    Also happy to say, got a notification for this video🥳💥👍🏻
    Wasn’t getting notified & resubscribed to channel, checked notification settings, & ended having to reboot & load RUclips app for it to finally fix the issue. Kept missing the vids & was getting tad annoyed😅, but it’s fixed for now, anyway😉

    It doesn't even take a minute you use a wrench to change a disk.
    As long as the discs are universal that's cool.

    As a user for many years of Bosch angle grinders I would not go near X lock. There are two reasons. Great in this demo. In a metal workshop the location and center part of the traditional nut get bashed and worn by the metal your grinding and covered in metal dust. Its not abuse just the result of a lot of use. Workers are put them down and sometimes they catch the nut. However it still remains serviceable and safe and with X lock I can see that more complex system getting damaged and rendering the tool useless. The second reason is we would not want to be tied into purchasing grinding discs from Bosch but want the ability to try other makes which may be more suitable for the materials we grind or to be honest cheaper.

    Great video and great explanation, but cost and availability are the biggest cons to this and the starlock system. It's nearly impossible to find x-lock discs in-store and it's not much better online. Starlock is no different, with stores carrying a very limited supply at high prices, with x-lock prices being worse comparatively.
    Again, love the invention and the safety features, but Bosch/Fein have to get their prices down and increase their availability, otherwise their systems are prohibitive and self-limiting; and that doesn't mean move production to China lol.

    Interesting development, but I’m seeing a solution for a problem that’s not necessarily there. If it takes anyone 3-5 minutes to change wheels maybe a job using an angle grinder extensively isn’t quite their calling. Anyway, I really enjoy your videos and reviews. As someone who’s just started to collect what I hope will be my lifetime tools, your work has been very valuable and hasn’t led me wrong yet. Thanks.

    • @The_Crazy_Monkey75

      If Bosch made a solution, then there must be a problem. There is no such thing as a solution for nothing. Solution #1: blades and discs cannot be incorrectly mounted making them safer and more reliable. Solution #2: blades and discs are mounted faster. Solution #3: mounting tools are not needed anymore. Also, there is no such thing as 'expert grinder user' from day 1. Everybody starts from zero. The grinder is the most dangerous power tool, even for experienced users.

    Dewalt cordless grinders still use the nut, but it clearly belongs to the dewalt, and they come with a spanner but i never use it to change the disks. u lock the spindle and use the attachment to spin the nut tight and to loosen it when ur done.

  • @optimusprime3484
    @optimusprime3484 4 года назад +1

    I love it when people act like you spend every other minute changing wheels. You change a wheel between operations or once a wheel wears down. It's not something you're doing constantly that the 10 seconds some proprietary tech (and most likely way more expensive) is going to make your job any faster overall. Instead you get to waste time and money switching over all your abrasives and not having all of what you would normally use available.

  • @ovi_4
    @ovi_4 3 года назад

    While it seems like a good idea keep in mind that you'll be continually paying a high price for every cutting wheel that you gonna to buy and over time that gets quickly very expensive. I'd say this is just another way of making more money out of us all and not about safety as the video states whatsoever. I personally do not think is gonna take off or stay on the market for more than 3-4 years

      @@jagarcogheart Tends not to happen. Everyone waited for the Fein multi-tool patent to expire, and also the Festool tracksaw. They hate paying others. Bosch has the same problem with batteries- they could license Flexi-volt, but have gone for high current instead, and have to have fins etc. to get rid of the heat. Inferior in many ways, but saves admitting the other guy had a better idea.
      Also, licensing the tool might be affordable, but licensing the discs, where the profit is made, is another matter. With low cost items license fees are crippling.
