      Well.
K9’s aren’t infallible, nor are their handlers. Mediocre investigative skills, maybe a detective having crisis at home…there are many potential reasons the ball got dropped in this investigation
If someone were to investigate the handling of this case it wouldn’t be quite so mysterious…

My first intuitive thoughts as you shared this. Tragically Kevin was abducted. With all the campers in the Locality ! Dogs would have caught his scent and no trace whatsoever. Tom Brown Jr is a great Wilderness Tracker. I started reading his Books about 4 decades ago. 🙏s for Family.

Doubtful. Lost in the woods and then exposure. All it takes is one wrong turn and things go bad in an instant. A lost kid could cover a lot of territory in a short time.

Since the dogs couldn’t pick up a scent, I agree, he was most likely abducted. I’ve read farther down in the comments and someone said that they were reading about another case of a little girl that had been murdered and her murderer was a suspect in Kevin’s disappearance. That his body had been found 10 years later across the fence and the suspect worked at the Park at that time.

Very Sad! Even if they did find him ten years later, on the other side of that fence.. it explains nothing:( its some closure for the family but I'm sure so many questions linger. How would he have got on the opposite side of that fence, so far away and out of the search area.. I read some of the articles you linked.. one stated the mother thought It's possible he went off to play with some older kids and something happened. Who knows but very sad:( Prayers for Kevin and his family🙏 Thank you for your kind delivery of even the saddest cases.

While reading an article about a missing girl ,Tania Marie Murrel, I came across this in the article about her suspected murderer: “The man is also a person of interest in the 1979 disappearance of 9-year-old Kevin Reimer, who went missing after he wandered away from his family’s campsite in Elk Island National Park in Alberta. The young boy’s body was eventually found not too far from where he was last seen, and the person in question is said to have worked at the park at the time.”

Truth. I ran into a buffalo within about 2 feet in the off season. Yikes. Fortunately, it was just as surprised as I was. It did follow me back to the cook house. This story is very interesting. Edmonton has had a couple of significant child abduction events. It makes me wonder if since this occurred during summer (when schools were out), the same predator that took children from an Edmonton school a few years later may have been responsible for this. Given what I know of dogs, I would go with abduction. Yet another Alberta tragedy to go unsolved.

One time while I was hiking in the Smokies I was with friends and as we walked my ankle turned and I fell so quickly I had no time to yell or anything. I fortunately fell to the inside of the trail but if I had fell the other way I would have gone over the edge and disappeared. Maybe things like that happen. I could see my friend in front of me but she had her back to me. She didn’t know anything had happened until I hollered for her.

This case reminds me of the little Dennis Martins boy that Dave Paulades covers in his missing 411 cases. Very strange about the blood hounds too. Another case like this happened on Vancouver island Canada on Mt Washington where a Sylvia Apps went missing while camping. Apparently the search dogs did the same thing, they whimpered and didn’t want to search even though they had a back pack full of her scent to get started with. A search and rescue volunteer for this search said it was just creepy.

My guess for such a disappearance is an old well covered with brush swallowed him. It’s happened before and is not easily discovered. But it’s a shame they didn’t think of other possibilities of how he could have been on the other side of the Elk fence. If someone took him they could have dumped the body on the other side of the fence.

@@DebraGillwas she the womannthat went missing up on rte 25 back in the late 70's?
A couple from Plymouth had a summer home over near Haverhill, the wife went for a walk on the road in the afternoon and was never seen at all again.
Not very far from where Muara Murray went missing in the early 00's.
I find it odd that I cant find much info about the older missing persons case.
I drove up that way every night for work about 20 years ago, wild country, but not so wild that someone should absolutely dissapear.

OMG!!! Any well-trained tracking dog, let alone a bloodhound, would track even with other animals around. The fact that Tom Brown (IMO, best tracker in the world!) couldn't find him means that he was definitely not in the area. Sounds really fishy. Was his body truly found and did the family finally get him back?

It’s very strange that it’s not clear if he was actually found even if it was in a news paper, won’t there be a death certificate and burial information in public records, as it strikes me odd if he’s been found why no information,if he wasn’t then he’s still out there, and people still could be looking as he could be still alive, very strange.

Edmonton is my home town, and this was a huge story. This is such a sad story. I doubt that if foul play was involved, the perp would ever be apprehended. The park is full of waterways and after so many years, there wouldn't be much evidence left.
As for prisoners searching? They were probably people who were serving time for fraud and other such nonviolent crimes.
The fences in that park aren't what you would normally think of as livestock fencing. They're buffalo fencing - high and strong to protect the visitors and the major highway that goes through the park. (Most years, there will be a tourist or two who get inside the fencing and are maimed or killed. Buffalo are dangerous creatures.)

Seems like if there is no scent trail, the victim was never there to begin with, or somebody, or some animal, picked him up and removed him from the area.

I know this will sound equally out there but I’ve recently seen some videos with who claimed to have Bigfoot 🦶🏾encounters and stating that the creature literally disappeared before their eyes. I began to wonder about the disappearances of people who leave absolutely no trace, not even a scent for a tracking dog might have been dematerialized by a Bigfoot 🦶🏾or alien 👽. And yes a portal is also a viable but unproven possibility. ❓

Never let your children out of sight if you can help it ! It always seems to happen from a point of separation. If something really odd didn't happen to him other than getting lost, a human predator will always be a fit.

If kelvin were still living he would be 55 today. Has anyone thought of doing a drawing of what he might look like today? I was thinking that after this many years he could of passed away in 1979. It’s so sad when children become lost and never found again. It’s definitely heartbreaking for his family of the not knowing. I can’t imagine all these years of never being able to watch him graduate, or marry and give them grandchildren. One thing for sure is they can be a sure of if kelvin died… he is now in heaven with Jesus. I pray this gives them comfort. ❤

Bryan this case is so similar to the case of Charlotte Sena who went missing at Moreau Lake State Park in NY. She was also 9 years old. Riding her bike at the park. The date too is eerily similar, September 30th (2023). It turned out she had been abducted by a male predator in the park. That case gives me a sense of foreboding as to what might have happened with Kevin. Was a kidnapper there? You have to wonder.

    Sad indeed. I know that
Clifford Olson was released from prison in the late 70's. He developed an interest in children from his cell mate. Although his crimes are stated to be from 1980-1981 he very well could have been involved. I suspect abduction due to a body never being found, although Byan does mention a news article about his remains being found. His family will probably never know what happened. The reddit account was 5yrs ago and is sketchy at best. It states: His remains were not found for 10 years and were in the park, on the side of the tall fence that was put up to keep the Elk from the main park.
If this was so there would have been news articles.

  • @MystLily

I think a lot of search organisers are mistaken about what children can climb and places they can traverse. My son at 9 month old climbed a laddered wall at a gym right to the top and his dad had to quickly climb the wall to grab him. From that time onward he could scale anything, he was like a monkey. I’ve heard stories about missing kids found in places that searchers couldn’t believe they made it there without adult intervention but the simple truth is some kids have great stamina and a fantastic centre of gravity. My grandson on the other hand doesn’t like heights and is definitely not an outdoorsman. It must be very difficult to make decisions on where to search for people & it’s so important for people to remember that if you are lost, stop, do not keep searching around and end up further away from original point because it just makes it so much harder for searchers to find you.
