That’s funny on paper but if you think about it. That was a one sided relationship too. Zuko kept chasing honour even to his own detriment and honour wasn’t that interested. and the minute he stopped chasing honour, listened to his uncle and joined team avatar, he became a better person.
I've always been a Zutara fan not because of the Romeo & Juliet theme, but how their relationship is explored even more unlike Kataang it was never really explained how Katara felt at the first kiss you can tell that she feels uncomfortable, then at the second she said she was confused also Katara never seemed to be attracted to Aang instead, she seems kind of motherly towards him I'd like to point out when she was with Jet in this matter she was smitten and taken by him, and mind you his older than her so, clearly Katara more into older, and mature guys. For Zuko, I think he could have done better don't get me wrong Mai is cool, but the thing is they are just too the same they grew up in the fire nation, rich, and from noble families there's nothing wrong with being the same as your significant other, though what throw me off their ship was at the boiling rock didn't he explain as to why he needed to leave? So, there's need for Mai to throw a tantrum if she really loves him, she will wait and trust for him to come back to her not throw his letter on his head I personally this is the kind of relationship that wouldn't work long term or in long distance.
Yeah the new avatar content might tell us Mai and Zuko didn’t last, that still doesn’t mean Kataang wasn’t meant to happen. Katara might of wanted jet but she didn’t NEED him hence why she had a family with Aang. I’m a big Zuko fan and I still can’t see him with Katara simply because of their history. Katara was burdened by the fire nation and when she tried to make amends in the crystal rock Zuko turned on her. To me a red flag like that eliminates all future relationships
@@AvatarDiscussions frickin love you guys, Zuko is a great Character but I think he doesn’t fit with Mai nor Katara. I really would’ve liked another character with him because he deserves better than Mai (no offense to zutara shippers, u r just as normal people as me, don’t hate me please)
I would recommend that next time you rewatch the series, be on the lookout for kataang moments. I thought the same thing until rewatching the show. There are actually quite a few moments throughout the series that hint at Katara liking Aang, its just a lot of them are pretty subtle or capable of being misinterpreted. If you blink, you can easily miss them but they are there. idc if it doesn't change your mind and I'm not really trying to, but I have seen a lot of people who are against Kataang bring up this point when I don't really think it's true.
I love how people always say “both Zuko and Katara have traumatic past so they could understand each other”. Dude, Aang lost his entire people. He saw the corpse of his father figure and burst into supernatural rage. WHAT SHOW DID YOU WATCH WHERE AANG DIDN’T EXPERIENCE TRAUMA?
THANK YOU! I genuinely believe Zuko and Katara shippers go through so much mental gymnastics where in reality, The true only reason they think they’re a better fit is because of physical attraction. Aang literally made a necklace for Katara when she lost her mothers. REMEMBERED to get it back from Zuko because he knew it was important. And the man struggles HEAVILY with the loss of his nation. Throughout season one and 2 specifically. He went into the avatar state when he saw Monk Gyatso’s corpse. Literally started destroying the Eastern Air temple when the earth nation refugee’s took it over and started destroying the relics. Got mad at Toph because she was misusing his glider, was ready to murder anything and everything when Appa went missing. Every single moment that involved his culture being disrespected or taken from him, he acted out. Difference is, that if Aang acted out too much, he could’ve hurt everyone around him with ease. Zuko and Katara throw a temper tantrum about their trauma, they could be stopped by force. Other than emotional support, who would stop Aang? Aang was the 2nd most emotionally mature in the series by the end of it. Meanwhile, Zuko is by far the most socially awkward, introverted, and troubled in the entire group. People are mistaken. opposites attract is not Katara and Zuko.
@@K.H1914 EXACTLY. Zutara is the most shallow and delusional ship I’ve ever seen people come up with. The fact that some people thought those two characters had any actual chance of ending up as a couple will always be hilarious to me because it shows that they claim to be fans of a story they clearly don’t understand. I love how Bryke completely trolled them with the second trailer for Book 3 and with that “Book 4: Air” clip they made for SDCC with those fanarts. They can cry all they want, but Kataang is the most canon ship in all of ATLA. It was in the DNA of the show, as Bryke themselves have said, and no amount of whining from that toxic part of the fandom is going to change that.
To be honest i think the biggest problem is today that so many shipper (zutarians) only think black and white. I never understood how people say that zuko understamds katara better than aang for example, zuko barely knows her before they get to see kataras moms killer and aang knows how it is to take revenge because of the desert episode but people still hate on him. Other than that we see kataras feeling being developed constantly by touching his face and neck very often in book 3, playing with her hair around him several times, fixing his collar in the serpents pass. Katara shows her emotions by touch and it is very clear by dozens of hugs etc how attracted she was to aang. I never understood this motherly or one-sided argument. If aang has been older and taller kataang wouldn't get so much hate i guess.
@@Valentaeinmate you call us toxic but epitomise us to one thing mock us try and insult us or I should say try they aren’t very good insults but seriously how are we the toxic group
I personally think Katara and Zuko are better together, because so much of the show has been telling us that opposites attract that we need Yin Yang. The show is constantly putting similarities between Katara and Zuko. my other reason that I’m just not a Aang and Katara shipper, is because first of all she is always motherly towards him. She’s always having to take care of him, always see’s aang as a child And when you’re trying to build a romantic relationship, that’s not a good basis to go off of . My true main reason why I will never like Aang and Katara together is the interview with the creators where they talked about how they were Aang and they were in love with the older girl, but couldn’t get her,so they wanted to make a character who got the girl. Outright telling us that it doesn’t matter if Katara likes Aang or not, aang is going to get the girl. And it shows katara never outright shows her feelings towards him, and if she does have any feelings towards him, it’s very forced. i.e. the fortuneteller scene, put in her head that she will marry a powerful bender and then sokka says Aang is a powerful bender and now she’s thinking about aang
How could I get this interview? It's always addressed by older zutara shippers but I don't know which one is (I'm not implying you lie about it, I'm on your ship, but I really want to see it with my eyes because bryke's statement is baffling)
@@castaliafierce8466 I originally saw it on tv when the show was still running. It was a bts commercial where the writers where talking about why they created the show and the characters. I sadly sent know where to look to find it, but I'm sure you can search interview about the show from them hopefully it will pop up.
Kataang is absolutely better literally in the last episode showbhin her true feelings 2 the age doesn't matter lol and aang build up way better and just accept that
What I find funny is how the voice actors of both zuko and katara thought they would end up together and was surprised when it was Aang and katara. Well at least we got American dragon jake long
Honestly I could have been happy with either, but I think Aang and Katara are great together, and the relationship is really earned and slowly built over the course of the series!
For how the show was there wasn’t enough time for Zutara, people always bring up the “enemy to lovers” trope which I do enjoy it has to have time so it doesn’t feel rushed, though out the entire show Katara hated Zuko only liking him for 6 episodes. With Kataang we got to see the ups and downs of their relationship and how they grow.
Being with Zuko morphed Katara into a vengeful grimlin. It was good to have someone who shared her views, but I don’t think they’d work in a relationship. Also, having Katara become the fire lady of a nation who committed mass genocide on her family and culture seems sickening and kind of stupid.
When I first saw the series, I didn't really thought about shipping characters. Although my personal favourite is Zutara for its potential, I like kataang and many others. I think the only one I actively dislike is maiko, because their personalities clash with each other, there's cero understanding. To me, in a realistic setting, the most compatible girl for Zuko seems to be Suki and I'm glad this ship appeared with the new fans.
Zuko and jin are so underrated in my opinion. They actually made each other better people, and Jin was the first person in the earth kingdom to accept Zuko as a fire bender. When Zuko and Katara are together they both gradually morph into vengeful gremlins. It was good for Katara to have someone who shared her same views, but I don’t think something like that would’ve worked in a relationship. They’d argue A LOTT.
@@YeibaldreamssJin technically didn’t “accept Zuko as a fire bender” because she’s a resident of Ba Sing Se. Like everyone in that city, she never hated fire benders or knew what they were doing.
Sameee i dont hate katara and aang being thogether but i just hate the fact that he is in some kind of romance at 12 YEARS OLD thats why i also shiped toph and aang beacuze they were both kids when they were together not a teenage "mother" freind of the group and an immature akward kid crushing on her
@@ivankadebeljak3957 I agree fs. Kataang works perfectly once both katara and Aang are older. Toph and Aang sounds really interesting but they’d be the absolute WORST PARENTS together 😂
I prefer Zutara. Remember the fortune teller said Katara will be with "a powerful bender"? That could apply to both Aang AND Zuko, they are BOTH powerful benders. I can make a list of plot evidence but I'd be here all day. Plus, imagine harmony being restored with a marriage between the Fire Nation and the Southern Water Tribe, giving the world reassurance that they will not slip backwards.
