Really appreciate the comparison. I'm a bit jealous of the Pilot E95s. I really like Pilot pens overall and purchased an E95S for a "pocket pen" -- wonderful fit, excellent nib but alas, even posted, it was just too small for my hands. My eldest daughter has small hands so she was the happy inheritor of that one.
Great Review Cathy! I started an exercise similar to yours a while back with my Japanese pens and had similar results. I will say you definitely taken it to the Next Level by your wonderful assortment of inks and paper assessment. Well done!
Excellent video. I appreciate that you showed the nibs and talked about the tipping. It’s so interesting to see the wildly different methods of grinding. Thanks also for the comments about ink and paper. I learned a lot! And a Lamy gold nib is now on my wishlist. 😸
Thank you! I got a loupe last summer so that I could check the alignment of the tines of problem nibs. That's when I started to notice how different each brand was.
Great video! Totally agree, the feeling of a nib on paper is very relaxing. Also, feeling the subtle differences between nibs/inks/paper is also very enjoyable and fun :) It’s a little like finding differences in wines, it opens up ones senses in different ways
Hello, my angel...what a voice...) Plz can u help me...I want to write a book in summer. What i need to buy, for long writing, pilot 74 or platinum 3776? Whats u prefer and advice? Love u from Russia, be healthy and happy, my lady!
Thanks for the review. You seem to like finer nibs than I do, but it was interesting. Also a Lamy fan here. The older Lamy Studios have a more rubbery/plastic section. Much much nicer. I think the metal section was a mistake made by Lamy.
Thank you! That's a great idea. In fact, the next time I use my CP1 or my Logo I'm going to put the gold nib on it. I may never use a Lamy steel nib again.
Nice video Cathy ! I love your collection of Japanese gold nibs ! A great guide for Japanese fountain pens ! My best nibs are mostly German steel or titanium nibs (Bock, Faber-Castell, etc) which are smooth in general, but stiffer than the Japanese ones.
Thank you! I also enjoy my Faber Castell extra-fine. It's a pretty nib that's enjoyable to write with. I've never had the opportunity to use a titanium nib, but I would like to someday.
@@gadgetstop321 I think you'd like it. A titanium nib has a very soft feeling when you write with it. Brian Goulet has a video about the Titanium Bock nibs on Karas Kustoms fountain pens that is quite accurate (I think they flex it too much more than one would in everyday writing, at least I don't -LOL)
Most of these pens were filled using an ink syringe. However, when I do fill a pen from the bottle, I fold a paper napkin to form a point and use it to absorb the excess ink.
Thank you! Teaching math may have its challenges, but isn't it great having a career where you can any wild colored ink you like? The notebook I'm using in this video is a Leuchtturm Bullet Journal.
I teach 7th and 8th grade...the 7th graders were wanting to color. In my experience with younger children at church, they don't like to color because they HAVE to color at school. My JH students have begun to enjoy coloring again because they don't get to very often.

I'm sorry to hear that, but it's understandable. I have small and it fits me just right.
Nice video! Thanks for the closeup look at each tip.
Thanks! I was surprised that Pilot was the only brand that had perfectly rounded tipping.
gadgetstop321 And it is probably the least expensive.

Thank you! I get a kick out of testing different pen, ink and paper combinations since I've discovered how much of a difference each component makes.
The fun you have with your pens that you described at the end of the video is just the same as what I like to do. Thanks for the video!

The mentioning and comparing of tipping and grinds is really impressive!
Thanks Ryan!
I have just discovered you can buy a black plastic section (or cover section) for the Lamy studio for not much money! :) so I am getting one!
Excellent comparison and perspective on gold nibs and thank you for sharing this.

Seems, Pilot Custom 74 F is very versatile. Thanks for your info.
Thanks I've been shopping gold nib pens and this is awesome.
You're welcome! This was a fun video to make...and good luck on your search.
Excellent! And, I have no idea why I'm just seeing this now! 😁

Very useful video 👌.,you can swap your studio nib into CP1, just my opinion..
Thank you! That's a great idea. In fact, the next time I use my CP1 or my Logo I'm going to put the gold nib on it. I may never use a Lamy steel nib again.

Great info. Similar comparisons of inks and papers would be greatly appreciated.
That's a good idea. Thanks for the suggestion!
A really great review, thanks very much. X
How do you clean the inked fountain pens' nib so nicely?
Most of these pens were filled using an ink syringe. However, when I do fill a pen from the bottle, I fold a paper napkin to form a point and use it to absorb the excess ink.
Love your videos! I’m a math teacher / fountain pen collector as well 😀 What paper are you using?

Very true! Thank you for the info and keep up the great videos!
Please turn the volume UP a little. Thanks
Ok. 👍
"can we just color?" Boy that brings me back :D
What grade do you teach? :)

@@gadgetstop321 thats funny. We want what we cant have haha
This is the perfect video for me, but I am guessing you already knew that.
;-)
Thank you for this video!
You're welcome! 👍
Gracias desde España 😊
Thank you for the video , very interesting .
I love your accent!
Thank you! 😀
The Lamy Studio and Safari use the same nibs. Look on the internet to see how to change the nibs, very easy.
Thank You for the comparison.
You're welcome! I have a Lamy Logo that I don't use very often. I'm going to try the gold nib in it.
@@gadgetstop321 how did you like that Logo with the gold nib? I was wondering if you had tried it on your CP1
thank you!
You're welcome! 😀
