Escalation might be good. Unlike Pakistan, Iran is already subject to harsh sanctions. They'll make it somehow. But the last thing Pakistan can afford is further escalation and increased risk of conflict with Iran at a time when it is going through some of the worst internal unrest it has seen in years, if not decades. India will gain in the end, even though the Pakistani population would feel elevated by the military's bluster.