I prefer Zutara, as even though it seemed to develop later, their interactions seemed to be on more equal ground than Kataang. As an example, Aang seems to be the one expressing his crush towards Katara from the beginning, but as shown in the scene at 0:31 into the video, Katara wasn't even interested and a bit weirded out at first. Of course they become friends, but it seems a bit forced imo from Katara's side, especially since at the end where Aang kissed Katara at the play, and Katara told Aang she was confused, HER feelings in the matter are never resolved; it just cuts to the end after that amazing scene with her and Zuko at the end with her just kissing Aang (which, as a first time watcher, weirded me the hell out, as he is AT MOST 13 by series end, and Katara is 15; as a woman, I would never have been interested in someone younger than me at that age. As an adult? Sure. We are both mentally and physically mature by then, or at least on the same level). When you first started this video, from the sentences you used and the way you explained each ship, I can already tell you are not unbiased, as you clearly lean towards Kataang as your explanations for Zutara are a bit shorthanded and sound rather shallow imo. I get you want an unbiased debate here, but a lot of your...phrasing kinda made you sound like a Kataang fanboy. We can only infer what Katara is feeling, but we cannot really say for a FACT what she is feeling towards Aang as it's never addressed. Like your comments about the play kiss scene, that is all conjecture, however, as a woman, I will say being kissed without permission is a HUGE no no. No matter the reason for the reaction. Especially if said girl/woman was clearly trying to get said boy to back off and give her the space she wanted in the moment (he did not respect her enough for that). Unfortunately, without Aaron Ehasz and his wife at the helm of writers for Korra, Katara was relegated to...housewife and healer and pretty much raising her kids alone (also WHY does she not get a statue, but everyone else DOES?!) which if we watched the same show, Katara is a go getter, "I will not be relegated to the HEALING HUTS!" dominant woman. I feel sad that she ended up that way in Korra with Bryke. (also I hate Bryke for their BS video where they made fun of fan art and Zutara without permission in public! Disgusting!) Essentially, sorry for the rant, but if you are going to post a debate video, please try to do a more in depth character study into BOTH sides; don't show a clear preference for one or the other, but present all facts and known issues for both sides. I can see the appeal for Kataang, and the Kataangers can enjoy their canonicity. But I cannot, will not, and never did ship it. From the very beginning there was something between Katara and Zuko that fascinated me; and I don't me the bad boy BS or opposites attract or that they would look good together lol. It feels more subtle and deeper than that imo.
Ugh very well said couldn’t agree more🙌🏽 while I respect people who ship Kataang and maiko I personally reject those pairings cuz in my mind they just didn’t work well together🤷🏽♀️
Very well said! Was actually surprised he didn't just declare kataang the winner because, as soon as the comparison talks started, you could very clearly tell the bias he had towards one side of the argument! Also hate when he brought up the 'they have a family together' bit! Feel like too many people use canon children as justification to prove that their ship is superior, but the creator's decision to give them children shouldn't automatically make them the winner! Especially if the relationship wasn't built up well! See that same argument all the time between Ichihime and Ichiruki shippers from Bleach. Character A crushes on B from the start, yet very little, if any, reciprocation takes place so the audience ships character B with C, who they seem to get along with better, only for the couple the creator was shoving down your throat to be the winner, big shock. 🙄
Sorry but there are a lot of issues with this. At least in terms of looking at the actual show and not the wish fulfilment which is trying to validate zutara being canon at all. Which it’s not and never will be. I notice how you ignore the majority of the show in an attempt to suggest that Kataang is ‘forced’. No contextualisation to ember island players. No acknowledgment of episodes where her feelings are clearly shown to develop; the fortune teller, the cave of two lovers, the avatar state, i could go on. The constant tui and la, Oma and shu symbolism. Which Zukaang has aswell and is by far a better ship than Zutara. No acknowlegment of Katara witnessing him die and be in a coma and how that may have impacted her. stating YOUR preference in an attempt to make him appear ‘’ immature? Next to Zuko which is something that is totally irrelevant. Do you realise that BOTH Kataang and Zutara have a two year age gap? Also emphasising how Aang is at MOST 13. Why not mention that Katara’s would be 15 at MOST as well? Why not mention that, with that logic Zuko would be 17 by then? Once again trying to make Aang appear younger, more immature and Katara older for Zuko. Once again this is very telling of how biased this argument is.
@@smoothey7962 I don't think you understand that the difference between 12 and 14 is drastic. ESPECIALLY with Aang. And ESPECIALLY with someone like Katara who's dealing with that amount of emotional baggage. Aang is immature and his crush on Katara is immature and only surface-level. Katara and Zuko both had to grow up because of a loss of their mothers, they had to find themselves, they had to deal with that pain. With Aang, he doesn't understand the sheer loss that Zuko and Katara feel. He gets over the loss of his family in one season. For Zuko and Katara, it was something that obviously cut far deeper because of the amount of times it was brought up. They have those scars but Aang doesn't.
13 or not Aang was the AVATAR, paint the picture how you want it but Aang had the edge from the jump. Also KATARA is the one who initiated the kiss in the tunnel NOT Aang. Ofc Katara and zuko will relate because they are similar age plus been through similar battle scars, in the dynamics of relationships to me it’s always opposites who attract, Katara with her trauma, and Aang with his somewhat clean spirit. Zuko and Katara had similiar upbringings in a way to where I think being friends would have been more beneficial. Don’t get me wrong I’m a huge Zuko fan but what imo messed them up was when they had a heartfelt convo in the crystal tunnel and zuko betrayed her. It’s not like he did it intentionally but girls remember things like that and once the trust is gone it’s gone!
i prefer zutara personally but tbh i could see all three of them just as friends. i really hated the last scene of the show when aang and katara kiss because it was so cliche and felt so forced after what had happened between them just one episode before
It also felt forced because for most of it Katara treated Aang as a younger bro/child and it's naturally jarring and strange to see someone make out with someone they spent an *entire* show treating as a mom. It just hit all the weird vibes. They are a good ship on paper but the execution was meh.
I know right, the scene between them before the kiss was Aang yelling at Katara and Zuko calming Katara and telling her to let him go. That's their scene before the kiss, like how? That kiss was so forced and hard to imagine. To top it all, it was portrayed as passionate. 😑
@@talisa222no😂 You can't call his mother 14 years old child and aang is 12 and much smarter them everyone in the gaang with katara Katara fell for him from S2 and she hide it Kataang is easy way better than zutara colonized/colonizers from creators impossible to works romantic lol She never act like aang mother so aang act like her father when he save her life💀 Stop the lies and accept the fact kataang is the best ship + read and comics with our relationship
@@nikosmihailidis9440well look at who I run into again mr I’m gonna tell people they don’t know what good writing is you kataang shippers really are quite passionate also their last on screen interaction in atla before the kiss was them shouting zuko and kataras was them risking their lives for each other
@@namzeditz4212 canon ship its shit, because a fortune teller forced it on her. if she didn't know she would never think of Aang as a lover. It was shity couple all time. Aang thought like a kid, and I haven't met a girl yet who prefers kids when girls start to fall in love with someone.
I prefer kataang, i know kataa g may not look cool for some because of katara is older, but believe me, when aaang grew he became hotter and taller than zuko, aang with bald head Still looking good, that's a plus for him. And besides katara loves aang so much even till her old age
Both Kataang and Maiko only felt okay because it was always cannon and the writers didn’t let us forget it. If they never added any kind of fluff scenes between those relationships no one would be like “yes Aang and Katara should be together” or “Mai and Zuko should be together” lol I feel like any story analysis would think Katara and Zuko could end up together. There wasn’t really any kind of fluff between Zuko and Katara besides June joking about Katara being his girlfriend and Ember island players episode. If those scenes never happened I’d still ship Zuko and Katara because of their dynamics 🤷🏽♀️
Even though there is no kissing scene from Zutara, I feel that there is something romantic between Katara and Zuko. First, when Zuko wanted to apologize completely to Katara. He helped Katara not to be crushed by a rock while at the western air temple. Second, when Zuko was so determined to help Katara find who killed Katara's mother. Third, time saw the theater on Ember Island. Both of them sat far from each other. I can see from the expression on Katara's face, that she seems to have a cat's embarrassment (sometimes Indonesians call it that). Likewise with Zuko. But he was even more embarrassed. Look at his blushing cheeks. Fourth, time they were in the crystal prison in the earth kingdom. Both speak to each other. Then Katara made an offer to heal the wound on Zuko's face. It could be, so it is canon zutara.
