- Quite a simple job but there were two because of trying to film it hope it helps, the switch let £39.50 of eBay with postage. Arrived in two working days, I had it on diagnostics forty eight quid down the drain, if the switch doesn't work and it says there is a parking brake fault, with flashing red light and an amber warning try renewing the switch.
Thanks Mr cooper 🙏. Just changed it myself.💪
A mechanic wanted £75 to do it for me
Im glad i watched this video. I bought the part off ebay and thanks to you guys ive saved a lot of money if id have taken it to the garage
Many thanks! This has saved me £lots at the dealer!!!
I couldn't see how to get the trim apart on my 3008 to look at the hand brake switch.
Watched your video;
bought some poundshop paint scrapers;
levered it open;
found one side of the switch broken;
ordered a replacement off ebay;
fitted in minutes;
Good as new :)
Fantastic; thank you so much for posting this. Extremely easy, I used two narrow flat headed screwdrivers to hold in release pins of old switch while using fingers to release the front pair. Meant I could do it without bothering the wife. I would never have even tried if I hadn't watched this; you're a star for saving a lot of people the trouble of getting a garage to fix it and for saving them money to boot!!
Hi there, similarly to someone else who commented here, my MOT due in a matter of weeks, I spoke to 2 auto electricians and a peugeot specialist garage who were unsure of the scale of or solution to the problem, but then luckily saw your video. Now I am really NOT the most hands on person in the world but I thought that the worst that could happen if i replaced the switch was that i would have paid ebay around £13.50 for a switch and still be in the same position, but it DID solve the problem and I managed it in less than 10 mins. THANKS SO MUCH!!!
That's good to know, I've not got the 3008 now but I would definitely have another. Let's hope it save's some others a small fortune 🙂🙂
Thanks for your video....I managed to get a part and change the switch myself for less than 42 quid!!! Wendy
Here's a man crying out for a trim tool kit..!

Thanks for this, lads. Bought the part on ebay for £40, delivered inside a week, fitted in 5 mins thanks to this video.
Glad it helped saves a lot of money, unfortunately I've not got the 3008 now, but wish I still had it.
Perfect, solved my hand brake default problem. Thanks 👍
Thanks - fixed the fault and saved me some money 👍
What symptoms did you get to make you replace the switch.
Thanks, I think this switch is he same for my Citroen C4 Grand Picasso 2011 model.
I'll buy one from eBay (In Australia the dealer quoted $195 AUD!.
Thanks very much. Took to the garage - they didn’t know how to fix but charged me an inspection fee for the pleasure - and saying "it’s a software error take it to the main Peugeot dealer" Suddenly I’m thinking it’s major £…. Then saw your vid. Bought an eBay new switch for £14 - ten minutes after it arrived I’d sorted it. Major relief - the family cars back… 😊 very much appreciated. Thank you.
Glad it helped, I paid £65 to be told it could be anything. 🙂🙂🙂
great video i made it thanks to you
Fair play thank you for the video it's so easy to do, once you watch this video massive help Big thumps up 👆
Hi, my Peugeot 5008 is showing a flashing light and an amber warning, shall I keep driving local while I order the switch on ebay
I don't know for sure, I think amber is a first warning red is a stop asap. Me personally would but not for any distance. But it's a little bit risky 😕
It works with my Peugeot 500.Thank you Paps!
You're very welcome glad it helped 🙂
Very useful 👍🏻
Thank for the video, mine just broke off in my fingers. I managed to get trim off without a scraper pulled off with my finger. I need to by a new one seen on ebay new for £11.96
Glad it helped Kev.
thanks you for this video. i try it and i did . thanks you
Awesome thanks so much
Did you have to disconnect the battery to do this?
No I didn't disconnect the battery, there is no power to the switch unless the ignition is on.
Can I ask what faults you were getting with this when starting the car up?
The hand brake wouldn't come on on go off with the switch intermittently. It came on when the engine was switched off, and went off when I moved off as normal. Hope this helps 🙂🙂
@1:30 on this vid where you are struggling to push those pins down. You could just use the built-in lever just above the three pins 😂😂
My brother in-laws fingers are a bit stumpy for doing it, but we live and learn.
Thank you
Does anyone know the part number?
I didn't get the part number, but it will be on your old switch I would think. If it's a genuine GM part it will cost quite a bit more than I paid.
Thanks for posting this... Garage reckoned it'd be best part of £100 just for the part! Reckon I'll get one off ebay now and try and sort it myself 😊
Glad it helped, I've not got 3008 now but often wish I had.
We bought the replacement for £20 and, with this videos help, had it fitted in less than 10 minutes. Worst bit was getting the trim off with damage
Glad it helped I read a few comments before I did it, some had said it costs about £150 at the dealership.
