I feel you 25 endometriosis and my husband has low sperm count we don't have the means for IVF and everytime someone asks when we will be having babies it's like a rusty knife to the heart. I'm happy for the people who are able to get pregnant but sad I'll most likely never feel that joy.

I just wanted to say I am so thankful you talked about infertility and how a simple thing as telling someone they look pregnant can be hurtful to those who are having a hard time getting pregnant. My husband and I are praying for our miracle, it’s going on 4 years of us trying. I am so so thankful you two don’t have to go through this, it’s a tough road. I am so happy for you two! ❤️🙏🏻

Because Gabe is a US citizen, the baby will be considered a “citizen born abroad.” My husband’s dad is from New Zealand and his mom is from the US. He was born in NZ as a dual citizen of US and NZ. All his parents had to do to move to the US was get his passport and proof of having a US citizen parent (birth certificate)!

Your baby will have an American accent with little bits and pieces of Australian! That’s how I am with my moms accent (not Australian though). Especially if you use lots of Australian terms/slang from when your child is young, they’ll pick it up
I was very sick my first 5 months of pregnancy and my husband was my saviour! He made me endless grilled cheese and fruit loops 🥰 He never complained about needing to help around the house to keep things in line while I was resting or sick.
I got married young just like you two. I was 19 and we waited 6 years to have a baby. It was one of those things with you two especially I understood going through that part of marriage and you will be glad you had the time you did before a baby. I’m 33 now pregnant with my third and time has just flown by! Take those big moments in your marriage at your pace and don’t listen to anyone else!

I’m half Australian and my mum is from Aus, when I was little I was born in the USA and growing up I did have an Australian accent until I was put into school in America. I say many words that are Aussie slang (like mum, tea, and many others not common to USA) but my accent is predominantly American!
Same here! My mom was born in South Africa so I grew up hearing the accent and saying words in the Afrikaans language or Afrikaans/South African slang. Some things people have no idea what I’m talking about and I have to consciously think about the American word every time before saying anything 😂. My whole mom’s side of the family moved to Canada when she was younger so whenever go there my cousins have a Canadian and South African accent mix. We also get a lot of cultural differences such as people saying we aren’t South African because we are white while actually a majority of the population at the time was white. But we always are able to shut it down by speaking fluent Afrikaans and other languages such as some African tribal languages my mother learned in school. It’s really cool and I love that part of my heritage and I’m so glad my mom passed it down to my brother and I.

There are some big differences between Aus and USA so sometimes I only know the word for something as Aussie slang and my mum will be talking then realize that might only be an Aussie thing

Which is why I think of it as Aussie when talking. I know they use it in other places in the world too. It's just in my family how I think of it!
Im so happy for you guys! 😍 I feel you Jess, I was sick for 6 months with my daughter and it was the worse than the birth itself. I just wish I had that support from my buyfriend. In a way he was supportive, that he was trying to make me feel better, bring me snacks and stuff like that. But at the same time, every day he came into the bedroom, me laying in bed throwing up, asking me what I am going to cook today... Then when our baby was born, he took 2 weeks off from work, but he didnt spend much time with us. He was so focused on finishing our house, that he spend the whole 2 weeks basically outside with his dad. I felt so alone. We talked about all of this after I went through severe depression, and he apologized and seemed really genuine. Somehow I will can not get over the feeling of being let off... I dont know how i can overcome this.

My husband and I tried for 3 years, with 4 miscarriages and a ton of tests. ivf and fostering to adopt was brought into the conversation. Needed this today, our family lost a very close family friend to cancer on Wednesday it all happened very quickly as she was only diagnosed a month ago, and got told it was unfortunately terminal 7 days ago, 2 days ago she lost her life to that horrible disease. I’m not a full believer in god, but I do believe he ended her suffering by allowing her to go to the afterlife so quickly.
Thank you, Gabe, for telling people NOT to ask if they’re pregnant or when are they going to have a baby. I have PCOS and if I was trying to get pregnant it would most likely be very hard. I also have a very close friend who also has PCOS, suffered a miscarriage, had her rainbow baby boy, and then her miracle little girl. Getting pregnant was very hard for her. You just never know what someone is going through.

I’m glad you mentioned about people not commenting on if you are pregnant or not. We had just experienced a miscarriage and I had a family member say to me “so it’s just about time for baby 2 right?” And it broke my heart. You have no idea what people are going through behind closed doors, and if they are pregnant and not telling you then they have good reason and will tell you when they are ready!

I know babies are what people expect, but it’s not a realistic expectation!