Aah, malu-malu kucing 😂 Just realised that after you mentioned 'Indonesian'.. Well, I agree with you, Zutara had more romantic scenes even without kissing..
In my opinion we had more Zutara scenes that Kataang. Cause at the Zutara scenes it was between the two and in kataang int was Aang's side only. Even their kisses. I don't count the last one cause it came from no where
ZUTARA IS OUR CANON COUPLE. THE END. 😂 Kataang is really cute until the last episode of season 2. When we learn that Aang is attached to Katara to the point that is not healthy and Zutara is introduced.
As a kid, watching the show as it came out, I shipped Zutara from the Water Scroll episode onwards. But rewatching it as an adult, I think that had more to do with visual chemistry and which couple was more fun to make fanart/fanfic of than anything in the actual story. A lot of fans who were girls kind of saw ourselves in Katara, and Zuko's always been a more interesting character to romanticize than Aang, but that's not the same thing as being a well-written romance. There are plenty of indications through all 3 seasons of Katara having romantic feelings for Aang, and there's really not anything close for Zutara. The crystal cavern? Pales in comparison to her interactions with Haru and Jet, let alone Aang. The hug after the mom vengeance quest? It's a hug, we've seen every other member of the gaang hug each other in precisely the same way multiple times and no one treats those as any more significant than exactly what they are. I'm part way through a rewatch, and there have already been like 5 big dramatic Kataang hugs, each of which lasted longer and looked less platonic than the one Zutara hug. I don't begrudge anyone who still ships them, I get it, they look good together and there are a lot of fun tropes there to play with. But in terms of what is or could be canon, I think a lot of us were reading things into the text that weren't actually there (at least, I know I was back when I shipped them).
I agree, a lot of Zutarians seems to be based off "what could be" or "narratively this would have worked" and not based off what actually happened in the show.
@@vukodlak3962 That's because the romantic side of the show was poorly written and left major plot holes. Katara never expresses feelings for Aang and all of their moments together prior to the kiss were of them pulling away from each other. As a result, the kiss felt forced and many people don't like it. I don't think she should have been kissing Zuko either at that point, just that it would have been an interesting relationship for both of them.
@@lauraw2526 that's not entirely true. If you go back and revisit the secret tunnel episode, Katara's the one who suggests kissing, and while in the circumstances it's partially motivated by getting out of the tunnels, the WAY she brings it up and kind of insecurely jokes about it is definitely not how someone would talk to just a friend. And it's not a coincidence that this all happens after the fortune teller, "very powerful bender", "I suppose he is" revelation. Even in later seasons when things are more complicated, she doesn't seem or say she's disinterested, she says "confused", which is not how one typically describes non-romantic feelings.
Kataang is what I personally love. Ever since Aang woke up from iceberg and gone through his struggles, Katara was always there. You can how their bond developed. Zuko is an amazing friend for both Aang and Katara.
I personally like both ships but kataang definitely makes more sense, as their relationship was built up over the course of the show. I love Zutara as well but Zutara would’ve never happened, considering that Katara doesn’t become friends with him until the third season.
Zutara could’ve happened but it would’ve been REALLY short lived. They don’t better each other in any way like Jin and Aang did. Jin really brought out the best in Zuko, it was so great to watch.
Zutara is a hot ship- enemies to lovers. But Kataang is wholesome and beautiful. Maybe because I like how much Katara cares for Aang. I'm a little biased because it doesn't seem fair for Aang. He deserves a girl like Katara.
Zuko really brings out the worst in Katara, to some extent it helped her to have someone who supported her fucked up views but that doesn’t really work in a long term relationship. Personally, I loved Jin and Zuko so much. Aang and toph sounds more interesting than Kataang, but it’s not as wholesome.
Kataang is better in my opinion cause show would be bad if zatara is gonna be the ship cause like Harry Potter we wanted Hermione and harry together and it ended up bad and Imagin that in avatar when zutara was gonna end up together and air nation wasn't gonna be back cause ang didn't love anyone other than katara thats why I like kataang cause it's lovely to main characters stay together
Kataang is superior in my opinion, because Katara only forgives Zuko a couple of episodes before the finale, while kataang had such a great build up. Doing zutara in the end would just seem forced, even if it happened in the comics. Also, I think even though there was some zutara-ish moments in the show, I don't think it was enough to bring a whole relationship around. But I can see where zutara shippers are coming from, they would look good together, and opposites attract I guess.
No. They aren't opposites lol. Far from it. Kataang's buildup was literally just Aang forcing his affections onto Katara. We've seen romantic hints and tension between Zuko and Katara, it being mutual rather than Aang's continued affections and Katara's mixed feelings. When Katara sought out the man who killed her mother, Zuko didn't advise her against or for anything. He simply let her be her own person, knowing that different people deal with their emotions differently, rathe than Aang, who continued to force his beliefs onto her. (It's the same with his affections) The main theme of the show is overcoming the chains of the past. What better way than to put Zutara together as a beacon for peace? Katara's the one always giving affection, always being there for everyone. Zuko listens to her trauma, and for once, she was the one being comforted. Maiko and Kataang fell flat in a storyline standpoint. Aang is very attached to Katara. VERY ATTACHED. He sees her from an angelic point of view. She's flawless and a beacon of hope in his darkest moments. Which is fine, until you realise you really don't have emotional connection between the two, and considering there's a whole episode on overcoming that attachment. Zuko's the first person Katara's really opened up to, and him her. They relate to each other and understand each other's moral values. They wouldn't be so perfect for each other if Mai's obvious emotional disconnect and lack of understanding wasn't there. They wouldn't be so perfect for each other if Aang's clear lack of understanding wasn't there. The first time Zuko opened up to Mai, she yawned, and told him she didn't really care. When he's conflicted about going to a war meeting, she brings up the last time he went to one, and basically told him that his emotions aren't relevant because it could be so much worse. It's the same with Katara. What did Aang do when she wanted revenge? Forced his philosophy onto her. What did Aang do when she said she was confused? Tried to kiss her. Whichhhhhh brings me to my next point :) (Yes it's the cavern scene.) The scene in the crystal coves brings a striking resemblance to the ~secret tunnel~ scene. - The lovers separated by war, their colors were literally red and blue - The crystals (duh) But what makes this scene different than the first and more important? The difference between Katara's reactions. In the ~secret tunnel~ scene, Katara kisses Aang (a physical act) and runs off like it's nothing. In the cavern scene, however, she bonds with Zuko, understanding his trauma, understanding that they share a moral compass. When Katara leaves, this time, she lingers, and you could see how much it hurt her to part ways with him, the only person who truly understood her. She made an emotional connection, which cements itself deeper than any physical act can. Aang and Katara's relationship lies with pretty declarations of love and physical gifts. Zuko and Katara's relationship would lie in the wounds they carry, and the sense of peace and calm they bring each other. Why this scene feels more romance-based rather than friendship-based is that a major aspect of their characters is the redemption and acceptance of lost love. Katara has been in need of someone to heal past wounds of love with what? The act of love that she needs to heal. Zuko's arc is more in the light, obviously. He's also been searching for the love he's lost. How do you repair wounds like that? With love. (Sorry I said love so many times lol) And for a final point, Kataang always felt a little... forced. Like the protagonist got the pretty girl at the end. Zutara felt natural, especially that Zuko was beginning to see the world outside of the stereotypes, and marrying a waterbender would've made the arc perfect. The best ships actually help the character's development and the plot, so Zutara would've completed both Zuko's arc (stepping out of the stereotypes) and Katara's arc (forgiving the Fire Nation). And also Aang's plot of letting go of his affections.
@@kinda_cold_in_the_closetIt makes me laugh that a lot of things you say about Zuko, like Katara supposedly being the first to forgive him or the first to open up to him are actually false; Aang was the first to trust Zuko. Zuko was the one who opened up to Aang while he was unconscious. Katara was quite content to let him die in the snow if it wasn't for Aang in Book 1. Katara is the one who threatens to kill him if he dares to hurt Aang. The Ba Sin Se scene isn't even romantic, it's simply a bonding moment of Katara realizing that the prince of the Nation who killed her mother also suffered losses. He is also human. But it's not even close to a romantic moment. And do you know why I say this? Because when in Book 3 Zuko remembers this supposedly great moment of love again, he doesn't care about Katara or what he went through with her. Nope, he just remembers that she could heal Aang and that maybe he isn't dead. Basically, even after they both opened up, he still thought of her as "the girl who's with the Avatar". Also, when did Zuko understand Katara? In Book 3 he still doesn't understand why she's mad at him and EVEN after she tells him why she doesn't trust him, he has to go to Sokka to get him to explain. And no, Aang wasn't forcing his belief. He was helping her. Because what any good friend would do is advise another and help them not to do something they might regret. What's more, he lets them take Appa even when they're taking him without permission. In the same way that Katara stopped Aang from killing the sand benders in the desert, he helped her. And in the end, even Zuko admits it. I could go on but I just don't get how they pull off these supposedly romantic moments that are like TWO while Aang and Katara have more scenes and chemistry.
