Liked the way Yamaha designers put all the inputs at the back of the slanted display, saving space in a very clever manner. My only complaint is the missing individual channel endless rotary encoders to control pans, EQs and DAW soft synth/plugins.
There is RND vst plugins. This console only comes with the "Element" version of the vst rack. The VST Rack Pro version comes with a combo of Steinberg and QL/CL/Rivage VST versions like the Pultec and 369.
6:40 - yeah, that's not a responsive screen (and that's better than the other one you mentioned!?) To be honest I've just bought one of these and am very glad I have an ipad too. With the ipad it's a great experience but the desks screen is too laggy. It's also not really bright enough for outdoor events. Ipad fixes that too.
So the tablet pretty much takes care of everything? 🤔 I’m looking to buy one of these but man, I’m undecided. I have a small band with 5 members. But I also want to use it for recording.
Fantastic review! Thank you for doing the interface walkthrough. I too wish they had a De-easer. Do you think it could be added in a possible firmware update or no chance? Thank you , just subscribed!
Thank you! With digital consoles, lots of things are possible with software updates. Maybe if enough of us bring it up? Start a petition? We'd be in. (Kind of joking, kind of not.)
Also, can I save/backup/restore all the user scenes on that USB drive? Leaving them on the board to be stolen or destroyed for good is not a very practical design decision.
@@blanejohnson9045 Would that be using Send/Return VST plug-ins via a aux say for putting a reverb on a vocal channel? I'm new to plug ins. But then wouldn't you be eating up aux sends that would be used for monitors? Also I'm thinking no DCAs or sub groups either. Two matrixs..
@@racesla I’m really unsure at this point if the plugins mean you can run more than 2 simultaneously. For my use, verb and compression is really all I need for my usage. I’m really interested in getting one for mixing our little cover band in bars and venues though. I’m trying to figure out if this is a good option for acoustic guitar x1, electric guitar x1, bassx1, pedal steelx1, drum mics x4, vocalsx2. Any thoughts on that?
@@racesla I just looked through the PDF manual and just like the TF series, there are no subgroups,., BUT.... this thing has no DCA's and that is a huge let down for me.
The back panel is pretty straightforward. Sorry, we will cover more of the back panel in our next videos. There's an official shot on their site: usa.yamaha.com/products/proaudio/mixers/dm3/index.html#product-tabs

Hoping for Automix in an update. Plan on using this for corporate as well.
That's great!👍
V2 update and still no automix.
Disappointing.
Best general purpose small board. QU16 or DM3 or other? Thanks for the review!!
SQ5
Both are good choices. We prefer DM3. But both are good choices. Do you like Coke or Pepsi?

Do you by chance know what Rack Case preferably a small one would be perfect for this mixer?
Why couldn't they include stand alone multitrack recording like the Presonus StudioLive have.

@@graf0king yes it does. It's a great desk and would suit your needs well. You do need a router to get the WiFi working though.

Will it power In-ear monitors without headphone amp?
I hope in the next update in the eq barr can more colouring,,like x32 ,,😢😢
Great review!
Thank you! We glad you enjoyed it.
does it do Side Chaining with the FX in it?
Can the USB port on the top also be used as a iPad/ music usb port like on the TF series?
We have not tested that. We will have to find out!
Also, can I save/backup/restore all the user scenes on that USB drive? Leaving them on the board to be stolen or destroyed for good is not a very practical design decision.
So they went back to the TF OS?
This is not the same OS as the TF consoles. Think of it as TF-inspired OS.
One thing I don’t understand is why is it called 22 channel mixer??
SuprB 💢💗🤗👍
Only have 2 effects engines is a big bummer to me for using it as a live mixer. Maybe that can be updgaded later.
Vst plug ins. Use any fx you can dream of?

Hey Yamaha everybody is talking they like the dm3, but music Demos Why.
P.S Can you send me a demo unit so I can test the music quality dm3 D
No interest in showing the back panel and it's hook ups??
