  • This is part 5 of my Fusion Ficus Benjamina Bonsai, where I am trying to grow 3 trees into one (which they pretty much are now). In this video I repot the tree and sort out the aerial roots.

    I have fused several of my rooted ficus trees. Banyan and Benjamina really grow together fast. You can also break up the fusion lines with a sharp blade just remove some of the lines and the new bark will fuse over. Love how you recycle items. I have tons of throw away plastic pots. Great video for showing the long period of shots. Thanks 👍

      Cheers, yeah i have thought about scarring up the lines, just havnt got round to it. glad to hear it will actually work tho.

      @@BackGardenBonsai yeah if you do it right you can work on having flukes or just break up the straight line. It's easy.

    This video has motivated me to fuse 3 of my ficus Benjamin's together come spring. Love the wild and crazy look you have in that tree.

      @BackGardenBonsai  6 месяцев назад

      Can you send me a new house first 😭. Then it can fit in haha. But really if does need something bigger for sure. Might be another junk pot for a while, slightly bigger though . But it will get a proper one eventually.

    Such a cool tree - would have never guessed it was a fusion. Any particular styling thoughts?

    • @BackGardenBonsai
      @BackGardenBonsai  6 месяцев назад +1

      Cheers Sue. Styling wise, pretty much what it is now - short,wide and upright. Just needs more ramification really/wider pot. and then i would eventuality let the aerial roots develop too

    Awesome.
    Ur videos have inspired me too try out my own ficus fusion.
    What is your regiment on watering / feeding ( what type of fertiliser do you use? )

    • @BackGardenBonsai
      @BackGardenBonsai  4 месяца назад

      Cheers. yea give it a go! i just fertilise about once a month during the growing season. just a general all purpose one. nothing special.
      as for watering ...when it needs it lol. stupid answer, but its true. i check it daily. if it needs water, it gets it.

    Wow, I'm shocked at hoe big this has gotten in the past few years. I have a ficus fusion ive been working on for a out the same amount of time and it hasnt done nearly as well. Im starting to think the ariel roots are taking away from the trunk on mine. It would make sense i guess. Anyways, great video brother.

    • @BackGardenBonsai
      @BackGardenBonsai  6 месяцев назад

      Cheers bro, yeah dont let those ariels get too out of hand. they look so cool, but defo bipass the trunk and thicken the upper branches instead.

      @@BackGardenBonsai Yep, it honestly never even occurred to me til now. I'll be posting an update on mine this weekend. It's not nearly as impressive as yours yet. Anyways, love your content, cheers!