@@atanor9787 im back to say that i like both couples now; my problem with zutara is what u said, that there aren't enough scenes, though the writing potential is great. and with kataang my problem is that aang didn't really show katara the recognition and closure that she needed. i would say that yes, he was trying to help katara, but it wasn't what she needed. zuko encouraging her to do the opposite of what aang told her to do was what actually helped her to understand aang's pov. i feel like the one thing that would've helped was if they had the final scene just as they did, but like this: _aang sees katara with a pensive look to her eyes. he opens his mouth to say something, then closes it. he looks out over the celebrations down below, where all the three nations are together. he looks at her._ aang: "I'm sorry your mom couldn't be here to see this." _katara looks at him with surprise in her eyes, then a look of thankfulness._ katara: "I think she'd be happy." _she looks back over the ledge, then back to aang after a moment_ katara: "I think she would've liked you." _you see the surprise in aang's eyes. they kiss._ so yeah idk it's just a personal preference but both couples are good and both have their drawbacks
Correction: Kataang had a *Build Down* Because the writers wrote themselves into a corner with Kataang. They wanted there to be conflict in their Romance, but also advance the plot. Eventually they did deliver on both of them, but unfortunately they had ran out of time to resolve any of the conflicts they set up, so they just skip it over and have them kiss like nothing happened.
I personally like Kataang more. Mainly because have this weird unexplainable feeling of how katara and Zuko only are friends and nothing more. It’s not like I forced it, when I first started watching and finished for a while I was more zutara than Kataang, but now it just feels like they would never go past friends for me. I’m still pretty salty when I see people ship zutara instead of kataang but I’m trying my very best to respect their decision and remembering I was in there shoes helps.
Addition. Fifth, when finished helping Katara. Katara, who was ready to forgive Zuko, immediately hugged him. And Zuko embraced the hug. For me that includes canon zutara. The last time was when Zuko Agni Kai was with Azula. In order to protect Katara, he was desperate to be struck by Azula's lightning. And Katara was silent. I think, from the look on her face Katara she is like Can't believe that Zuko would be desperate to get hurt for her sake. In my opinion, that's where the center point is that Zuko has a feeling of love for Katara. I think if I'm careful, both of them have feelings for each other. But buried deep. And I conclude, it is Zuko who is sincere to Katara with other people. That's all from me. Sorry too long! This is for our discussion. Greetings, ATLA fans from Indonesia! 😁✌🏻😉
Kataang for the win for me they had a better buildup where as I always saw Zutara better off as friends just because I never saw chemistry between them and they hated each other throughout most of the show until the very end that they became great friends after Zuko's iconic redemption arc which is why it didn't make sense to me for Zutara to become a romantic relationship out of no where as there just wasn't that same buildup that Kataang had from the start but I respect people who ship Zutara as I've barely discovered Zutara shippers who actually make valid points to why they ship Zutara which I respect because in the past I've seen a lot of people ship Zutara just because "they look good together" but didn't make valid points beyond that and I try to keep an open mind I feel like I would've eventually understood the romantic possibility of Zutara had it been properly developed in the show but yeah that's my take on Kataang and Zutara and everyone is entitled to their own opinion on which ship they like more :)
I know a lot of people dismiss Kataang because of the age difference, and yeah that difference is gonna seem a lot bigger because they’re kids, but you have to remember that they’re literally two years apart. Katara’s barely going into teenage hood while Aang’s just approaching it. Sure, they’re very different in terms of maturity, but relationships like Kataang have worked in real life, so I see no reason as to why it shouldn’t work here.
Still Aang NEVER showed the same capacity to emotionally support Katara, like she did with him Also the problem ,like in Southern riders, or just having 3 kids ,and only one can airbender,is that Aang 's priority will be always towards air nomads culture , without fully understand why someone Like Katara might have different emotions and morals 😅😅😅
Heres an alternative ending. At the tea shop Mai has reconciled with Zuko and decide is best to be just friends. Someone comes up with how zuko jumped before Katara to save her life and zuko blushes. Mai nudges zuko and give him a nod as if acknowledging zukos feeling for Katara. While toph makes joke about fire and water or something like that. Katara and zuko smile awkwardly. Aang realizes katara looks at zuko the way he never looked at him and learns to let go and smiles in pain. Then sokka cracks a joke nd everyone's laughing.
it's zutara ride or die baby Kataang is sweet but in the 3 seasons it barely made any development. Even after they kiss their whole relationship seems to just reset to default. Then they have two big fights/disagreements that never really get resolved and just suddenly get together at the end. Even as a kid I never liked their one-sided dynamic, it was never clear that Katara felt the same, feels more confused/uncomfortable in most scenes imo. Zutara just have something special. Every finale has an important confrontation between the two, first they fight as equals, in Book 2 they connect emotionally, and the finale they fight side-by-side and save each other. Their dynamic is always changing every time they meet, never resetting, they just keep growing closer. Not to say they should've had a big dramatic kiss by the end, but it wouldn't be too hard to believe they caught a bit of feelings for each other after all that.
No😂 Katara forgive zuko in the last 5, episodes and in comics after become couple with aang he hurt katara again cry and accept zumid is the worst Atla ship Kataang had way more consistent development and everything better than zutara lol Zutara is worst than zukka lol 0 special Zuko mother is alive they had different trauma he help her only for forgiveness Katara many times try to flirt aang Definitely not strange-uncorfotable she always care for aang more than all she blush and they fit lol kataang is better +creator say zutara is impossible for romance Colonized/colonizer
I prefer Zutara, mostly bc Aang is too young for Katara and Zotara could be like Percabeth (pjo book series) if they were together- enemies to friends to lovers.
I feel like, with aang it was basically just a childhood crush, you can tell by the way he acted throughout the series, I mean he kissed her 2 times and expected them to automatically be in a relationship. But with zuko they actually had a dynamic, also she didn’t have to act like a mother towards him, like she did with Aang, sokka and toph, plus, zuko gave her the closure she needed by helping her face the man who killed her mother. To me, aang dosnt seem as mature as katara or mature enough to be in a relationship, but zuko is.
There are so many things wrong with this argument but what’s really weird is how you try to point out how immature Aang is yet completely ignore Zuko being creepy, possessive and throwing a temper tantrum because a guy was talking to his girlfriend at a party. The cognitive dissonance is insane. And it really shows the double standards a lot of the reasoning for this completely fanon ship is.
Zuko was her age I think older why would she have to act like a mother with him? From the 2nd ep even Sokka mentioned saving her “boyfriend”. It was canon from the jump
Zuko literally couldn’t be trusted till like the complete end of the show of course they didn’t have that kind of relationship. That’s just the way katara is due to her having to mature fast and fill that role with her mother dying, the whole point of the show is that we see aang is a goofy kid but he has to learn and make character development which he does. In that moment where she wanted to do, aang knew who katara was and knew she wouldn’t be satisfied with it but he let her go out and make her own decision.
My favourite ship is Zutara. But still I feel like they did very well with the Kataang relationship build. She feels more motherly or like an older sister to him at first because he is younger and more childish. But in progression of the series he grows up and Katara starts to realize that, so their dynamic shifts. Their first kiss still felt weird tho I won't lie 😅
If it was up to me, I'd have no romance in Atla. Only that Aang has a crush on Katara but he never kisses her or makes a move on Katara until after the final battle. Just that he is open about it like in season2 ep12. When he is unlocking his chakras, we see what attaches him to the world. Not only his romantic feelings for Katara, but his family love for his friends Sokka, Toph, Momo and especially Appa. But Kataang is the best👌
Um, thank you! Someone finally said _something!_ I personally think having romantic relationships in a group like Team Avatar, which to me is like one big ol' family, makes the team seem uneven. Yes, I know about Sokka and Suki, that type of stuff was still manageable, but the fact that every group member *HAS* to be in a relationship or is at least shipped with one other person messes up the love inside the team, IMO. Plus, you brought up a really good point with the chakras. All we saw that attached him was Katara. Not Appa, or Momo, just... Katara. I feel like if that's the only type of of love that attaches you to earth, that's just unhealthy!
