Advocates react to shocking video showing employees throwing away food meant for homeless

- Our hidden cameras caught employees with the LA Homeless Services Authority throwing away cases of food meant to be distributed to those less fortunate.
Please investigate why these LAHSA employees are on the clock and getting paid to shop at target, Starbucks etc. these are billable hours being reported in your payroll system. These actions are automatic grounds for disciplinary action!
Nothing will be done. City jobs pay alot and their workers aren't held accountable.
Because if they don’t use their whole budget it gets reduced, they have to use it all and then some, this is how you make sure.
Ask the cops about filling up their personal vehicles with gas at their private stations, I see 20+ personal cars daily getting filled up here in San Diego

I absolutely KNOW that the food they threw away could be distributed and eaten. ("Perishable" my ass. That's both an excuse and an abuse of their authority.) There are PLENTY of places to deliver that food, where it would go to good use. Every single meal would be consumed.
Those packaged food things probably cost the county $5-$10 per pack. They're not cheap to assemble. Probably paying union or living wage rates.
When i was homeless i asked la family housing for food and they said they didn't have any food. Liars

My family lives on a shoestring and rarely do we have leftovers to dispose of. This is criminal and it’s high time these reprobates are fired and new policies and oversight staff are brought into place.

LAHSA has an $800 million budget, yet Elvis Summers who was building tiny homes for $1,200.00 for the homeless, had his homes tour down. This is bureaucracy at its finest.

Homeless where the cheapest dump sells for a million. If the government really wanted to help these people when it comes to government housing instead of just renting they could offer a rent to buy option. That way they'll build equity.

This reminds me of when I was a kid and got payed to distribute flyers. We'd throw them in the trash and call it a day. I was KID around 11 or 12 yrs old, and was only paid $15 per day. These people are grown ass adults getting paid $5,000.00-$7,000.00 a month. Total assholes

Homelessness is not as big problem in conservative cities, but there is an explanation for it. The main reason for homelessness is fentanyl, and other drugs addiction believe it or not. If you do not believe me, you can find Michael Shellenberger's interviews here on RUclips. Liberal cities have laws that attract homeless because addicts can support their addiction there more easily. The main one is you are allowed to steal from stores for up to $950 in Cali, and no one will bother you, police will not even come even if they had an officer available. In my town the law says you can steal up to $500 worth of items, and that nothing, so there are no as many homeless like in Cali but we have almost as good camping weather as southern Cali. I go to Texas, and they do not have such law that you can just steal from stores as you wish, so their addicts migrates to the west coast where they can simply support their addiction. Stealing from stores, they call it boosting.

Stop demanding government handouts! Work! I'm 18 and worked my way up to Starbucks manager making $19.15 in N. Dakota, but some gets deducted because of Social Security which is unfair, and I'm hoping to one day buy Starbucks and pay a minimum wage of $25 to all of the baristas because I was one too. You don't see me demanding free things. I may be young, but I know a lot about life.
