Dr. Mix, your fans can also not thank YOU enough for bringing us along on this tour to appreciate the creation of these beautiful quality instruments. Truly the high performance Italian sports cars of the keyboard world!
The last statement at the end hits the core! This is the European way to make high quality things in a factory. With passion and empathy for the workers while of course keeping in view the customers and what it’s all for - in this case passionated musicians and finally a heavenly thing: music
Great vid, thanks. Kudos to Fatar/Studiogic for keeping their manufacturing in Italy and not outsourcing to China. I have several keyboards with Fatar keybeds and a studiologic sl88 controller; excellent company.
I am an American of Italian descent and I am also glad that Fatar continues to manufacture in Italy. I am aware of the instrument manufacturing tradition of Castelfidardo and Recanati. As a young musician most of my music store purchases were from a very well known and loved music store in Philadelphia known as Cintioli's. I believe that the owner, Benito (Benny) Cintioli, (now sadly passed on) was originally from Castelfidardo. He used to sell his own Cintioli brand accordions in the store along with anything else a pro musician could want. Cintioli's was legendary to all Philly musicians for over half a century. All four of my grandparents (as well as my mother) emigrated to the USA from Italy in the 1920s and my father's family is from Ascoli Piceno which is in the same region (Marche) but about 20 miles south. I have owned a number of synthesizers of different makes that all had Fatar actions (it was hard to find one not named Yamaha that DIDN'T have a Fatar action.) I also owned four different QuikLok keyboard stands that were all manufactured in Recanati--unfortunately it seems they have moved most of their manufacturing to China--at least for their products that are sold in the USA. I am here today because I have been considering and SL73 and/or a Numa. This video was fascinating and very interesting. Thanks to Doctor Mix for making it available!
Studiologic, the creator of Fatar keyboards, is one of our Italian prides installed in every prestigious brand worldwide. They are the Ferraris of keyboards. Moreover, products like Numacompact 2x, NumaPiano, and Sledge are phenomenal objects. These design and production realities need to be defended with determination and promoted. A national pride 🇮🇹
I just found out they were the makers of the Sledge and it made me cry, since that's the synth I had my eye on. Ordering next week. A lack of Fatar keys is the ONLY instant no-sell for a keyboard synth for me.
FATAR is a bit like the Ferrari of keyboards in product and corporate ownership/management sense. Italian people dedicated to their craft, doing one thing and doing it well. Congratulazioni anche a FATAR e all'Italia!
One week after reiceving my Numa 2x, I mistakenly plugged it to the wrong AC adapter: 30 V (from my vacuum cleaner) instead of 12 V. Result: black smoke. Surprisingly, the keyboards was still functioning when plugged to USB-C, but I lost the ability of using the speaker and to connect it to the PC as a midi controller. I then opened the keyboards, detected a burned capacitor, swapped it, and the keyboard is now fully functional. I can say that the keyboard is very well done, and easy to disassemble and fix.
Gianni Giudici is a kind and fantastic person. About a year ago I bought a Numa X Piano 73, an excellent instrument that I use regularly on stage. I wrote to Gianni Giudici asking him if it was possible to include in an update firmware the possibility of adjusting the sensitivity of the keys with different values between the lower and upper part of the keyboard. He answered me very kindly and a few months later the firmware was released that allowed you to adjust the sensitivity of each individual key, exceptional! I am really satisfied with how this company works, maximum seriousness and attention to customers!
I'm a proud owner of SL73 midikeyboard. Being the cheapest in Studiologic family yet it delivers a very nice feel and velocity control. Perfect for your terabytes of sampled piano libraries.
As italian I am proud to see a winning combination of craftsmanship and industrial management. Linked with love of music. As an owner of an SL73 Studio, and Mixface, I am happy to confirm that everything works perfectly and gives an extremely good final product. I recently tested a NumaX Piano GT and I think that the key feeling is the best on the market. I hope they will keep on with this method, because it works perfectly.
This was in my opinion the best insight in a keybed and synth factory on your Channel - and its a european Brand, really great. In every step it could be seen the passion and professionality of a keybed manufacturing market leader. What I never thought is, that every keybed must be calibrated. I own a new Fantom 8 with wooden keys. I hope that the Roland keybed has not the same problems which had the wooden Fatar keybed in the past. But the Fatar CEO said, the Problem is already fixed.
OMG, I've been a keyboardist since high school which was in 1980's, this was a great info video for me. I did not know how much work is put in making Synth keyboards, for this I thank you for this video and all the workers in this company. WOW
Great video! As an engineer who worked in former times in production engineering I love to see which machines they use and how they automate testing and quality control. There is too little appreciation in this world for the great technology achievements in modern production engineering..
My thrift-store M-Audio USB keyboard convinced me more than anything that; the Fatar keys are the most important part of making a synth feel good to play. This was a great video bro.
I was already a fan of Fatar keyboards. With this factory tour and seeing the passion of people, I'm even more fan than ever. Thank you Claudio, and thanks to the people at Fatar.
Thanks for the tour! Fatar is an amazing company. Coming from the classical piano playing, I love their keybeds, both piano and synth. I use SL88 Grand (TP/40WOOD action) and it's amazing! I once contacted Studiologic's support and it wasn't just premium, it was ROYAL. Gianni Giudici, one of the best European performers on the Jazz organ, answered to all my questions himself!
Un plauso a Claudio e ai ragazzi della FATAR per aver girato tutto il video in inglese invece di affidarsi a un comodo italiano con sottotitoli... sono sicuro che gli iscritti al canale abbiano apprezzato. Bellissimo tour come sempre!
I'm a bit disappointed that the whole tour was in English. I would have liked to hear them speak in Italian. If you are a proud manufacturer of Italian keybeds, be proud of your language too and promote it! I think it's not too much to ask of viewers to read subtitles, if you don't understand the language. (I do understand Italian, but even if this was a tour of, say, Yamaha's factory in Japan, I would prefer to hear the native language and would happily read the subtitles).
@spotlight-kyd Yeah, I agree. I understand why he did it, but I was hoping (and expecting) to hear everyone speaking Italian. Very interesting and fun, nevertheless. Btw "viscount" is pronounced VY-Count 😼
A very good tour. Thank you. I appreciate that it was done in English. because subtitles make it hard to pay attention to the scene that’s being talked about. This is the most valuable 'inside-industry' video I've ever watched. Thumbed!👍🏻 Not because it's posted by DrMix. But for it's the first one this type and really informative. Thx DrMIX~