I remember thinking a few years back that FINALLY this debate had died down. Korra had been of the air for quite awhile and nothing big had happened in the franchise since so the debate wasn’t really a thing I saw anymore. But then, the pandemic happened and the show blew up on Netflix so the ship war got going again. It also didn’t help that an official podcast hosted by hardcore Zutara shipper Dante Basco got started. The thing I really don’t understand is why some people just can’t accept that Kataang was endgame and move in with their lives.
what i don't get is why people cant accept people prefer different ships. first off this isnt the only show where a non-canon couple is prefered (Leverage a significant portion of fans prefer eliot x parker or hardison x parksd); second this IS NOT the most out there ship in this fandom, this is the internet there is NO boundries on ships; third and most importantly i dont get why the finale of atla is seen as the end of everyones devlopment and the couples are locked in stone (yes i know there are tie in comics & tlok but my point still stands) the show spans AT MOST 9 months where the oldest is maybe 17 so the fact that the internet is screaming over this is/should be the deffenitive ship of a (kids) show about a couple of minors stopping a 100 year war in 9 months is a bit weird.
@@RickeGnool first off which point? secondly not everyone has read the comics nor tlok plus tlok hardly has the gaang not to mention takes place like 70 years in the future. Also one of my points is that just because its not canon doesnt mean it cant be shipped. go to anyother fandom and you'll see PLENTY of ships that arent canon for a veriety of reasons: they're married to someone else, they're straight/gay, they're siblings (yes there ARE ships like that out there INCLUDING atla (though that's mainly Azula x Zuko because Azula's… Azula)). If your argument is only canon couple can be shipped then no one can ship Zukka.
@@addisondrake733 My problem isn't that people ship deifferent things. My problem is the people who keep whining about their ship not becoming canon despite the fact that the show ended many years ago. Seriously get over it! I have had ships that didn't happen (examples: Ichigo/Rukia, Naruto/Sakura & Harry/Luna) but I don't keep whining about it on the internet almost two decades later.
@@RickeGnool i think there are several reason people are still raging on the internet One: its from thier childhood so nostalgia is a strong force Two: the creators, from VAs to the writers to Bryke, love stirring the pot Three: Netflex (both the original & live action) amplified by the pandemic brought up old wounds again nostalgia
I really hate this argument? Why? Because this whole argument seems to objectify Katara a lot. No, she was not a reward, she was her own damn character, and second of all, she had enough agency to love and choose Aang. Zuko and Aang were never fighting for Katara, and plus, the only person Katara liked other than Aang was Jet.
I prefer Katang over Zutara I see no chemistry between Katara and Zuko I just see them as good friends and it’s nice to a boy and a girl just be friends for a change instead of ending up as a couple and I hated the whole good girl ends up with bad boy trope it always ends badly and I see more chemistry between Katara and Aang and it’s clear that they both like each other and care about each other
I think it's the opposite. Katara and Zuko have more in common. Also, Katara being the mother figure of the group and Aang literally seeing her as an angel isn't love. It's a childish crush. Katara has this hidden side that she doesn't show to anyone, except Zuko. The first time she ever opened up to anyone was Zuko. And he listened. And she listened to him. With Aang, she said she was confused, and he kissed her. She said she wanted revenge and he didn't get it. But Zuko _did._ They understand each other. With Kataang, it's more one-sided and childish. With Zutara, it's mutual understanding and maturity. And don't give me the "oh Aang grows into his love" argument. If Aang really accepted Katara for who she really is, for who she is behind that mask, we would've had a scene for that where he says he understands her. What she's going through. Then, Kataang would've been perfect. but hey, we didn't
oh gosh where to start. i have been a zutara shipper since the series ended. idk like i liked aang and katara as friends and everything but as a couple? it was weird to picture that bc i never really saw a lot of development with kataang like we did with zutara. and also i feel like they forced the kiss at the end of the series like i was so surprised when that happened. for example, katara and zuko were like opposites yet so similar. like fire and water, red and blue, yin and yang, calm and anger, etc. but they also shared that scar they had by losing their mother to the fire nation. and i feel like that is what started the real connection and stuff. like aang could never understand that since he never really lost someone that close to him (except his other airbenders but anyway). and when katara wanted to go find the man who killed her mother what did aang do? he tried to talk her out of it and convince that “violence is not the answer” (even tho i’m pretty sure he has killed many people when he has gone into the avatar state but anyway) but zuko was the one that supported her bc he knew what she was going through. and there have been many other times just throughout season 3 where zuko supported her and protected her in any way that he could. another thing i just feel like aang didn’t really grow as a person throughout the series ik he’s 12 but there were so many times when he acted so immature when he really didn’t need to. like when he kissed katara suddenly at the ember island players, like she didn’t want to be kissed she just said she was confused. but zuko we actually saw growth like yes he did make so many mistakes but he tried his best to fix them. and does aang really need a gf tho? he’s literally 12. also the scene where zuko saved katara from azulas lightning was amazing like that scene was so beautiful. it really showed their true relationship and how they felt but i was kinda surprised that they didn’t do something more with it. like that would have been the perfect opportunity for them to show their feelings. and also i feel like aang was kinda too attached to katara and only cares about her looks in the beginning. but zuko actually cares about her truly and wants the best for her. and i feel like the creators just put the kataang kiss just bc. like it was so sudden. ik that like basically the voice actors for katara and zuko and even the writers thought that zutara was going to be canon but it wasn’t. and also i kinda got the impression from the creators interview that they thought of aang as themselves and they wanted to get the girl and stuff in the end. and im sorry but what 14 year old girl would go for a bald 12 year old boy with emotional issues instead of a good looking 16 year old with a scar that she can actually relate to? i never understood that. anyways zutara is canon. ( i’m sorry if my comment might sound a little aggressive also sorry it’s kinda long)
wdym? ik she wasn’t calm calm and there were moments where she would scream angrily or whatever. but she was the one that would try and calm the group down with a motivational speech. but you’re right i used the wrong word choice but no big deal right
I mean Aang was there for Katara. Aang was trying to help Katara but instead she insults Sokka. In s1 ep9 When Katara was teaching Aang some waterbending, Aang was happy to learn from her and even give tips on how to bend. Also when Katara loses her necklace, Aang makes a new one. And even gets back the original from Zuko. Also Aang knows exactly how Katara feels about losing her mother. Aang saw Gyatso's body in ep3 s1 and went into the avatar state. .
If we had seen Kataang years later after Aang went through puberty and got hot, it would be a lot easier to ship. It's just hard to see any chemistry at all with someone who is literally still a child.
Kataang and Zutara are pretty equal in my opinion. Kataang had build up and was sort of expected from the get go. Zutara felt more unexpected, but it just makes, you know? They have so much chemistry and they have build up from the end of season 2. Zutara is obviously better. Katanng may have more build up, but damn they just felt like friends. But I'm not complaining, Katanng is a really good ship too 😊
Why would she fall in love with someone the was constantly trying to kidnap her friend? There is just way to many near death situations for that to be forgave so easily through only 6 episodes for S3 E11-16
Liar creator they say can't work romantic and shit chemistry obviously kataang is better than the mid lol Sokka with zuko is better than zutara Kataang had infinity times more chemistry and moments Zutara obv better🤓🤓🤓 liar Kataang is obviously better by far lol.
Zutara, hands down. It makes the most narrative sense, it would help the character arcs of not just Zuko and Katara, but Aang as well. Aang always put Katara on too much of a pedestal, and she always had to mother him- it felt like a very one way relationship. Aang loves Katara as his, But Zuko could love Katara as a WOMAN, and there’s a difference. Zuko by far respected her independence and emotional arc the most, and their moments proved to be very mutually beneficial emotionally and developmentally as characters. Katara with Aang always felt like she was there to supplement Aang, and not the other way around. Maturity very much matters to someone who is thrusted into adulthood as a child, and there was never a point where I think Aang by the end of the series could have carried her as much as she carried him as an individual- Not to mention the very non consensual kiss and questions about her feelings at an incredibly inappropriate time before a battle where she again showed she was irritated by having to be the rational one in the matter, What we did get was a dual fight between her and Zuko where he literally sacrificed himself for her in a very emotional display. Why? Because the two of them have a mental connection and coming together to show compassion and forgiveness means everything, it helps wrap up their arcs. Aang’s coming of age should have ended with him realizing platonic love is just as valuable to romantic love, and that letting go of Katara and respecting her choice to do what she wants with her life is the right course of action, allowing him to unlock the avatar state as the story said he should and finally seeing her as an equal rather than someone who should be attached to his hip. He could have grown and loved someone else later, but I don’t think being with the first girl in his life, let alone one that doubles as a sibling figure, did him any favors. He never feels like he grows out of his dependency on her. This does not mean he hasn’t matured at all, but no matter what people claim the developmental differences between them at that age do not make sense, girls do not look towards their younger brother figures for security and compatibility, let alone someone with Katara’s particular brand of character arc. It certainly didn’t do her character any favors. Zuko was the only character in the series who allowed her to display her issues blatantly and respect them without himself having to be mothered by her. They were on even footing and understood each other as people. Kataang makes no sense. And it’s not because I dislike Aang, I love him, I just don’t think it matches the framework of the narrative well. It’s structurally and emotionally impractical for all characters involved, ESPECIALLY Katara. If not Zuko, it would have been best to leave any potential relationships ambiguous and focus solely on the final battle and wrapping up their character arcs as individuals.
