I got sober in Clancy's Pacific Group.. I owe my sobriety to Clancy's foundation and program of action (I have 29 years +). He saw me in a coffee shop some 6 years after I left the PG and he remembered my name.. I didn't think he even knew who i was. When i had a day sober I almost walked out of his backyard... angry that he was calling everyone near-do-wells (I later learned this was part of his jest). My AA eskimo friend ran after me and dragged me back.. and I fell in love with his Saturday softball regiment. I owe my life to AA; Clancy, and his brand of the program. This took me way back.. a great listen. Thank you AA.
Dude was my dad's sponsor. As a small child, he sent me postcards from every state he visited where he was helping other drunks. I love and will miss this man forever.
6 years of sobriety today. Treating myself tonight with a message of courage strength and hope from Clancy. AA has saved me from living a life of hell. I am truly grateful for the love and support I have received from the fellowship.
This video was posted exactly 1 week after I gave sobriety a real shot. What a crazy roller-coaster ride of emotions that first year was. Lasted about 19 months before a relapse. Went out over a petty resentment and a bad case of self-pity... No thing is so bad that a relapse won't make worse. So glad I made it back in! Next October I'll have 5 years, SO SO GRATEFUL!! ♥️
I sobered up September 21 1941 which is also my belly button birthday.....That November of 1984 Clancy came to Cheyenne Wy to speak.....Loved the talk.....We had him back for our Gratitude Banquet November 2015 ....Great speech again....Love listening to this man....I am 76 now and have lived an extra 30 years because of AA.....
I lost my job of 20 years 6 days ago .... Struggling really hard right now today is day 3 for me ..... losing my house and family This speech helped me tonight
I loved listening to him. After five or six times of hearing him speak my husband and I saw him at the World Conference in San Diego in 2000. We packed the place out. 🙏🏼Thank you Clancy, the west coast distributor of small Catholics as he put it. He was one of a kind.
Didn't know Clancy had died - wow - knew he was helping them big-time downtown L.A. - The Midnight Mission - A.A. - leading thousands more into sobriety. Much respect to our cherished leader.
I found Clancy on You Tube today, never thought to look. What a blessing. I listened to an old cassette tape of his over-and-over again in 1992 when I was new. His words on that cassette tape helped me more than I can adequately describe. They have been with me everyday for my 30 years of sobriety. Rest in Peace and thank you Clancy. 🙏🙏
Sweet William in Bozeman and gave me a copy of Clancy many years ago and he said kid go home and listen to this guy and bring it back to me tomorrow and tell me if you still think you're crazy that was the summer of 1992 and it kept me sober and gave me insight into my real problem which is not ingesting alcohol it's living with this brain. Clancy saved so many lives by helping little Knuckleheads like me understand that the solution to the problem isn't stopping drinking it's learning how to live.
Clancy and AAers like him who don’t sugarcoat the Solution are what saved my life 10 years ago. Love you all and hope you’re finding life in the Solution ❤️

I'm new to this round of recovery I'll have 3 months 3/15/2021 my sponsor told me to listen to AA related podcasts. This had me laughing, relating, and crying. I'll tell you and anyone else willing to listen that he described what's been happening in me what I've not even been able to describe myself. Thank god for this man and thank god for everything that lead me to this moment.

Pacific group had a lot of funny ways, but they sure have helped thousands stay sober who in turn help tens of thousands stay sober. That's a bunch of broken people getting well and living amazing lives. Whatever works. Bless you Clancy I.