Fatar keybeds are just gorgeous! When they are married to a Studiologic keyboard/controller they have so much 'feel'. You get so many nuances out of them. I really love how this company concentrates on the primary interface between a player and their instrument. I've played some truly awful keybeds that are spongy or springy (and I mean like flicking a ruler on a desk) in my time and it really makes a difference. Their organ keybeds are awesome too!
Hey Caludio tnx heaps for that video, as an industrial designer myself I'm always amazed by the sophistication of collective work, an the sheer boundless ingenuity of humans (and your music too). Is just unbelievable how much thought goes into anything is designed and produced. I think if people had more understanding of how much work requires to produce things they'll be more mindful and less wasteful with their own stuff. Love your work! keep it up!
Great video! Whilst watching, I noticed my SL73 ease itself toward our TV screen. I'm sure I saw it shed a little tear as the factory tour progressed. 🎹
I enjoyed this video so much I was inspired to comment for the first time. What an incredible factory, I could feel the passion. I'm inspired, thank you.
Thanks Dr - another fantastic tour! I just purchased a SL88-Grand and received it yesterday. Really interesting to see the factory and process where it was made and shipped from. Gotta say -- the touch, feel and quality on my new SL Fatar keybed is exceptional. No wonder, watching this video.
One of your best videos 👍👍👍 That factory and the Italian passion that goes into the products is amazing - probably just the opposite of a "clinical" Japanese product ( love them both though ) 😃
Thanks for the visit. So inspiring to hear Gianni, Marco, Simone, Marco and seeing the orchestra members who are making these musical instruments with passion. It convinced me to order a Numa X Piano GT. I should receive it by the end of the week. I can't wait to play with it. I am an alto saxophonist and composer. I will use this piano as my main keyboard and for recording sessions at home with special guests pianists. Grazie mile a tutti !!!
This is the most informative video on keyboard research that you will ever find. It's mind boggling to think about escapement measurement and key velocity. Simply breathtaking. Thank you Dr. Mix. This only adds to the education of musicians and their instruments.
Claudio ❤😊 absolutely brilliant, probably my favourite Dr mix video of all time! Taking us to witness the gold standard of keybeds in the making. So inspiring and reassuring, thanks so much, I will be moving up from the SL88 studio to the Numa piano, your great documentary has confirmed my choice. ❤👍
Wow! Having come from an electronics manufacturing and technical background this is an amazing state of the art process, and I really appreciate the expertise, attention to detail, and quality that goes into each instrument. Thanks for all the time and expense you put into sharing this tour with us 😺🤘
So good to see you doing this. People need reminding how much thought, care, skill and dedication goes into products we all take for granted. I love these guys, always pursuing the best that can be.
Thanks to Fatar and much Love goes to them. Brilliant video, thanks to doctor Mix Background: I get an old Grand piano from my Grandfather , which was build in Berlin. I played it every day for around 10 years (not as classic player just as music lover and learned compsing) in my 20qm Childs room Then I started work in music shop and get in touch (away from home and reference) with many big brands (Roland, Yamaha, Korg etc) in the 90ies, but all this was away of my learned feeling of keys. In the year of 2000 I found a masterkeyboard from Kurzweil (with Fatar Keyboard inside). It was for me very near to the feeling I learned. And I still use this great piece of Fatar now over 20years - and it still works. as a professional DJ I was, as composer I am , as keyboard teacher i was for Yamaha school (and never get warm with Yamaha keys, who also do a lot mechanical simulation of piano keys and I never get warm with) I am so thankful to Fatar and my next will be again a Fatar Piece Love snd Thanks to FATAR! ❤