God, where to start. First of all, I wasn’t a fan of the 12 year olds in this show getting shipped in the first place. As a 12 year old I just had simple crushes mostly and as a 14 year old (Katara’s age) I was much the same, just with more texting and flirting involved. I’ve been watching this show since I literally was a child, around 12 anyways, but only as an older and wiser person have I realized that the end just didn’t feel right (with the kissing and everything). Now that that’s out of the way I can get to the meat of the issue, I think Zutara is just plain reaching. I honestly don’t get how 90% of their reasoning works, Katara flat out NEVER treats Zuko in a way that indicates that she’s interested. We know in absolute certainty what it looks like when Katara likes a guy, just look at her interactions with Jet. Book 1 has zero romantic run-ins between the two, I think we can all agree. In book 2 many would point to their time in the crystal underground prison. Seriously? Katara is literally just being herself and being kind and genuine like she is with everyone. Zuko is just being honest and continuing his development of realizing the fire nation has wronged him. They definitely aren’t similar people, as Zuko is more cynical and Katara is hopeful, so that moment was driven purely by having similar experiences of losing their mothers. Katara doesn’t get to have this type of experience with people often, even considering Sokka. Sokka just never really talks about what happened, and he admits that to Zuko later. The reason for this is possibly because he was not literally right there with their mothers murderer like Katara was, and he also didn’t just run in on their mothers corpse after the fact like Katara did. Regardless, this moment is not a special connection between Zuko and Katara. Neither is the next one. Katara offering Zuko the spirit water. I don’t understand how this can possibly be construed as romantic? I’m this moment Katara realizes how Zuko must have gotten this scar. His mother was gone because of the fire nation and his face is burned. Katara has always been empathetic and a big believer of the good in people. She has no idea exactly how powerful or useful this water is. Maybe it could heal the scar, but in her mind she’s not considering that Aang is about to nearly be killed because she’s not a seer, and she also doesn’t know that this water is capable of healing in such amazing ways as it is only described as having special properties. When Katara and Zuko meet again her anger towards him isn’t some kind of Rom-Com girl doesn’t like the guy at first crap. It’s founded on actual hate and betrayal, not a romantic betrayal either. An actual violent and dangerous betrayal. She doesn’t trust him and wants him to know she’s got her eye on him if he tries anything. After this is the Katara revenge arc. Now this is where the reaching starts. They start to get along on this mission and become friends. Zuko does this whole mission because he wants to gain Katara’s trust and do it in an organic way. Katara is not a believer in revenge in general, she’s a believer in her own personal revenge. There’s not much bonding throughout this episode but it marks a turning point in the relationship of these characters. Katara forgives Zuko for his betrayal and is able to become friends with him. And finally the final Agni Kai. This is the one scene that I think can be construed as romantic, Zuko jumping in front of the lightning. Then again, he would have done that for anyone. Azula’s lightning would absolutely have killed Katara, and Zuko knows that the only way she survives is if he jumps in and redirects it, which her does. This is the ultimate friendship moment, but people like to pull mister fantastic levels of stretching on this so if you wanna do that I guess it’s your right to. Honestly the only times in this show that Zuko and Katara have been romantically hinted at is when the writers are making fun of Zutara and when the lady with the giant mole teases Zuko. Other than that it’s all Kataang. And Kataang isn’t really as one sided as everyone thinks. First of all, Katara acts as the mother of the group for everyone. Sokka says so himself. She is very consistent with this. Secondly, Katara was the first one to actually suggest/attempt a kiss between the two. Aang expresses his feelings towards her more and more as the threat of his fight with the fire lord approaches and Katara becomes more and more focused on the war and her role in it. When Aang tries to kiss Katara she’s mostly just pissed that he’s not listening to her and that he’s losing focus and more worried about a play than about his destiny. This part of the show is the most evidence Zutara shippers have to be honest, and it’s mostly centralized around the fact that Aang messed up. That being said, there is one thing I always see pointed out that I think is the most ridiculous point shippers make, Aang and Katara’s age difference. They’re two years apart😱. What ever will they do. It’s obviously not a problem for Zuko and Katara cause age-wise 14 and 16 is much closer than 2 years right? Not sure math hard brain hurty. Seriously though, it’s a non factor and shouldn’t be pointed out. Two years from then and the exact same situation is applied to the same people. It’s asinine. Aang makes some bad choices, but he’s 12, and he constantly matured throughout the show. And obviously 16 year old Zuko is going to seem more attractive than 12 year old bald Aang to most of these shippers, but let’s not forget that all Katara wanted was a talk handsome man and Aang became easily the tallest of the Gaang and was one good looking guy so it checked her boxes for sure.
Yeah that one sided love where Katara felt awkward after his kiss and Aang threw away the Avatar state and possibly the fate of the world was so healthy. Especially their creepy age difference which has a massive gap in both emotional and sexual maturity. That was really healthy and not gross at all.
@@marzipantart And Zuko trying to capture them the whole time was also heathy lmao Aang trying to kiss Katara was gross sure but Zuko betraying Katara from the get go was less morbid lmao Aang and the entire avatar cycle was almost gone largely because of Zuko’s betrayal. That relationship is stockholm syndrome, except irl, the villain rarely becomes better. So OK, getting in a relationship with someone who was trying to kill y’all and your friends, threatened your entire village, is healthier than someone who tried to kiss you, when before that attempt, there was a consensual kiss.
@@marzipantartFunny how you describe things however suits you. You probably missed all the times katara blushes around Aang, get jealous when he is getting attention from other girls and straight up kissed him at the end. By the way, katara and zuko also have a 2 year gap just like Aang and katara do so your argument makes no sense. You people are coping hard.
Hello everybody 🤗. So my answer is longer than yours 😅. Zutara was the best for everyone. Zuko says that Katara will be his first love 💓. Aang is no match for Katara at all. I don't care about Katara I care about Zuko's happiness 😌😊. Zuko is outgoing, kind innocent handsome mysterious and a nice guy, if I had to choose Zuko over stupid Katara 💩. The creators of the anime also apologize for the Zutara ship😢, but ZUTARA FOREVER they return only in old age. Katara and Zuko are expected to be together after Aang dies. Most likely, and despite the fact that they are quite old, they are said to be in love 😘!!!! It's a great pleasure for me to see them together 😊. Look, Zuko is 16 years old, Katara is 14, Aang is 12 oh, sorry 112 years old👌🤣. Aang doesn't suit Katara at all, looks stupid and ugly on the outside. In Zutara young people are both tall 😅 and good looking. Water and fire 🔥, Sun and Moon ❤. It's nice to think about this relationship 🤩😜. I'm happy to dream about Zutara. I wish they had been together since they were young not when they were old 😢. Aang is only fit to be a barrier between Zuko and Katara😫🤬. Well,😊 let's hope Zutara comes back again!!!
I still think if Zuko married Katara she'll be more than just a healer and mother of his children Much like ang If Zuko married Katara she'll be an awesome Fire lady and he'll definitely gave the position she deserved, treated her equally and much better father than ang Kaya, bumi got into so much discrimination cause ang treated Tenzin more like his son cause he was a air bender Zuko daughter Izumi and grandson Iroh is the prove that he was an excellent father There for I think as future Zuko and Katara could have been the symbol of love between Fire nation and rest of the world more like Achilies and Helen
Crazy stupid reason 😂 Zutara doesn't work She will be fire lord woman show he burn her nation Aang and katara they create the next generation Zuko and katara is colonizers/ colonized impossible for romance and they will break up if become couple Aang isn't bad father lol you don't even understand the show Kataang Is infinity times better than zutara Sokka and zuko is better than zumid Stop emprassed yourself with lies because creators they say can't work romantic lol accept the fact kataang is better+ is good father because she married Mai if she married katara trash
I never ship Aang with anyone, because he look too young and immature for that kind of thing, till Toph where I felt they both have the same physical and mental maturity.
No wonder you only have 410 likes out of 15k views. Also, when you mentioned katara distancing herself because he was about to fight Ozai and she didn't know if he would come back alive, I feel like that goes for everyone. They all knew there was a chance they wouldn't survive. If anything, that should've made her lean into it more because she didn't know if they would have a second chance.
