    Your attention to detail is THE standard others should follow. Great work as always. I commend you on the wood turning as well. I would have NO patience for that. I would end up just grabbing a hatchet out of frustration and making firewood. Take care.

    Question for you: I'm doing this almost exact same thing. Question on the polyurethane over the testors paint - was that oil based? I see you did paint, then minwax then you mentioned polyurethane. I don't want my paint to bubble up or apply items in the wrong order. Thank you!

    • @Restorology
      @Restorology  3 месяца назад

      Yes I used all oil based finishes on this project. The testors paints are enamel and I finished with a std urethane finish. Once cured, it is fairly strong.

    What did you use for wood filler for the cracks? And what type of paint did you use for the stripes on balls/mallets? I’m restoring a croquet set too and I want to make sure it lasts

    • @Restorology
      @Restorology  Год назад

      I used a rubber based glue mixed with sawdust to fill cracks on the balls. I felt it needed to be flexible to take on the stress of being hit but also strong enough to keep the cracks from expanding. It's been a year and so far so good! The paint was Testors brand enamel hobby paint. It's all I had and it's held up fine, especially with the poly coating protecting it. Thanks for asking and good luck with your project!

  • @j.k.rector9818

    Where do you find the drills to put the hole in mallet and what are the diameters?

    • @Restorology
      @Restorology  Год назад +1

      The tap and die is sold as a kit and can be found on Amazon, eBay, or probably any local wood working shop. I don't remember the size I used for this one, maybe 3/4 inch? Several sizes can be found and it will depend on the diameter of the shaft to be inserted. Thanks for asking!