What a wonderful tour! Just another reason why filming gear is not so important as you can see a lot of stuff is recorded using a mobile phone. Brilliant. It is all about a creative individual! I admire their attention to design and detail. Amazing.
I still have my Studio 88 built-in Flight Case model controller. I love that it has multiple midi out jacks, 3 of them. So you can zone the controller to output different key ranges to different midi out ports, each with different velocity responses, midi note ranges and so on. Super flexible. A great controller and the keybed is really nice. A bit worn in after all these years, but still plays nice, especially controlling my Reface CP. A perfect duo.
Great video thanks so much!!! I REALLY wish Studiologic would start making organ keyboards again like the Numa Organ; or even a proper organ style MIDI controller (Fatar TP/80 semi-weighted waterfall keybed) with faders to map to drawbars, and buttons and switches to map to rotary, vibrato etc. There is NO waterfall keybed MIDI controller on the market today which I don't understand, with so many great organ VST's out there!
Excellent, my favorite keyboards ever! Super interesting tour of this awesome company, a *key* part of many instruments we love. We need more videos like this!
The content is amazing. The enthusiasm infectious. I have a Fatar keyboard in one of my synths (Modal Cobalt 8X). But mainly wanted to comment on how humbling it is to have an Italian visit an Italian company in Italy and everyone speaks English for our pleasure. Truly humbling.
This kind of stories are the most beautiful things to me… What a great company, thank you for the tour and thank you Fatar 🫡 Big salut 🫡 from France, ViNZ.
Italy has produced some really, really solid worldclass synths! This place looks absolutely amazing. 21:54 She is a trooper! May my future wife have this job 🙏 Mama mia.
Memories are made of this FATAR and also you BRO from even the olden days! Cheers! I used to deal with nearly all of those brands mentioned for Indonesian market. Love FATAR and becoming so accustomed to the touch character of their keys. God bless FATAR company and family. This is really amazing!
OMG! I never realised that my Fatar keyboard is one of the original keyboards. Not a synth, just a MIDI keyboard... Really heavy solid construction. Feels great playing it. Great vid as always! 👍🏻🇬🇧😎
Loved this. I have always had a fascination with how FATAR engineered and produced excellent keybeds as I have disassembled/repaired a lot of them from synthesizers. Thanks for making this video.. LOVE AND RESPECT!
Very fun and interesting video. It's really impressive that they're still able to manufacture keybeds and full keyboards in Italy still in 2023, even hand building them, and still remain competitive. I'd love to get a StudioLogic SL88 Studio at some point in a near future to replace my crappy M-Audio midi-keyboard. Perhaps next year ^^ I think I've probably hit the limit for what my boyfriend will accept of new gear acquisitions this year 🤣
Such a great tour video Thank You! And I would like to thank first the ladies (and gentlemen) for their work who assemble and test the keys through which we "feel the music" directly. Big hugs to them too.
Really really nice video. I used to work for a company In Castelfidardo that produce electrical transformators that you can find in 80s italian keyboards and synthesizers. The most sad is to see the ELKA factory as Industrial Archeology site. I think that this area deserve more company like FATAR...Italian synts were so special. I hope that you went in Porto Recanati to eat fish on the sea with a good wine :) Complimenti a tutto lo staff di FATAR per la loro disponibilita' oltre che bravura.
Thankyou Doctor Mix for taking us with you! Intuitive cool instrument design on the outside, super tech complicated on the inside. Italy has always been at the forefront of plastics technology. It really shows here!
What a PHENOMENAL VIDEO!!! thank you so much Claudio!! you're a ROCK Star!