The purpose of AA is to do very slowly what alcohol did fast: to change my perception of reality and making it a friendly place, to change my relationship to people
In 1991 , I had been in AA for 2+ years and couldn't get sober. I called the Mission in California and was told to come on over , he would help me get sober. I left Montana drunk .My truck broke down in Vegas , and I never made it to California. But ,In Vegas I did run into some sponsees of Clarence Snyder and found sobriety. Thanks Clancy for getting me to make that trip. God works in crazy ways.
Thank God Someone captured these great messages of Entertaining Wisdom! I met Clancy 30 years ago in Tahlequah, OK. My first several years, daily I played & memorized many of his tapes, especially the Disease of Perception, along with The BB Study by Joe P. & Charlie McQ... I Am So Grateful Those Three Wise Men Provided Me A Foundation & Understanding Of The AA Program. I Am Honored To Have All Of Their Autographs In My BB!... RIP Clancy!...
@@kerriann8441 If you find friends & support in AA then there is nothing wrong with attending those meetings. They generally ask that you substitute words that imply alcohol as your issue. However many alcoholics also have a drug problem & right up front the Big Book clarifies that alcohol is a drug!... I Myself initially found the best support in AA. But I went to both NA & AA for years. Today I tend to go to AA Meetings because I find more quality sobriety there. I would be looking for a temporary Sponsor to help you with your immediate needs. If they have years behind them in the Program, they will be willing to help you sort this out. Also I found more quality clean time in the city meetings like in Tulsa. After attending some of their NA Meetings I was more able to go back home to my rural meetings & find those who had quality in the NA Program.
I love the fact that alcohol isn't the problem, its the void that alcohol fills that needs addressing. And the idea that alcohol is a self induced psychosis. Insightful.
Clancy and Tom K. are two of my all-time Hollywood heroes. Legends who've saved trillions-of-show-business lives in Hollywood, oh and not just Hollywood people/lives - everyone, every occupation, all walks of life. Honesty saves lives, and these two are among the most honest/honorable Gentlemen on the planet. Tom K. drove 35 miles from Sherman Oaks, CA and at 11 p.m. at night. To the club Clancy started many years back on Ohio very close to the Veteran's compound. For I'd just moved West, ran out of money, was partying too hard - i.e. not taking care of business. Tom K. basically gave me Life in Hollywood - breathed it back into me and by Caring. Love you Tom, love you Clancy - thanks from the very bottom of my heart. This goes to L.A.'s strongest group/people - the Pacific Group. Despite his hilarious talk here, Clancy's won at all walks-of-lives, having once invented the advertising slogan and campaign for Elsie-the-Cow. A campaign that made ME want to get, go into advertising. Sure enough advertising on huge Madison Avenue was my first professional job post grad school - i.e. Toyota Retail serving the tri-state area of NY, NJ and CT. Might look Clancy up over the Holidays, i.e. go down, give volunteer service at "Midnight Mission" on Skid Row. ...
There were two old timers at my first meeting, they took an interest in me and are probably the only I've stayed sober, one was a sponsee of Clancy, I got to spend an afternoon at the old timers kitchen table with Clancy.
I hope to come back to this comment one day and be proud of my self… I’m 2 days sober and I’m having a rough time but Im willing to do whatever it takes to stop. Lord be with me 🙏🏾❤️
I’ll be 3 years sober on September 7th!!! 🥹 I am forever grateful I stumbled upon this video that very dark and lonely day. If you’re ready this and thinking about quitting. Get to a meeting. Lean on sober people around you and stick to it. If you want your life back you have no other choice but to put in the work! One day at a time 💕
My neighbor Bill and I hitchiked to LA in 1967, and ran out of money, and another Street person suggested we knock on the door of th Midnight Mission and ask for a meal and a flop. We knocked on these black (?) steel doors, and a growly old bastard opened it and asked what we wanted. We told him what our Street guide said, and Clancy looked at us,i we in our 20's, and snarled and said, "get out of here, you haven't suffered enough." 10 years later, on 3/24/1977, I had my last drink, in So. Calif, and in my first 4 Years of Sobriety and Service Work, got to know Clancy, Paul O. Chuck C, Annie, and other local speakers. and never joined Clancy's Saturday yard group at his house, but always got a hug from these 3 Men, as we met from time to time throughout the Country. They were "water walkers," to we newcomers and never lacked REAL humility. I left Calif. in 6/81 with my family, but these Men and many others live in my heart and Recovery today and everyday. TYG.
What a powerful message Clancy has,I wish he would have come to the 75th anniversary of the first perrmanet AA meeting in los angeles at the Cecil hotel on 6th and main, It was the most awesome day and night of AA fellowship I have ever experienced in my 31 yrs.of sobriety. God bless you Clancy sincerely Bruce S. San Pedro Alano Zig Zag Club 3/29 / 2015
I was listening to Clancy on a RUclips recording and I came upon your comment. I don’t know you, but I can certainly pray for you. Believe me, I know how hard it can be, but it can be done what my sponsor drilled into me was to keep my head in just today literally take it one day at a time he suggested not tell myself I’ll never drink again. all I need to do is tell myself I’m not going to drink today, I have 42 years sober now just one day at a time. If necessary go to two or three meetings a day for a while to jumpstart things. I’ve been a little out of sorts lately so today I’m going to 2 meetings and I’m going to do that for the next couple of days. Almost without fail it works every time after a couple of days of multiple meetings a day. I’m back on track and feeling good again. If you happen upon my comment and you wish to text me back you are welcome to. My name is Mark, I am in New Jersey and you can text me if you want at 908-500-5736. I wish you all the best never give up.

