I recently bought a Fender Player HH Jazzmaster. The tremolo was very clunky, the pick ups were weedy. It was terrible out of the box, not what you'd expect of a £600 guitar. I needed a guitar as back up, so I took a punt of the Squier Affinity JM HH, it absolutely owns the Fender for a third of the price. Hardtail - but who wants a useless tremolo? The pick ups were loud, well matched and rocked! The neck was neat and it played great out of the box. This guitar will become one of Squiers unsung classics, buy one, you won't regret it.
This demo sold these guitars to me, bought the mustang the very day you put this video out, it will be delivered today. Jazzmaster I'll buy next month.
I got the bullet Mustang in surf green to complement my fsr Bullet Telecasters without really expecting much, and it blew me away. Total sleeper. However, it is my first 24" scale and it's ruining me for regular scale. I realize that it's intended for smaller hands, but I'm 6'1, with proportionate man hands, so this makes it feel like a toy, or like I'm a giant. Everything is ridiculously easy now. I now know and understand how Hendrix must have felt with his enormous hands. It really gives people with already large hands a huge advantage.
I like how you not only do a demo but you also explain the finer parts of the instruments making it easier to make a choice. As of tomorrow I will own a black Squier Affinity Jazzmaster HH
76sagi Have you first hand knowledge about this? Seems like a stupid mistake for Fender/Squier to make. Mustangs are traditionally 24 inch scale length. It wouldn't be the first time a manufacturer had got their own specs wrong. I'd like to see a tape measure up against one of the Mustangs.
Yep, you are totally right, I'll put my hands up and say I got it wrong on this one! As you say, Squier have mistakenly listed the scale as 24.75" in the specs...but I've just got the tape measure on one and it's definitely 24". Thanks for pointing this out, I'll make sure we get a revision/disclaimer put into the description and annotations on the video. Cheers!
Yeah... I was not trying to be rude or anything... I always really enjoy your reviews! I just got a Bullet Mustang last week and absolutely love it. There is just so much talk online about the scale on these from Squier's silly mistake. Oh well... Cheers!
I owned, played and modded over 100 guitars from cheap to expensive and all types of. A long journey and thousands of bucks later it ended up with this Affinity Jazzmaster. Just changed the tuners and the stringtree and gave it a good setup. I own three of them. I prefer only playing the neck PU on all my guitars. To my ears and personal taste this affinity pickups are the 'best' sounding ones. They Sound like Singlecoils with much more Output. They are ceramic, which i prefer. I buy them on the second market and put it in much more expensive guitars.
Thanks Sam. To my ears the guitars sound quite different. A bigger more complex sound from the Jazzmaster compared to the Mustang - but it's always hard to tell on RUclips. There's only 60 or 70 quid between them - so not bothered about price. Which guitar do you like better and why? If that's a hard question to answer - What is the Jazzmaster better at doing? What is the Mustang better at doing? Cheers again. Mike
I agree, the Jazzmaster's sound is more defined. Is it because of the longer scale? Also it seems that he uses the stock strings, which are very loose for the Mustang and serve it very well.
Little grunge monsters! Lol I'm thinking about getting the Jazzmaster and swapping the neck out for a Warmoth baritone neck. Upgrade pickups and install black hardware. 🤔
Hi Mike, the amp's a Fender Bassbreaker 15, really versatile and sounds great. No external effects used, just the amp's drive channel and built in reverb :-)
Ah went to check these out yesterday at the Romford PMT and the guy was really kind I started playing Floyd the barber so he took the knock-off guitar from me and went to go get the squire bullet and we started talking bout nirvana and tones he set up the amp and even got me a pedal to jam out 🤘🤘
adam guitar that's great, that's a better model. I just ordered the Affinity Jazzmaster after watching a few vids, especially Lee Wrathe. U should review it man!
I heard pacificas are really good for the price I'm I would prefer pacificas because there more versatile with the 2 single coils u could play Hendrix Clapton blues and with the humbucker u can play classic rock some degree of metal and overall a well built versatile guitar I don't know 2 much about the Jazzmaster but I do know it's easy to fret the bottom frets 22 are easy because if the body shape and two humbuckers that want to be Distorted u can play some metal on a Jazzmaster or really anything it just depends what u like
He tells the specks of the guitars like he is explaning a new gadget to James Bond, i love it
jarr movies I thought more dodgy street trader selling knock offs
"Beautiful piece here last change today.....shit!! Rozzers" xD
@@dstolar79 ehurgjtdddftrrr FERGER DERGER!!!
And gets it wrong, the Mustang is a 24" scale
@@richardrichard5409 i think by "standard" scale he meant the strat scale

3 Years late - still showing love on these guitars

I have just picked up a white jazzmaster off some lad who needed cash for £70 and its definitely a keeper! I love it

They sound both agressive and the Mustang a bit more abrasive and harsh in a good way.both very Rocky and grundgy guitars
I have a jaguar bass that looks exactly like the white Jazzmaster... I want that Jazzmaster
Really dig the Jazzmaster. If only it came with trem and white pickguard. Maybe next year.

I love that lil blue Mustang ❤️
great review thx!

The Mustang sounds better to my ears. I think I'll be picking up one soon. 😁
they all sound full as F, especially that Mustang sounds awesome!
Great review and demo. Love the playing.
Mustang is 24" scale length🤔
22.75 I believe actually
@@robertsagan9722 24 inch !!! just purchased one , likeit .
Is that bigger then the mini jazz master ?
the bullet its raw and grungier
It seems to me that the jazzmaster is way better than the mustang.
what is that black guitar in the beginning of the video? looks like a jazzmaster with a strat jack!
what riff is that between 5:22 - 5:35?
Soundgarden - Spoonman
I only told you to blow the bloody doors off.

Jazzmasternek teltebb hangzása van a testen átmenő húrozás miatt
Is just me or the black Jazzmaster has the best overall sound? I’ m really thinking to get one but how much it weights?
do they have the same pickups (I know they are both humbuckers but is it the same brand of something?)
would you suggest a Jazzmaster for warm and full tones? i'm a wannabe jazz player on a budget... or should i get a Tele?
Tele
Satisfying to hear innovators Sonic Youth mentioned more and more in these mainstream reviews. Please take note, kiddos.
I got into Sonic after watching the year punk broke doc, always love Thurston guitars 🎸🎸👍
Excellent video review. Thank you!
hell no nirvana is amazing probably the only reason I'm asking for this guitar for my b day next month😂
adam guitar did u get it!?
jonislow yes I got the Squier vintage model instead in Fiesta red, do you have a Mustang or jag?

I know this sounds stupid but is there anyway to give it a HS configuration
Just buy a HS pickguard and wire in the single coil instead of humbucker

jazzmaster looking good..
IMHO H&Benton did a better work for a lower price; after listening to this Jazzmaster I'll buy the H&B JS-60. Thanks for the demo.
The Jazzmaster has 21 frets not 22.
5.53 riff anyone ? Thx :)
