Hoarding is one of the myriad of ways OCD can manifest. Ypu obsess over the idea that you might need that object someday, so you are compelled to never get rid of it. I have OCD (actually hygiene/contamination OCD) and am also extremely susceptible to hoarding behaviour, and the only reason it's not worse is a combination of lack of resources/ independent home and a keen awareness of how at risk I am for it. If I'm a "minimalist" it's because I know I *have* to throw things out or I never will and will literally suffocate under my own refuse. Shame on Katya and you.

She's living with me now as an adult and I have to try daily to keep her hoarding tendencies at bay bc she ain't messing my place up 😂 She's been paying monthly for a storage unit to keep unopened boxes from 2008!!!! For what? IDK. She cries if I try to throw away anything. She's in denial.

My mom was a hoarder and growing up in the 90's/00's before most people had seen Hoarders, I just learned the past few years that our mess was indeed a hoard because she was a hoarder. We didn't have dead animals or trash, THANK GOD. Just stuff and boxes. Like 5ft high piles of stuff throughout our whole place. We had a snake trail we had to maneuver to get from room to room. Our table was piled with crap. The only clean surface we had were our beds and just barely. I never invited ppl over and was super embarrassed. She's living with me now as an adult and I have to try daily to keep her hoarding tendencies at bay bc she ain't messing my place up 😂 She's been paying monthly for a storage unit to keep unopened boxes from 2008!!!! For what? IDK. She cries if I try to throw away anything. She's in denial.