True. It's is hard when people tell "oh, are you pregnant?" and you are not. Last Sunday after church one person touched my belly and said "a baby?" and I just didn't know how to get out of that situation. We've been trying for a while now and it's really sad when we have to deal with those comments.
It’s so awful when people comment on how ones stomach looks, women’s stomachs are different sizes depending on what they eat, time of the month, etc. I’m a nurse and I’ve had patients ask me if I’m pregnant when in fact my IBS was acting up. Can’t wait to hopefully become pregnant one day. Can’t wait to see you both become parents ❤️
Firstly Congratulations to both of you and your family. There are so many things that should be forbidden to ask. One thing people say often, once you’ve had a child or children is ‘when are you going to try for a boy/girl?’ It did my head in. I was blessed with two sons and people would constantly say this. I did my block though when my youngest son heard this one day and broke my heart when he said ‘Mum, didn’t you want me to be a boy’, he had tears in his eyes :( It’s not that it’s rude to say or meant to be hurtful but people don’t think sometimes about what they shouldn’t say or who they say it in front of. I’ve never forgotten the look on his face that day
I just found out I am pregnant on the 16th. It's super early so my husband and I are praying for this little miracle to make it to term but we had the same approach to "trying". We didn't plan the baby but I got off birth control in November er of 2020 and we weren't trying but we weren't NOT trying. Like we told my doctor "if it happens that's awesome, but not putting stress on our timeline" so it's cool to see you guys with the same kind of "plan". Definitely not an accident baby, but a wonderful blessing we were waiting on whenever God would allow. Praying for your baby and pregnancy and also praying for our little tiny seed of a miracle wonder baby haha my mom had miscarriages and PCOS so we didn't know how long it would take either. And my husband had severe lead poisoning as a toddler so he was told he may be sterile and never be able to have kids so it was just us hoping and praying God would let this happen when and if He allowed

I lived in New Zealand from age 1-4, Australia from age 4-7, Canada from age 7-38, and 38-41 in Australia again. Have American and Dutch parents. My accent is Canadian. Whatever accent you have by the time you hit your teens is what sticks.

Not only does asking someone if they’re pregnant hurt those who are trying and not succeeding or experienced a lost, but also suggesting that you look ‘bigger’ which can really hurt someone’s feelings if they’re not pregnant or not showing. It’s basically a veiled way of saying hey you gained weight. Just don’t say anything. If they’re pregnant they’ll tell you when they’re comfortable. If they’re not they’re not. Period.
So excited for you guys! Thank you for making the point about being mindful when wanting to ask someone about pregnancy/baby plans. It’s really hard for many of us. 💗

The idea that people can constantly send messages and comments encouraging pregnancy is unfortunately not easy and can be an extremely sensitive matter for many. I remember when I first found out I was pregnant with my eldest son (woulda been 17 years ago 😬😱) and I didnt believe it cause I hadnt been throwing up lol, turns out I was one of the lucky ones who never gets morning sickness. Ive had 4 kids (& 8 pregnancies) and never suffered morning sickness through any of them. I read once that you tend to have whatever your mother had so I asked one of my sisters whose had 2 kids and she never had morning sickness too so then I asked my mum who never had morning sickness either. You should ask your mum Jess, I bet she had morning sickness. So glad to hear its gone now though

I’m half Australian and my mum is from Aus, when I was little I was born in the USA and growing up I did have an Australian accent until I was put into school in America. I say many words that are Aussie slang (like mum, tea, and many others not common to USA) but my accent is predominantly American!
Same here! My mom was born in South Africa so I grew up hearing the accent and saying words in the Afrikaans language or Afrikaans/South African slang. Some things people have no idea what I’m talking about and I have to consciously think about the American word every time before saying anything 😂. My whole mom’s side of the family moved to Canada when she was younger so whenever go there my cousins have a Canadian and South African accent mix. We also get a lot of cultural differences such as people saying we aren’t South African because we are white while actually a majority of the population at the time was white. But we always are able to shut it down by speaking fluent Afrikaans and other languages such as some African tribal languages my mother learned in school. It’s really cool and I love that part of my heritage and I’m so glad my mom passed it down to my brother and I.

There are some big differences between Aus and USA so sometimes I only know the word for something as Aussie slang and my mum will be talking then realize that might only be an Aussie thing

Mum isn't actually Aussie slang... It's just different spelling and pronunciation from the American version (mom).

Which is why I think of it as Aussie when talking. I know they use it in other places in the world too. It's just in my family how I think of it!

Im so happy for you guys! 😍 I feel you Jess, I was sick for 6 months with my daughter and it was the worse than the birth itself. I just wish I had that support from my buyfriend. In a way he was supportive, that he was trying to make me feel better, bring me snacks and stuff like that. But at the same time, every day he came into the bedroom, me laying in bed throwing up, asking me what I am going to cook today... Then when our baby was born, he took 2 weeks off from work, but he didnt spend much time with us. He was so focused on finishing our house, that he spend the whole 2 weeks basically outside with his dad. I felt so alone. We talked about all of this after I went through severe depression, and he apologized and seemed really genuine. Somehow I will can not get over the feeling of being let off... I dont know how i can overcome this.
Thank you both for acknowledging trying to conceive complications and everything associated with it!! Can’t even tell you how many times we were asked if we were pregnant yet or when we were going to be. My husband and I tried for 3 years, with 4 miscarriages and a ton of tests. ivf and fostering to adopt was brought into the conversation. But we’re currently 12 weeks pregnant naturally 💜 hoping this is it 🤞🏻

