    This kind of confuses me sense I’ve always been told boxers shouldn’t lift heavy weights. Can anyone care to explain

      What they mean by that, is focusing on one specific muscle & training like a bodybuilder, hence, the goal is hypertrophy. Hypertrophy is muscle growth (increasing the size of the muscle). Muscles require oxygen which in a 6-12 round fight would hinder the boxers performance. A 6-8 Rep range during strength training get you stronger which is what a boxer wants.