We must all realize Katara only felt sorry for Zuko after he told her about his mom... Let's be honest Katara kinda liked Aang through out the whole show she was just confused
I rather have Zutara, but now I have to wait until their descendants date each other, NOT the ones in Legend Of Korra, of course, but fit her down the line.
I mean i did vote for zutara but i mean exactly for the romeo and juliet thing i liked it but i respect kataang ship and tbh i knew it would end up like that but on the other hand there are no ships i defend or attack with passion (i support beidou and ningguang tho from genshin with flaming desire tho and thats the only ship) Every ship has its ups and downs and some may wont happen thats the nice thing about it
The problem with Kataang: she never happily receives his advances. Aang doesn't listen/understand her, and one of their last scenes was him mistakenly commending her for forgiving her mother's killer -- they have core differencesin their moral philosophies. Aang also had to let go of his worldly relationships to control the avatar state, and that just gets... forgotten? Another final scene between them is Katarra once again shutting down his advances, getting forcibly kissed by him anyway, and her running off. Aang disappears soon after this, and we never see how they mend their relationship-- they simply end it with a kiss. Meanwhile, Katarra doesn't leave Zuko's side at this point until the end. We've watched them grow seperately for two and half seasons, and now together they're compelling. We know that at least Zuko has deep feelings for Katarra, because i find it hard to believe he would die for anybody else except for his uncle. Anyway. She's also 14/15, and shouldn't be worried about boyfriends and love at that age! It's also icky to portray a teenager having feeling for a boy that hasn't hit puberty yet. I think the romance should've been hinted at as a future possibility, rather than what was given. It came off as child getting the babysitter vibes.
I agree. I ship Zutara because of dynamics and what not. Many people have already stated those reasons so I am not gonna to here. But what I do agree is that wether the story ended with Kataang or Zutara as canon does not matter much as in the end, well, they are young! For me, personally, I felt Aang affections for Katara symbolize the more innocent puppy love. We all got them at that age, it's normal and it's cute. But hardly enough to say "that's the best love story ever written cause the MC has a crush." I also felt like the ship fulfilled the "hero gets the girl in the end" cause Aang /deserves/ for all his hardships and hero work to get the girl he wants at the end, which for me, is not something I like much for Katara. It's not a character problem, it's a writer problem to further develop this relationship further. After all, this show was not a romance driven story so I understand for a generic explanations. I also remember how Aang felt so angry when Appa was kidnapped and Aang felt so angry about it. I read someone has pointed out the parallels on this with Aang telling Katara to forgive her mom's killer. It's not the same losing Appa and having them back over permanently losing a parent, especially in such way that it happened. I'll just end it with this. Zutara is not canon and I am not gonna stink on the canon than just pointing out general Atla nitpicks from character development and dynamics here and there. Sometimes canon is not the intensive of a superior ship or storyline, I mean, the canon on other fandoms say MCU went down for fans to accept the many flaws and logic-errors it has. So if anyone has a creative to say "maybe if this things played out differently maybe it would had been better for me personally" and share it with liked minded people who agree with your version is all Gucci. I like Zutara for the dynamics it has, the potential it might had, I do not care if it's canon or not, I'll still enjoy it for my own personal liking. I been apart of other fandoms and I had liked the canon and the fanon and I had enjoyed other friends to lovers trope to, just that Kataang didn't deliver to the park for me as my other favorite trope of enemies to lovers. I believe Zuko to be a redeemed antagonist. He has much more to learn and grow but he's in a better path by the end of the show. That's why I believe if he had ended with Katara it would be in a continuous grow and cycle for him as a better person and ruler. Not that Katara would be the reason why he's better, Zuko journey was about him to make better decisions on his own than go on a dark path forced or influenced by him by a toxic father and nation. So for me, overall, if a character is growing to be a better person it's future should stay align to that and so it's future relationships. I felt I rambled enough that I stray away from your initial comment. But thank you for sharing your stance on this matter! I hope I didn't bore you with mine 😅
Katanga for life pluse you people can't do anything about it because kataang already have kids plus age is just a number and it's nothing to love and it's just a two year difference if you can accept the boy being older why can't the girl kataang4 life
Zutara is virtually non existent in avatar the last Airbender. Kataang is canon and it’s better. Kataang has way more build up than Zutara. And kataang is way more developed than Zutara. Zuko and Katara’s relationship never went past friendship. Zuko and Katara’s relationship was strictly platonic. While Katara and Aang were close friends throughout the show, their relationship eventually developed into a romantic relationship over the course of the show. And there are many moments in the show that highlight Katara and Aang’s mutual interest in each other. Like the cave of two lovers, the dance in the fire nation, Ba Sing Se at the jasmine dragon etc. Apparently it was confirmed that Katara and Aang shared a kiss in the cave of two lovers. And how many times do Zuko and Katara kiss? Oh right ZERO. How many times do Aang and Katara kiss? Like SIX or SEVEN. That alone shows that kataang is much better. Kataang has a lot of chemistry because Katara and Aang both have similar goals, personalities, and mindsets. And they are compatible with each other because Katara and Aang have so much in common. Katara and Aang both have optimistic, upbeat attitudes, and they are both pretty calm and levelheaded. And they both have similar political views. They both agree in later comics that the industrial revolution in avatar is harming sacred environments to both the air nomads, and the water tribe. And sure, both Katara and Aang can get worked up about things but for the most part, they are both pretty calm. They are both caring as well. Katara and Aang have similar goals, because they both want to end the war and restore balance to the world. Katara and Aang both generally make good decisions, because Katara and Aang both are very thoughtful and they both think things through. And Katara and Aang balance each other out. Katara can calm Aang down or give him advice when he is facing a problem. And Aang can comfort her and give her advice when she is having a problem. Because they are both levelheaded. And they both have similar political views. Because they are both levelheaded people, they can talk to each other in a calm respectful way. Katara and Aang have a very healthy relationship. The air nomads and the southern water tribe were the two nations that were hit hardest by the war. Katara and Aang both bond over there shared loss. Aang lost his people to the fire nation and Katara’s people suffered significantly at the hands of the fire nation. The fire nation had wronged Aang and Katara and they bonded over their shared pain. Also Katara and Aang look hot together. That is mainly why kataang is better. Some people actually are stupid enough to call Katara and Zuko an “almost” couple. No. Just no. First of all, it’s either they were a couple or they weren’t a couple, there is no “almost”. And zuko and Katara weren’t a couple. Second of all, zuko wasn’t even an option for Katara. As the creators stated, they never intended for zuko to be with Katara. Also Kataang was not “forced”, it is literally the most developed relationship in the entire show. It makes a lot more sense than Zutara. I mean Katara just . I read an article by a Zutara fan and they said even though they shipped zutara while the show was running, they later realized they didn’t have any basis or reasons to ship Zutara. That Zutara fan even admitted that Kataang made a lot more sense. Zutara fans just pretend Kataang doesn’t exist because they are insecure about their ship. Deep down I think Zutara fans know that Kataang is better and more developed so they ignore it to make themselves feel better.

Wow they go so well together

@@Cloud.1K hi cloud
@@Lili_Chan_2011 hi!

Kataang til I die
Yin and Yang isn’t about opposites attracting. It’s about balance.
How could I get this interview? It's always addressed by older zutara shippers but I don't know which one is (I'm not implying you lie about it, I'm on your ship, but I really want to see it with my eyes because bryke's statement is baffling)

@@royalreviews5270 I know!!! I wish!

Nah
bro gratuated from filler episodes
The show clearly implied Aang as the powerful bender, didn’t you watch the end of the episode?

You know Katara still ended up with Aang and Zuko ended up with Mai, right?
Yes I agree
@@vukodlak3962 That's because the romantic side of the show was poorly written and left major plot holes. Katara never expresses feelings for Aang and all of their moments together prior to the kiss were of them pulling away from each other. As a result, the kiss felt forced and many people don't like it. I don't think she should have been kissing Zuko either at that point, just that it would have been an interesting relationship for both of them.
Love your reflection❤️
There's more to Zutara than "enemies to lovers"
I don't understand people arguing about fictional character's relationships. Its a kids show, just enjoy it.
Plus it has been 15 years since the series ended.
@@poppie267And people are still arguing about to this day! Honestly the arguments in here are fun to scroll through.
Can you guys stop pairing me with Katara? It makes me a little uncomfortable, she's just my friend!
(It's the same with his affections)
The main theme of the show is overcoming the chains of the past.
Whichhhhhh brings me to my next point :)
(Yes it's the cavern scene.) The scene in the crystal coves brings a striking resemblance to the ~secret tunnel~ scene.
