I'm mixed. I probably won't pick up rhe retro but it's close. Besides the translucent hair, I think I prefer the retro in all aspects. I never realized how brunette the old heads were and that red over brush on the hair is exactly the color tone I want. Though the metallics look good I don't think they would mesh with the more vibrant red.
Great video. Thank you for bringing out your Toybiz...uhmmm I mean Marvel Select Dark Phoenix. The new ML Phoenix is a little too cartoonish for me to consider swapping out my Select. Considering the huge Phoenix-accessory it came with - its an unrealistic comparison. I love the TRU look and the "richness" of the colors to it.
I like how beautiful menacing, and threatening Jean Grey is as the Dark Phoenix because I don't even have the TRU exclusive 2 pack Phoenix figure But I will get her despite not coming with a more calm down head and hopefully will get a green suited up Phoenix too, Great review on this retro Dark Phoenix action figure Jason.
The puns are part of the reasons I watch these. I get why Sinister wants Jean's genes, but never understand why Cyclops. Ship her with a more powerful mutant.
Cyke's eyes to a "force dimension" is no slouch already, but's the combination of their genes that made Sinister cream his pants. Their children are immensely powerful. Rachel can permanently use the Phoenix force without the backlash everyone else faced, and Cable was extremely powerful even with the techno organic virus hindering his powers. The version of Cable that didn't have the virus from Age of Apocalypse "Nate" Grey (AKA Destroyer of Worlds, Second Coming), basically became a reality shifting "Jesus". An Omega level mutant who controlled the minds of other mutants in "Age of X-Man" and transported them to a plane of utopia he created out of nothing. So yeah, it's very easy to see why Sinister was interested in the combination of Jean and Scott's genes.
I just got the original for $33 just missing the hair down head and the flame effects but it’s such a good price and she goes for over $75 incomplete too. the original looks so much better than the retro so i’m very happy
@@5POAFigureReviews oh wait it gets even better, turns out the dude found the hair down head and is going to throw me a bone and give it to me for free also! Just missing the flame bird effect but I did buy the toybiz phoenix base so that is definitely how I will display her!
Hello 5POA Figure Reviews, I was wondering if you could do a video for a older Batman figures and seeing if you could find good options to display them with old marvel legends figures? I like both groups if you’re wondering.
Hey Ashton. Do you have any in mind? Always happy to do Throwback figures. In the meantime, look up a video I did in Sept 2021 on the DC Universe Classics Detective Batman. I think that will be a good start for you.
@5POA Figure Reviews The dc superheroes Batman figure? I remember him seeing him multiple times online but I kept being confused I was looking up the right figure and not confused with something else. But I’ll start from your video thanks I appreciate it.
@5POAFigureReviews In the end I prefer plain ol' Jean on the shelf, so not TOO big a loss. I'm hoping for an ML with her more armored look in the late 2010s X-Men Red run, though.
I got the new retro fig. I hate the gummy plastic Hasbro is using now on their figures, they fall over so easily now with the soft plastic. So that's another point to the old ML figures.
@5POA Figure Reviews never got that one before scalpers bought them all out. Thanks for letting me know. On one hand I feel better that the quality is asinine on both, on the other hand I'm wondering why I'm still buying ML when the quality of my Select/neca/mattel/McFarlane feel so much better.
The old one isn't pinless. The hair is too dark, almost brown, new one has better bright red. Also the Cyclops of the two pack is really outdated, not worth the price.
Now I really want the OG Dark Phoenix set. Awesome review and comparison!
Thanks so much!

Probably not, no
You could probably stick the spinnerrete mj head on the new body for a powered down jean
Interesting idea!
@@5POAFigureReviews thank you
Congratulations on 250 vids
Thanks!
6:52 that Toybiz Dark Phoenix still looks pretty good 👍 if only it was current day Marvel Legends sized
Yeah, that'd be pretty cool.
Congrats on 8k Jason!
Thanks so much!
nice review, but i still like the new phoenix.
Nothing wrong with that! It's a nice figure with great articulation
Amazing hid congratulations on 250 vid!
Thanks Angelica!

Agreed. Truly one of her most iconic looks

Update: They released the Green Phoenix but at a $50 pricepoint.
Yeah, that's a bit steep. I'm still getting her, but I am grumpy about it
I love your vids
Thank you!
Congratulations on 8 k
Thanks Angelica!
Congrats on 8 k
Thank you! I am so happy and honored.
I did once see this 2-pack in a TRU and I STILL kick myself for not picking it up! At least I got the TRU Spider-Man/MJ pack later on.
Glad you got at least one of them!

This vid is amazing
Thank you! I really appreciate the feedback.
It's Hell fire Hank! Only people who watch Dan Who will know what I'm talking about 😉

Posing then together, the Toys R Us one felt pretty gummy too to be honest

Retro all the way.

The Retro reminds me of ketchup and mustard...
Ha! Now that you say that I can't unsee it lol
Aw no shout of JJJJJEEEEANNNNNNN
I mean I *kind* of did in the packaging section.
