As someone who teaches the history of the "Northwest Frontier" at a premier university in India, I find this episode excellent in discussing how imperial powers have always coveted this region for its strategic and geopolitical importance. In the past, it was about the Great Game. Now, it's about CPEC and other policies.
This uprising is different from the previous ones for the following reasons.
1) Pakistan today is almost bankrupt which wasn't the case during the past uprising.
2) The smallest ethnic group aka Baloch has joined forces with the 2nd largest ethnic group aka Pathan which has the support of neighboring countries intensely hostile to Pakistan.
3) Taliban ruled Afghanistan is sitting over more than 100 billion dollars of weapons accumulated since 1980 which will arm the insurgencies in Pakistan for several years.
1. There is no such thing called Pathan. Pashtun/Pakhtun hota hai.
2. Afghanistan has never been hostile towards Pakistan; it has always been Pakistan who has facilitated terrorism in Afghanistan.
3. The Taliban government does not support Pashtun movements in Pakistan.

Nationalists are also a threat to Taliban rule as they hate clerics and Taliban. In the past, nationalists supported Ghani administration.

Great research..as someone who is doing his phd on Balochistan I can see the hard work Prints put in for viewers..just one minor correction..current insurgency is in it's 5th phase since a 2nd minor insurgency has been led by Nauroz Khan in 1958.

Excellent analysis - your'e making Pakistan wiser :) This insurgency is different because we just live in a different time. The simpler solution to almost all of Pakistan's problems is to believe in combined input of the people of Pakistan and to respect their choice. If people choose to elect Mahrang Balouch as their provincial leader then let her solve all the problems of Balochistan:))) She is planting seeds of a soft separatist movement - she's starting with a wake up call and could move fast. Once you introduce democracy to 240 million people, then its difficult to run the place by not respecting their choice. People of Pakistan seem to be heavily tilted towards a democratic process, and, this time its different because WE LIVE IN A DIFFERENT TIME! Its the kind of a time when people feel empowered through multiple channels of expression. At the end of the day 240 is a bigger number than 1, 2, 5 or 15. We respect you for the wisdom you impart by telling us what our leaders should not do. Thank you 🙏

I think your knowledge about the ethnic composition of the population of Baluchistan is not very precise. Baluchistan broadly has two ethnic divisions. The norther region of Baluchistan comprising of Quetta, Loralai, Ziarat, Chaman, etc. is inhabited by indegenous Pashtuns. Quetta traditional has been a Pashtun city and still has Pashtun-majority. Its old name was Shal Kote Baluch live in the south districts in Baluchistan and coastral districts of Baluchistan.
It must be a fool who will believe what the Indian media says.

4:30 brahamdagh bugti himself had admitted his own militant Balach marri blew up the cave killing nawab akbar bugti. Which isn't shocking since different balochi militant groups have a history of fighting each other and even assassinating their own leaders. Human rights watch have also accused them of petty crimes like robbery, kidnapping, murder and rape of balochi women. Nawab Akbar bugti himself fell out of favour when he planted a landmine on a road for army convoys. However a bus carrying around 70 bugti tribesmen to a wedding event went over it and they were all killed. He received massive backlash from his own bugti tribe after that.

This is the 5th insurgency in Baluchistan 2007 - present day.
1st was 1947 onwards
2nd 1962-69
3rd 1973 .. bhutto caused this

India will never support Balochistan becoming separate country which may weaken Pakistan and split Pakistan further which is not in the interest of India as the same ethnic nationlist fire may eventually catch India since like Pakistan, India too is a multi ethnic country and in a comparable situation on socio-economic status of the common public with like Punjabis of Pakistan, the Hindi speakers dominating India. A Pakistan strong enough to hold itself is in the interst of India is the theory strongly believed by Indian intelligentia and they will never let Pakistan to fail, and this policy has been consistent since 1947 and so was India never recognized independence of Khan of Kalat and supplied them arms when they were in need before Pakistan occupied it.

The movement is important but will it lead to creation of a New country? I doubt. The critical mass is missing. In case of Bangladesh the numbers were quite large but in this case the numbers are small. As you mentioned, that number is about 70 to 75 lakh people. The powers in Pak will handle this the same way other dictators will do. They will Keep the pressure & keep killing them.

The Pakistani State and establishment is at its weakest position since the country's inception. It is hobbled by economic mess, polarised society and polity, rising military insurgencies in different parts and lack of diplomatic support or strengthened external position. The bla wants to capitalise on this weakness with the increasingly disenchanted masses oppressed, discriminated against and brutally repressed by the pakistani security establishment and chinese businesses trying to make fortunes out of its resources.