Needed this today, our family lost a very close family friend to cancer on Wednesday it all happened very quickly as she was only diagnosed a month ago, and got told it was unfortunately terminal 7 days ago, 2 days ago she lost her life to that horrible disease. I’m not a full believer in god, but I do believe he ended her suffering by allowing her to go to the afterlife so quickly.
Thank you, Gabe, for telling people NOT to ask if they’re pregnant or when are they going to have a baby. I have PCOS and if I was trying to get pregnant it would most likely be very hard. I also have a very close friend who also has PCOS, suffered a miscarriage, had her rainbow baby boy, and then her miracle little girl. Getting pregnant was very hard for her. You just never know what someone is going through.

I’m glad you mentioned about people not commenting on if you are pregnant or not. We had just experienced a miscarriage and I had a family member say to me “so it’s just about time for baby 2 right?” And it broke my heart. You have no idea what people are going through behind closed doors, and if they are pregnant and not telling you then they have good reason and will tell you when they are ready!
So happy for you two!! And THANK YOU for mentioning that people should be more considerate. We’ve been asked so many times when we’re going to have babies, and we can’t. It is such a triggering question, and it really does dampen the mood of the day/week. So thank you for bringing that up!

True. It's is hard when people tell "oh, are you pregnant?" and you are not. Last Sunday after church one person touched my belly and said "a baby?" and I just didn't know how to get out of that situation. We've been trying for a while now and it's really sad when we have to deal with those comments.
It’s so awful when people comment on how ones stomach looks, women’s stomachs are different sizes depending on what they eat, time of the month, etc. I’m a nurse and I’ve had patients ask me if I’m pregnant when in fact my IBS was acting up. Can’t wait to hopefully become pregnant one day. Can’t wait to see you both become parents ❤️
Firstly Congratulations to both of you and your family. There are so many things that should be forbidden to ask. One thing people say often, once you’ve had a child or children is ‘when are you going to try for a boy/girl?’ It did my head in. I was blessed with two sons and people would constantly say this. I did my block though when my youngest son heard this one day and broke my heart when he said ‘Mum, didn’t you want me to be a boy’, he had tears in his eyes :( It’s not that it’s rude to say or meant to be hurtful but people don’t think sometimes about what they shouldn’t say or who they say it in front of. I’ve never forgotten the look on his face that day
I just found out I am pregnant on the 16th. It's super early so my husband and I are praying for this little miracle to make it to term but we had the same approach to "trying". We didn't plan the baby but I got off birth control in November er of 2020 and we weren't trying but we weren't NOT trying. Like we told my doctor "if it happens that's awesome, but not putting stress on our timeline" so it's cool to see you guys with the same kind of "plan". Definitely not an accident baby, but a wonderful blessing we were waiting on whenever God would allow. Praying for your baby and pregnancy and also praying for our little tiny seed of a miracle wonder baby haha my mom had miscarriages and PCOS so we didn't know how long it would take either. And my husband had severe lead poisoning as a toddler so he was told he may be sterile and never be able to have kids so it was just us hoping and praying God would let this happen when and if He allowed

I lived in New Zealand from age 1-4, Australia from age 4-7, Canada from age 7-38, and 38-41 in Australia again. Have American and Dutch parents. My accent is Canadian. Whatever accent you have by the time you hit your teens is what sticks.
My husband and I responded to “we’re you trying” with “we weren’t preventing it”. Because we also thought would take longer to conceive

The same goes for asking a young person why they're not married---it can be upsetting and hurtful. I also love how folks think it's okay to ask a young single person about their sex life. Would you ask a married couple about their sex life?

your conversations just sound like when your parents are teaching you how to behave good in certain situations. But in such a delicate and sensitive way.
Not only does asking someone if they’re pregnant hurt those who are trying and not succeeding or experienced a lost, but also suggesting that you look ‘bigger’ which can really hurt someone’s feelings if they’re not pregnant or not showing. It’s basically a veiled way of saying hey you gained weight. Just don’t say anything. If they’re pregnant they’ll tell you when they’re comfortable. If they’re not they’re not. Period.
So excited for you guys! Thank you for making the point about being mindful when wanting to ask someone about pregnancy/baby plans. It’s really hard for many of us. 💗

I remember when I first found out I was pregnant with my eldest son (woulda been 17 years ago 😬😱) and I didnt believe it cause I hadnt been throwing up lol, turns out I was one of the lucky ones who never gets morning sickness. Ive had 4 kids (& 8 pregnancies) and never suffered morning sickness through any of them. I read once that you tend to have whatever your mother had so I asked one of my sisters whose had 2 kids and she never had morning sickness too so then I asked my mum who never had morning sickness either. You should ask your mum Jess, I bet she had morning sickness.