If this switch was faulty would it cause the handbrake warning light and ABS to come on which mine now does
Do you have discharge the battery first or no need to?
No I didn't, did cause any issues.
Didn't cause any issues that should of been 🙂
Cheers Bud, was struggling to unplug from switch. Thanks for your help. Changed over in less than 10mins. Bought a switch off EBay for £20, sorted.
Love the use of a wall paper scraper 😃Easy peasy, Cheers 👍🍻👍
I bought it of eBay can't remember the company, I think it was in Sheffield but not sure sorry.
No probs. Thanks for the reply... Sheffield abit far from Melbourne!
@@marvcast2885 may sell it in Axedale or Bendigo😉😉😉
@@kennycooper844 got one, all sorted.
Cheers
Hi I have a 3008 and thanks to this video I changed the switch no problem but my dashboard says parking brake faulty. Do I need to plug it into one of those computers to reset errors or tell my car it has a new switch or should it work fine straightaway?
Mine just worked after the new switch was fitted, but apparently if you disconnect the battery press the horn to deplete any power left in the system. Then leave for fifteen minutes the computer should reset then.
My brake switch has been faulty on and off for months now. Warranty company said it has to fail completely. And today it did that! So now it's going into the garage to be fixed. If it wasn't still under warranty i would have done it myself. Nice easy video to follow, thank you.
Do you happen to have the link to get you bought it from?
My poor ears whilst wearing earphone on 0:24
What was the reason to replace it?
The switch wouldn't put the brake on, it went on automatically when the engine was switched off. Plus a warning on the dashboard faulty brake if I remember right.
@kennycooper844 Great thanks for that. exactly what's happening to ours so ordered a new switch.
Does this fix "parking break faulty" display on dashboard? My 3008 won't let me use the parking break manually
I couldn't say 100 percent, but I paid £65 to have the code read. But that just said how many times the brake had bee used. They couldn't tell me what the actual fault was, but if it's setting when you switch off and go off when you start to move I would renew the switch. Same as I've said I'm 100 percent but it's the easiest option. Hope this helps you 🙂🙂
@@kennycooper844thanks mate I'll give it a go
@@garethfrost9916 how is the handbrake?
@@kennycooper844 sorry mate. Onky now getting the funds to buy one. Will let u know
@@garethfrost9916 hope it works for you , but it's cheaper than have the code read. Then same as I did bought the switch and that was the fault.
Mine has broke and the MOT is in a few weeks. Cheers for the video. Will order a new one and give it a go
thanks so much fitted my new one took abit of time but thanks to your video l knew how to change it
Plastik bir aparat bulamadın mı , inşaat malzemesi metal ile bu işi yaptın ..
I hope it helped you, unfortunately I can't understand your comment. But really do hope it helped you.
Cheers mate, picked 1 up on amazon fo 18 quid, jobdone in less than 2 minutes, works a treat 👍
Glad it helped.
Great help, saved me a few quid, thanks
Glad it helped
Great diy video, thank you for sharing
Hi could you tell me the price for seers for p car
I don't know that sorry.
Love the wall paper scraper lovely way to mess up the trim.
Didn't mess up the trim, you may have done, bad luck or heavy handed
I'm sure you can do better, must be plenty waiting with baited breath 😂😂😂
Hi what was the symptoms / errors experienceD, Initially I had Parking brake fault, ABS/ESP Fault not just have handbrake failure, the handbrake switch is lit up.
It just came up with parking brake fault, I could reset it but it kept failing. ABS or ESP fault never showed.
Kenny Cooper thanks, how did you reset it? By disconnecting the battery for 3 min?
@@philw7580 I pretty sure it reset itself, but does mention how to reset it in the handbook. But unfortunately I've changed my car now( not from chose but bought a bigger caravan) 3008 is the best car I've ever had, sorry I can't give you anymore information.
Hi Phil, I have the same faults showing. did you change the parking brake switch and did it solve the issue?
@@Holland891217 hi it didn't unfortunately, I think it was the abs sensor causing the issue in the end,
My dear fellow - my dashboard was lit up like a Christmas Tree, full of Parking Brake and ABS warning lights. Bought a switch on eBay for £12 and used your video to install it. Now all appears to be functioning 100% as before.
Many thanks indeed - you have contributed to no small relief here that a large bill has been averted!
This was on our 2012 Peugeot 3008 1.6 Diesel
I paid £65 for a diagnostic, it only said there was afault. The dashboard told me that gjlad it helped.
What was the issue that caused you to change the part?
I have handbrake fault issue and think its possibly the switch😬
It wasn't switching on at the switch, and on occasions wouldn't switch off. But it went off when moving off, and came on when the engine was switched off.