- The lovers separated by war, their colors were literally red and blue
- The crystals (duh)
But what makes this scene different than the first and more important? With love. (Sorry I said love so many times lol)
And for a final point, Kataang always felt a little...
@@kinda_cold_in_the_closet has Katara ever show any affection for zuko tho? and alsoo katara was the one who asked to kiss in the cave
@@lildrgon. the hug, the cavern scene
@@atanor9787 im back to say that i like both couples now; my problem with zutara is what u said, that there aren't enough scenes, though the writing potential is great.
and with kataang my problem is that aang didn't really show katara the recognition and closure that she needed. i would say that yes, he was trying to help katara, but it wasn't what she needed. zuko encouraging her to do the opposite of what aang told her to do was what actually helped her to understand aang's pov. i feel like the one thing that would've helped was if they had the final scene just as they did, but like this:
_aang sees katara with a pensive look to her eyes. he opens his mouth to say something, then closes it. he looks out over the celebrations down below, where all the three nations are together. he looks at her._
aang: "I'm sorry your mom couldn't be here to see this."
_katara looks at him with surprise in her eyes, then a look of thankfulness._
katara: "I think she'd be happy."
_she looks back over the ledge, then back to aang after a moment_
katara: "I think she would've liked you."
_you see the surprise in aang's eyes. they kiss._
so yeah idk it's just a personal preference but both couples are good and both have their drawbacks
Correction:
Kataang had a *Build Down*
Because the writers wrote themselves into a corner with Kataang.
When you ship Both Kataang and zutara. 😂But Katara and aang has always a more special place in my heart.

Katara+Aang y Mai+Zuko= Parejas zuko y katara= una gran amistad

Oml, i'm a fan of atla in indonesia too😭
Sorry to break it to ya, but Zuko would have probably taken that bolt for any member of the gaang
I agree Kataang 4L💙
I know a lot of people dismiss Kataang because of the age difference, and yeah that difference is gonna seem a lot bigger because they’re kids, but you have to remember that they’re literally two years apart. Katara’s barely going into teenage hood while Aang’s just approaching it. Sure, they’re very different in terms of maturity, but relationships like Kataang have worked in real life, so I see no reason as to why it shouldn’t work here.
Kataang💙
Also, the age difference between Zuko and Katara is literally the same, so I don't see why Zutara shippers make this point at all
Still Aang NEVER showed the same capacity to emotionally support Katara, like she did with him
Also the problem ,like in Southern riders, or just having 3 kids ,and only one can airbender,is that Aang 's priority will be always towards air nomads culture , without fully understand why someone Like Katara might have different emotions and morals 😅😅😅
Kataang forever ❤😎
Heres an alternative ending. At the tea shop Mai has reconciled with Zuko and decide is best to be just friends. Someone comes up with how zuko jumped before Katara to save her life and zuko blushes. Mai nudges zuko and give him a nod as if acknowledging zukos feeling for Katara. While toph makes joke about fire and water or something like that. Katara and zuko smile awkwardly. Aang realizes katara looks at zuko the way he never looked at him and learns to let go and smiles in pain. Then sokka cracks a joke nd everyone's laughing.

Kataang is sweet but in the 3 seasons it barely made any development.

Same, they're my favorite ATLA couple
@@addisondrake733 I don't understand how your point still stand if the ATLA comics and Tlok has already disproven it.

@@RickeGnool i think there are several reason people are still raging on the internet One: its from thier childhood so nostalgia is a strong force Two: the creators, from VAs to the writers to Bryke, love stirring the pot
Three: Netflex (both the original & live action) amplified by the pandemic brought up old wounds again nostalgia

Aang saw Gyatso's body in ep3 s1 and went into the avatar state. .
zutara 4 life
If we had seen Kataang years later after Aang went through puberty and got hot, it would be a lot easier to ship.
Liar creator they say can't work romantic and shit chemistry obviously kataang is better than the mid lol
Sokka with zuko is better than zutara
Kataang had infinity times more chemistry and moments
Zutara obv better🤓🤓🤓 liar
Kataang is obviously better by far lol.

My favorite ship is Rayllum, whoops wrong show.
REAL
No, you have to acknowledge a differing opinion. You are free to call it out if it’s based on ignorance or faulty logic.
Zutara, hands down. It makes the most narrative sense, it would help the character arcs of not just Zuko and Katara, but Aang as well. Aang always put Katara on too much of a pedestal, and she always had to mother him- it felt like a very one way relationship.
Aang loves Katara as his,
But Zuko could love Katara as a WOMAN, and there’s a difference.
Zuko by far respected her independence and emotional arc the most, and their moments proved to be very mutually beneficial emotionally and developmentally as characters. Katara with Aang always felt like she was there to supplement Aang, and not the other way around.
Maturity very much matters to someone who is thrusted into adulthood as a child, and there was never a point where I think Aang by the end of the series could have carried her as much as she carried him as an individual- Not to mention the very non consensual kiss and questions about her feelings at an incredibly inappropriate time before a battle where she again showed she was irritated by having to be the rational one in the matter,
What we did get was a dual fight between her and Zuko where he literally sacrificed himself for her in a very emotional display.
Dude this comment was so long😭 I appreciate your support❤️🔥
@@AvatarDiscussions No problem😂. I realized I was writing a lot and had to cut it short
Let Me Say I Respect All Of You And What You Think BUT KATAANG FOR THE WIN ❤ DUHH
Kataang is a much healthier relationship. Zutara shippers are fond of you and me against the world or a hate each other first before romance trope 🙄
Aang lost his entire people and he is so mad when he is hurt he try to escape isn't that a trauma HUH!?👹✨️🦧
"Zuko sees what a powerful bender Katara is and treats her with respect"
Literally Zuko in that scene: You little peasant
😅 gurlll pls
this enemy to lover zutara thingy is... they should've been together and im pretty sure all zutarians would want to see the future if they were
Hello everybody 🤗.
Cry kido
Zutara stated can't work romantic cry in the corner with your mid shio
Zutara definitely
I still think if Zuko married Katara she'll be more than just a healer and mother of his children
Much like ang
If Zuko married Katara she'll be an awesome Fire lady and he'll definitely gave the position she deserved, treated her equally and much better father than ang
Kaya, bumi got into so much discrimination cause ang treated Tenzin more like his son cause he was a air bender
Zuko daughter Izumi and grandson Iroh is the prove that
he was an excellent father
There for I think as future Zuko and Katara could have been the symbol of love between Fire nation and rest of the world
more like Achilies and Helen
Crazy stupid reason 😂
Zutara doesn't work
She will be fire lord woman show he burn her nation
Aang and katara they create the next generation
Zuko and katara is colonizers/ colonized impossible for romance and they will break up if become couple
Aang isn't bad father lol you don't even understand the show
Kataang Is infinity times better than zutara
Sokka and zuko is better than zumid
Stop emprassed yourself with lies because creators they say can't work romantic lol accept the fact kataang is better+ is good father because she married Mai if she married katara trash
Kataang
I never ship Aang with anyone, because he look too young and immature for that kind of thing, till Toph where I felt they both have the same physical and mental maturity.
No wonder you only have 410 likes out of 15k views. Also, when you mentioned katara distancing herself because he was about to fight Ozai and she didn't know if he would come back alive, I feel like that goes for everyone. They all knew there was a chance they wouldn't survive. If anything, that should've made her lean into it more because she didn't know if they would have a second chance.
#kataang
We must all realize Katara only felt sorry for Zuko after he told her about his mom... Let's be honest Katara kinda liked Aang through out the whole show she was just confused
I rather have Zutara, but now I have to wait until their descendants date each other, NOT the ones in Legend Of Korra, of course, but fit her down the line.
I mean i did vote for zutara but i mean exactly for the romeo and juliet thing i liked it but i respect kataang ship and tbh i knew it would end up like that but on the other hand there are no ships i defend or attack with passion (i support beidou and ningguang tho from genshin with flaming desire tho and thats the only ship)
Every ship has its ups and downs and some may wont happen thats the nice thing about it
KATAANG OR BUST
But hardly enough to say "that's the best love story ever written cause the MC has a crush."
I also felt like the ship fulfilled the "hero gets the girl in the end" cause Aang /deserves/ for all his hardships and hero work to get the girl he wants at the end, which for me, is not something I like much for Katara.
Kataang ❤
Katara and Zuko are better imo
That’s why a new war started

Zutara
I Prefer Kataang
Katara can calm Aang down or give him advice when he is facing a problem. And Aang can comfort her and give her advice when she is having a problem.
The answer is clear I think. Kataang is awesome and Zutara is trash.
Zutara is lust. I can't stand it.
you know what, fuck it, Zukang