Man, this is absolutely amazing! Thanks to Studiologic for making this great work.
As an engineer I always love seeing manufacturing processes. The mechanics of the key bed are quite intriguing to see.
Bellissimo tour. Ho una numa x 73 e ne sono felice, grazie ciao
Won't touch anything but a FATAR.
And oh well, I own a sledge. Yes. The yellow one. Keep up the good work Claudio!
Mr Doctor Mix!

@spotlight-kyd
Yeah, I agree. I understand why he did it, but I was hoping (and expecting) to hear everyone speaking Italian.
Very interesting and fun, nevertheless.
Btw "viscount" is pronounced VY-Count 😼
@@spotlight-kydThe damages of globalization...
I never intended to buy x piano..
But after this show?
SOLD!
A very good tour. Thank you. I appreciate that it was done in English. because subtitles make it hard to pay attention to the scene that’s being talked about. And I very much appreciate the workers trying to do their job in spite of the interruption of the tour… I hope some of them see this and know that their frustration was appreciated and hope their work quota was not damaged.
My goodness.. Doctor Mix, You just keep rolling out the great videos!
This was super interesting!

Now I am completely convinced that the S88 keyboard is worth every penny. It is not easy to get access to a factory. Thanks for sharing.

Great show. We all appreciate FATAR keys for quality build and feeling.

Amazing tour! The manufacturing technology they use, QR code inspection data, optical comparators… beautiful Italian floor workers… Great vid!
Marco Ragni grande persona, degnissimo erede del mitico Lino. Great video Claudio!!! Respect to Fatar!
Awesome video and props to Fatar for allowing that much access to their assembly workline. 👍
Since I'm a proud owner of the Studiologic SL88, this was a fantastic insight into the making of the keyboards from Fatar.
I'm touched. So much passion and love for the musical instruments. It warms my heart to see people like this! :) Thank you for the documentary. :)
Brilliant to watch the processes involved and also the history and passion 👍👍👍
Bravo Claudio e bravi Fatar! Proud of you both 🇮🇹

Спасибо за ознакомительное видео,респект...
Claudio, great video, thank you, and thank you to FATAR for allowing you to tour the factory and for producing the best keyboards.
I love it! Thank you so much Claudio and Fatar! This was so cool to see. For my next keyboard, I will make sure it's a Fatar.
Wow! It’s really impressive the level of modernization they apply to the process and the factory itself. Thanks for showing us this pearl of industry!
Claudio ❤😊 absolutely brilliant, probably my favourite Dr mix video of all time! Taking us to witness the gold standard of keybeds in the making.

