We purchased our over 2 years ago.I bought a dent-ding model , just call harvest right directly and was still able to use the $500 off. They also allow you to do zero interest layaway with all promotions and discounts. We chose a zero interest credit card instead so we could use our freeze drier right away. Purchased the freeze drier, candy and all the packaging supplies needed on the credit card. We paid it all off with candy sales. I only sold from my house, No events, advertising on local social media apps. I love my freeze drier! Gives me a side income, food security and unique homemade gifts 😊
Brooke, I only discovered your channel recently and I love you to pieces! I purchased my Harvest Right a couple of months ago and I really love it. Thanks to you and others who have taken the "fear" out of this new (to me) way of preserving food and making goodies for our own family and our wonderful neighbors. God bless you and your sweet little family.
Make sure to calculate all your related costs into you formula - candy, bags, energy, etc. Still a very nice income earning hobby. Thanks for your vids.
My daughter, husband and girls were stationed at Eielson, I would go to Alaska twice a year. Last time we were there, it was snowing & shooting off beautiful fireworks the day after Halloween!
I paid for my freeze dryer just by freeze drying leftovers from meals and by freeze drying any sale foods that were in too big amounts to eat right away. I have a pantry full of foods to make great meals out of now! Wish I could freeze dry lettuce and other greens like that.
@lyndabuchholz1216 I wondered about lettuce myself. Does trying it simply not work or is rehydrating the problem? If I can freeze-dry lettuce and end up with “chips” that taste like lettuce but can’t be used in fresh salads, I might be able to still find a use for them. Or do they get destroyed?
@@MisterEMystery You can't rehydrate them. Since they are frozen they turn to mush. I think you could use them as chips. I think I have seen videos of others doing that with spinach and kale. Now kale seems to be OK frozen it might work much better. I didn't like kale though. Cabbage seems to do well.
I just bought 4 bath towels using your code, thank you!!! My mom is always complaining that her towels are too heavy, I think those are the perfect solution.

I've been following you for a while now. Your videos are so well done. I appreciate that you always show the settings you use for your projects. I have not done much with my FD, as yet. I'm more of a tinkerer and like to see how things are done. I have thought about selling candy, but I am no businessman, and have a hard time asking people to pay for something that I may not think is perfect, or good enough. An example would be leather work. I can see any "mistakes" that I have made, and don't feel comfortable charging someone, even though others may not see anything wrong. Having a business, how much time do you spend taking care of the taxes, and related tasks? I would imagine that you have to pay tax on everything you sell? Thanks for the great videos.
@@hostesstwinky thanks for watching!! But what is the cost in running the freeze dryer? It pulls electricity so my hubby is concerned about the cost of electricity running for 24-36 etc hrs. What kind of energy is being pulled to run the freeze dryer? Can you tell us? 😊❤
I’m going to have to do that… California just raised our electricity rates and this rate increase is costing us gobs! We never had a bill due to solar until now!our first bill was 500$ with solar!! And the units do use a lot of electricity.. if we don’t use the unit our bill is 150 to 200 using only a wood burning stove.. this candy making idea might help offset the cost
@@JesusSavedMe-Alizabeth4truth it really can help! Yes I hear California electric prices are very high but dang that really stinks that it’s that high with solar! What a pain 😖
@ yes exactly. I’m sure I can pay an electrician to do it. I just don’t want to incur anymore. Cost on my initial freeze dryer. I do plan to add more as we grow. And of course the main waterline of my house had a leak yesterday so got that repaired, but that put my freeze dryer on hold for about a week.😞
Did you see freeze dried skittles and jolly ranchers are going to be offered beginning of 2025 by the manufactures. Also stating candied not going to be offered in bulk anymore to close in on the market.
The oven method gives you are lighter more airy texture! So kind of depends on preference, I enjoy both. This is quicker, but the oven method is so good.
@@ChristinaContreras-x6b I had them all nice and then they spread around when I loaded them into the dryer - lol. You do want them separated so they don’t stick together when they puff up, I had a couple that were too close and stuck to eachother

OMG who dropped tons of cocai… oh that’s not what that white powdery stuff is? Even though you forgot the $1.04 cost for the 8 Mylar bags, I’d say you are correct in your figures that you made your cost back. Let’s say if you included hidden costs like that $1.04, electricity, your time, gasoline, etc. and rounded off your profit at $30 instead of the $38 you said, that’s $5 in profit per bag. $2,800 (I’m including cottage license and other things you didn’t) /$5 = 500 bags of candy. I’m pretty sure you’ve sold that many bags in the last year (as far as I’ve paid zero attention to your sales) That doesn’t include all your MRE’s and personal stuff! Well Done!
California rates make it very difficult to turn a profit freeze drying...overcharged and overregulated, unless you're not a citizen of the good 'ol USA, then they give you money for electricity, food, living, housing down-payment, rent, healthcare, etc etc

Yeah, kimchi is cabbage (or Korean radish), Napa cabbage in particular. Makes sense that it would work if other cabbages do.
