German hard-right AfD set to win state election

- Germany's anti-immigration Alternative for Germany (AfD) is celebrating a "historic success", with a big victory for the far-right party in the eastern state of Thuringia.
The AfD won almost a third of the vote, nine points ahead of the conservative CDU, and far in front of Germany's three governing parties.
The result gives the far right its first win in a state parliament election since World War Two, although it has little hope of forming a government in Thuringia because other parties are unlikely to work with it.
The AfD came a close second in Sunday's other big state election, in the more populous neighbouring state of Saxony.
Results there gave the CDU 31.9% of the vote, just ahead of the AfD, again far ahead of the three parties running the national government - the Social Democrats, Greens and liberal FDP.

Reminds me of when Vox started to get representatives in Spain, all the newsmedia was calling them far-right when in reality they're just regular conservatives at most, not dissimilar to what the Popular Party (biggest right-wing party in Spain) was proposing and acting like just 15-20 years prior to Vox. As a Spaniard I would never vote them, but it's just ridiculous to use the "far-right" BS everytime they mention them.

No basis in fact.
Because they fall far on the right side of the left-right political spectrum? Nationalism, opposition to immigration, national conservatism, welfare chauvinism, xenophobia...
Even the former chairman left the party after realising how far right wing it had become.
Support or disagree with them as much as you want, that's a whole separate argument, the party itself is undeniably far right.

The election this year being a perfect example. Labour only got 33% of the vote, they won a massive majority with almost 1 million less votes that Corbyn got when he was destroyed by Johnson in 2019. The entire reason those radical left wing tyrant won is because about 40% of the entire electorate refused to vote. Many, like the compliant cattle they are still voted Tory even after being repeatedly betrayed. Even post election polls show the vast majority of people who were polled and voted Labour said they voted Labour to get the Tories out... Those cattle could have gotten that result by voting Reform, but as ever they are brainless livestock who aren't capable of thinking for themselves.
You want a better class of politician? First we need a better class of voter. The only alternative to a democratic system is going back to the bad old days where political change would be done through violence & trust me pal you would not like that experience or the people it puts in charge after the killing stops...