One of the best video I have ever seen!
B.B.C. level! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Very cool tour! You gotta love companies like this that is filled with history, pride of quality and accomplishments! 😛👍
I bought an SL88 Studio Grand about a year ago and I absolutely love it.
This is why a guitarist like me is subscribed to this channel: I learn things here.
Great video (as usual). Thanks.
Yeah, this is education and entertainment! Great! 👍🏻🇬🇧😎
Thank you FATAR for allowing us to see inside your factory and thank you Doctor Mix for taking us along.

Sou um brasilieiro super fan também!! Neste vídeo além do inglês britânico temos que nos virar com inglês italiano kkk
Another Greetings from Brazil! Cheers!
A perfect duo.
most keszulok egy ilyet osszehozni, egy regi vermona e-piano vazba. szeretem ha teljes a zavar :) a CP es az E-piano mar megvan...
I am amazed at the quality and obvious love they use to make these fantastic keyboards! Great great video.....again!
Great to see how passionate they are about building the best keybed
Thanks doctor mix for this great content 🙌
Che bello vedere un'azienda italiana essere l'eccellenza in un campo! 👏 Nice tour! Grazie 😊
Excellent, my favorite keyboards ever! Super interesting tour of this awesome company, a *key* part of many instruments we love. We need more videos like this!
Thank you for providing such an organized and entertaining look into the artistry of the FATAR's Studiologic factory!
Thank you to all the folks at Fatar and Dr. Mix for sharing how my favorite keyboards are lovingly made!
Great to finally get a peek into the making of these legendary keyboards! Have been playing them for 25 years!
Excellent video! As an owner of a Numa XGT I was impressed with the factory tour.
This kind of stories are the most beautiful things to me…
What a great company, thank you for the tour and thank you Fatar 🫡
Big salut 🫡 from France,
ViNZ.
Amazing keyboards from amazing people. Thank you Fatar and thank you Claudio for this gem!!!!
This is incredible
Italy has produced some really, really solid worldclass synths! This place looks absolutely amazing. 21:54 She is a trooper! May my future wife have this job 🙏 Mama mia.
Genuinely fascinating. No wonder they make the best key beds!
It's nice to see some people in the world doing their job with such care 🎹💯❤
Thank you for the tour of inside FATAR Studiologic. I now have chosen to purchase one based upon your exposure. Thank you.
😎😎😎,,, thank u for doing this. Love it, I always wondered how it was made, and its Italian even better, love the craftsmanship,
A very interesting film. I have an Italian MIDI keyboard from the 80s - bit MIDI MASTER KEYBOARD
Perhaps next year ^^ I think I've probably hit the limit for what my boyfriend will accept of new gear acquisitions this year 🤣
Grazie Claudio, molto Interessante !
Such a great tour video Thank You!
And I would like to thank first the ladies (and gentlemen) for their work who assemble and test the keys through which we "feel the music" directly. Big hugs to them too.
Incredible, we've asked for it, 2 weeks later the video is up. Much love Claudio ❤
Great Video and great company !!!
Great!!!! i live 28 km from the Fatar srl factory.... fantastic italian products!!!
Loved this video so much - great to see the people behind the amazing instruments. Thanks Dr Mix and the team from Fatar
I hope that you went in Porto Recanati to eat fish on the sea with a good wine :)
Complimenti a tutto lo staff di FATAR per la loro disponibilita' oltre che bravura.
3 million keystroke test machine that is incredible. I love that wow
Thankyou Doctor Mix for taking us with you! Intuitive cool instrument design on the outside, super tech complicated on the inside. Italy has always been at the forefront of plastics technology. It really shows here!