Clancy set the standard for Alcoholics Anonymous in Southern California unfortunately it sucks everywhere else too bad I used to live down toward the specific group though I never knew Clancy himself
Clancy's sponsor Chuck C said in 'A New Pair of Glasses' something along the lines of 'there is room in AA for only one Clancy' he is a showman, has done a lot of good for drunks, I have met him twice in UK and very much enjoy his sharing.
One of my favorite Clancy quotes, “People with less than 5 years of sobriety should not be left unattended on your property.” 😂 So true…. Takes about 5 years to heal the brain… ❤

Thank you Mr. McDonald. In reviewing my comment though I realize I should have also commented to Mr. Perry that although I do not agree with his comment everyone is entitled to their opinion, and I appreciate that he is seeking his own knowledge to add to his own portfolio. For that I respect his investigation of recovery videos and wish him all the best in what might be observed as his own work on applied recovery, if indeed that is the case. I believe alcoholics, recovering or not, are all kindred souls who need to support each other for the long haul! My apologies Mr. Perry.

@@kerriann8441 I hope this helps You. But if I can do anything further, do not hesitate to reach out!... Keep Coming Back!
I love the fact that alcohol isn't the problem, its the void that alcohol fills that needs addressing. And the idea that alcohol is a self induced psychosis. Insightful.
In Russia, we love American speakers!
We like Russians to. Happy thoughts for you guys
MrVASDAS in England we love mother Russia
In UK we love American speakers too
God Bless!
Despite his hilarious talk here, Clancy's won at all walks-of-lives, having once invented the advertising slogan and
campaign for Elsie-the-Cow.
A campaign that made ME want to get, go into advertising.
Sure enough advertising on huge Madison Avenue was my first professional job post grad school - i.e. Toyota Retail serving the tri-state area of NY, NJ and CT.
Might look Clancy up over the Holidays, i.e. go down, give volunteer service at "Midnight Mission" on Skid Row.
...
So glad there's a RUclips channel for AA speakers...not sure why it took me so long to check n see ...thanks for posting the videos!
Sober 33years love the talk
Clancy , Thank you for sharing. Love the way you shared your story ; humor and honesty , followed with the solution. lots of good stuff.

There were two old timers at my first meeting, they took an interest in me and are probably the only I've stayed sober, one was a sponsee of Clancy, I got to spend an afternoon at the old timers kitchen table with Clancy.

How's it going with sobriety?
I’ll be 3 years sober on September 7th!!! 🥹 I am forever grateful I stumbled upon this video that very dark and lonely day. If you’re ready this and thinking about quitting. Get to a meeting. Lean on sober people around you and stick to it. If you want your life back you have no other choice but to put in the work! One day at a time 💕
Best talk ever I understand alcoholism now
My neighbor Bill and I hitchiked to LA in 1967, and ran out of money, and another Street person suggested we knock on the door of th Midnight Mission and ask for a meal and a flop. We knocked on these black (?) steel doors, and a growly old bastard opened it and asked what we wanted. We told him what our Street guide said, and Clancy looked at us,i we in our
20's, and snarled and said, "get out of here, you haven't suffered enough." 10 years later, on 3/24/1977, I had my last drink, in So. Calif, and in my first 4 Years of Sobriety and Service Work, got to know
Clancy, Paul O. Chuck C, Annie, and other local speakers. and never joined Clancy's Saturday yard group at his house, but always got a hug from these 3 Men, as we met from time to time throughout the Country. They were "water walkers," to we newcomers and never lacked REAL humility. I left Calif. in 6/81 with my family, but these Men and many others live in my heart and Recovery
today and everyday.
He saved my life when he spoke in North Vancouver Canada January 1976. AA love to his family. Joan I

