I have this bike. I immediately changed the bar/stem combo which is -12 degrees to a enve m6 25mm rise bar and stem. For me, someone who doesn’t race, it feels more comfortable with the higher front end . Great review Mo!
I made the same modifications.
I feel like they should have done that but understandable given the demo behind this model
This has been the most relevant bike review series I have seen recently. XC / Downcountry is the future of mainstream MTB because who likes to climb? Im being honest and I have crashed more on these types of bikes but they just need to keep getting more capable so they can handle rougher stuff.
I have like a 6 : 1 crash ratio on my Blur vs my Ripmo. You really have to pick your lines better and pay attention on the XC bikes.
Thank you!!!
I love climbing
Modern trail bikes (not enduro as I often see people over biked) are awesome at climbing and much better on descents
@@episodesglowthey are awesome at climbing but not even close to these bikes. I promise you
You are doing an awesome job on the test riding!! I’m enjoying each of the episodes!!❤
thank you so much for the support!!! 😊
This bike exploded on the world cup scene earlier this season with a ton of podiums via the Specialized Factory Racing Team. Looking forward to see that team members race in a few weeks at the Paris Olympics.
Would be rad if they won!
Or for the same price buy four Chisel FS comps and start your own bike hire company.
The chisel looks awesome!
Would be great if you can also review Chisel and other more affordable down country bikes! Otherwise great job! :)
Makes me feel good about my new build! Nos 2017 Sworks Epic frame with xt 12 and Fox 32 factory. Alloy wheels and cockpit. 25.2 lbs with pedals in size xl. Surprised I was able to get close to the weight of this for $2800 total. And it rips. So fast and fun.
So rad!!
Hopefully a review of the chisel FS is on the cards?
Mo, how come you didn’t include the Santa Cruz Blur in this group? Would love to know your thoughts on the Blur C. Thanks.
24 lbs without pedals, thank you for showing real weight! My big sticking point is the money they charge and rarely do they weigh near what they claim. 🤬
I think this is what they say it weighs, it is an XL!
So how much of this comparison relies on flight attendant? Did you ride the bike in full manual open mode for a more realistic comparison to other bikes? Specifically the Yeti ASR.
I ran all bike fully open for portions of the test! The yeti and they epic ride very similar suspension wise!! Biggest difference is geo. Long/short with epic in terms of reach/chainstay and short/long for yeti
@@moandhannahtravel looking forward to the summary review. What would be nice for us weight weenies is a frame weight of each bike tested, considering all the parts being hung on them ‘can’t be the same. This way, we can gauge which bike could be the lightest.
You made an interesting take about an everyday bike. The Epic is a pure racer and you miss out on some of the comforts like the longer chain stays. It might not be ideal as the one bike in your quiver, but certainly the one you'd like to have on race day. I'm the same height as you and I like a longer wheelbase. I'm involved in quite a bit of XC racing and generally don't see the kind of chunky stuff you tested on, other than a small section here or there. The XC and Down Country bikes are kind of blurring a bit. As much as you liked that Transition and Evil on the downhill, I've never seen them on race day - at least not yet. Also interesting to note there were no 100mm / 100mm travel bikes - maybe bike companies are starting to move away from them. I'd really be interested in seeing you ride a Trek Supercaliber and Top Fuel on this trail and hear your thoughts. The former is a pure race bike and the latter is their Down Country, but I see people racing both.
@nhguapo Do u see anyone on the Allied bc40??? That thing blurs bikes like the spur and the epic even more so.. Probably what I'll be going with.
@@flow2techI see a few riders on BC40s at Georgia XC races. It’s mostly Epics and Supercals though. I’m the only Mach 4SL
@@samharris82 It's nice being an outlier on a sick rig isn't it..🤣
@@flow2tech I don't see a lot of Allied. It looks like a great bike though - single pivot with flex stays. I'm sure you'll like it.
@@samharris82 I'm in AZ and we love Pivots out here.
How did the suspension feel when you hit that chunky up when it sounded like your AXS drivetrain was going to explode? Bet you wish you could dump gears right then.
Suspension felt awesome! Unfortunately I
Still find transmission to be a bit slow for me. I
Prefer older axs!
i think mo smiles in his sleep
Nice
Thanks!
My dream bike scott ransom
That one looks so good!!
You should buy few of them for a RUclips giveaway!
That would be rad!
The number of batteries to keep track of on this bike makes this (model at least) a hard pass for me…love my Epic EVO gen7 though!
It’s a lot but technology is rad!
I guess Specialized gave up on the World Cup bike?
I think it still has its place!!!
That somewhat different version of a xc hardtail
World Cup is the new epic, epic is the new epic evo, epic evo is the new stumpjumper, and the stumpjumper is the new stumpjumper evo as far as how the bikes ride and how capable they are. That’s just my opinion.
@@brassmnky33 very good analogy
I prefer the Kona Lava Dome.
The bike that funded my Santa Cruz Bronson 😂😂
I would be interested to see what you think about Pinerallo Dogma XC ,Scott RC World Cup, and Canyon World Cup CFR but there are too many XC bikes out there to review 🤣🤣🤣
Oh man we are exhausted from this one but have a feeling we might need to do another one soon 😂