I hope you are well now. I have 6 days and I fought like hell for that. Hang in there
The doors are always open when you are ready🤝

Getting sober in aa clancy was one thing that saved me, he could really show the reality
Thanks Clancy. Your perspective on the problem and the solution is a timeless, spot-on take on alcoholism. Forever grateful for your ability to break it down for we agnostic, intellectual, emotional wrecks.
I saw Clancy I. Cooks Forrest, PA in the 90's I'm still drinking listening to him again, I can't stop, I read the Big Book, the Basic Text, and the Bible as I drink,I'm at my wit's end,..,help
Dear Lord🕊️ thank you for allowing us to experience listening to Clancy. God 💫 I am very grateful that I have been fortunate to have been able to listen to him for many years when he was still alive and well after his passing. Thank you 🙏🤍🤍🤍✨
Don't ever tell me there isn't a GOD! GOD IS THE ONLY REASON THIS MAN IS ALIVE! AND THE ONLY REASON THAT HE'S A MIRACLE!!!!
THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE, COURAGE AND HONESTY!
THIS IS ONLY POSSIBLE BECAUSE OF GOD.

i had the pleasure hearing Clancy speak here in bakersfield ca, at select speaker meeting on union ave
Rip clancy 🙏🙏
God bless all your wonderful service 🙏
Clancy set the standard for Alcoholics Anonymous in Southern California unfortunately it sucks everywhere else too bad I used to live down toward the specific group though I never knew Clancy himself
Clancy's sponsor Chuck C said in 'A New Pair of Glasses' something along the lines of 'there is room in AA for only one Clancy' he is a showman, has done a lot of good for drunks, I have met him twice in UK and very much enjoy his sharing.
He also said that Clancy wasn't AA, hes a preacher. Pacific Group is church not AA
Joesph. Isnt that the point 😊
thanks for a great lead and sharing Calncy one of the most honest leads I ever heard.founders day 2017.
This recording touched many of my reasons to not drink today!
I have 67 days, but I really only have today so we're All In This Tog
Together
Funniest alcoholic I've ever listened to!!!!!! Love him!
thanks for uploading
One of my favorite Clancy quotes, “People with less than 5 years of sobriety should not be left unattended on your property.” 😂 So true…. Takes about 5 years to heal the brain… ❤
Wish I got to hear him live, amazing speaker.
Rest in peace my ole friend. I love you.
best one ive heard yet.
I had five months when the meetings were cancelled. I was doing well then my life fell apart. Trying to get back.
Try to remember all we have is today if we don't take a drink today then we're in with a chance we are all here for each other I for one am praying for you as we speak, you're going to be okay.
@@jameshamilton734 Thank you Jim. I very much needed a reply. I'm having a tough time of it.
@@anthonya.1359 All we really have is right here and now Anthony if it's any consolation I have nearly 28 years without it and if I'm honest this is one of the hardest times but I thank God I have people like you around me believe me we will be okay. I'm only a few finger taps on a keyboard if you need me you are not alone.
@@jameshamilton734 Thank you, man. I just watched one of my favorite movies called "Marooned" staring Gregory Peck, James Fransiscus and Gene Hackman. Than I listened to Clancy and Bob D. I hope I can get back!!! Cuomo and DeBlasio really fouled a lot of people up.
Anthony stop trying make a decision to not drink drug hurt yourself or anyone else just for today find Joe and Charlie the big book will change your life and listen to every speaker you can get your hands on we love you
Thank you Mr. Perry.
I have 11 month's sober today 7-19-23🙏🏽🥰
Great lead, glad I found this today, helped alot
