I know this is kinda underrated but I wish "Voltes V: Legacy" is here on this list. Based on a 1977 mecha anime "Chōdenji Machine Voltes V" (released BEFORE Voltron was a thing). It should be on this list, and this is the same YT channel that didn't have a single Super Sentai, Kamen Rider and UltraMan list. Only Power Rangers, and it sickens me.
Alita desperately needs a sequel!! I love the Alita movie and have watched it several times . I think it should have been higher but it did cram multiple story arcs into one movie. They did it very well though so someone without much knowledge of the source material wouldn’t notice. For instance, I didn’t like that Jashugan, the top motorballer who is so good that he competes 3 on 1 with his dominant arm removed just so he’ll have a challenge, was only briefly shown in the live action version. Motorball was an entire arc in the manga. I was hoping the Kenshin movies would be in here but was pleasantly surprised that they were at the top.
Though I agree with you, it will probably never happen. The first movie was expensive to make and didn't make any money at the box office because of haters who review bombed it despite not even watching it. The review bombing worked because it made casual movie audiences not want to see what it was about, pretty much ending any real chances of a sequel. Worst part is that those same haters who left the fake reviews and negative ratings would eventually get curious when it made it's way to streaming and realized it was actually good. The same people who screamed the loudest for people not to watch it, eventually started screaming for a sequel but now it is too late. Who knows though, with the success of One Piece live action, maybe we'll one day get an Alita series as well?
@@jfmdevil6239 @blaze8308 I really hope they do a sequel. Robert Rodriguez, Rosa Salazar, and Christoph Walz all said they are still willing to come back for one.
True, but the issue with those movies is that they were only released in Japan. You really have to go out of your way to see them here in the West, and many RK fans still don't know that they exist. Even the site I found to watch the first three movies doesn't exist anymore, so I'll need to find a new one once I eventually get around to watching the last two.

Bleach, Rurouni Kenshin, Alita:Battle Angel and Speed Racer are my favorite live action anime adaptations. They really stay true to the original source material.
I saw the live action Speed Racer movie the other day and I honestly think that it deserves to be here Sure, it isn't perfect, it has a some problems 1. Underdeveloped story that would've worked better as a high budget TV series 2. The big cliffhanger at the end 3. Hana Yori Dango has many adaptation Including Taiwanese version, Korean,China and Thai version. The Taiwanese version was the earliest adaption outside Japan and that was a big hit in East Asia catapulting the Boy Band, F4, to stardom
Rurouni Kenshin also has the best sountrack and the best OVA, Trust and Betrayal. It's adapted as the 5th LA, Rurouni Kenshin: The Beginning. It's almost frame to frame with only little change.
Yeah but a few people out there still think Alita looks uncanny because of the large eyes, and director Robert Rodriguez has made a couple of Spy Kids movies and Sharkboy and Lavagirl.
The Characters in Alice in Borderland has Japanese sounding name of the original Alice in Wonderland characters. Arisu = Alice, Chishiya = Chesire, Usagi = Rabbit, Hatter = Mad Hatter, etc..
As somebody who has both read the manga and watched the anime for One Piece, Rurouni Kenshin, and Alita Battle Angel and seen the anime for Bleach and Gintama I find myself surprisingly qualified to give my opinion on this topic. While I have not seen every live action anime adaptation nor will I ever do so, I can say that Alita Battle Angel is easily the best live action version I've come across. First of all, it pretty much objectively has the best production quality by a landslide. Look at Grewishka compared to Arlong and the CGI MAIN CHARACTER herself compared to a non-existent Hachi. Iron city and the motorball court are next tier as well. The Baratie in One Piece is legitimately extremely impressive and they didn't even use CGI, but that is easily the best One Piece set. Everyone knows they HAVE to embrace CGI if they are going to pull off something like Whole Cake Island for example and probably even Chopper for that matter. But honestly, I talk about this first because it is actually the least important I would say. It is worth noting that both the Alita Battle Angel anime and manga were already very different, and in the live action they actually take the best story elements from BOTH while succeeding in making straight up improvements overall with their own changes at the same time. Like Alita's signature markings under the eye coming from the blood of her dog friend out of the anime as opposed to just some random oil in the manga. It has motorball unlike the anime and does a much better job of building up to her championships there while actually providing a significant high stakes reason for it to exist in the first place. The live action also exclusively shows us where her ultimate Berserker body came from. It provides a very interesting scene of her retrieving it from the wreckage of an old starship as opposed to Ido just pulling it out of his ass from the manga. On top of all of this the movies include a number of scenes involving Alita's backstory from the sequel manga that was definitely not planned and foreshadowed from the beginning like in the movie. Finally, it very much improves Hugo's character significantly. The guy is incredibly bland as well as helpless in both the anime and manga, while it succeeds in making him more interesting and capable in the live action. I remember when Alita live action came out a lot of people were comparing it to stuff like Captain Marvel and shrugging it off as another Hollywood movie to assert female dominance and male uselessness, but people don't realize that the movie actually made significant steps to lessen that feeling from the source material in the case of especially Hugo, but also Ido to some extent as well. In the case of One Piece it is basically just good because One Piece is good and it doesn't totally screw it up too royally. Oda himself has spoken out about how stupid it is that they made Nojiko and the other villagers unaware of Nami's intentions and motivations. That was a rather jarring and nonsensical change. Syrup village was way too dragged out and didn't even show us Kuro's crew beyond those two useless lackies. A crew might be something important for a pirate CAPTAIN to have. This might be a reasonable change if they were racing through that content, but it was quite the opposite. Lastly Rurouni Kenshin, honestly it has been a long while since I've seen the live action, but I remember it being rather underwhelming and somewhat boring actually. Perhaps it could have adopted a stance similar to One Piece and Alita by trying to retain the over-the-top nature of anime with Kenshin's Hiten Mitsurugi sword style, but I realize it was a low budget Japanese movie. It gets points for adapting things left out of the anime, but I definitely don't remember any story/character improvements over the manga like with Alita. Having not seen Onizuka live-action I think it's pretty obvious that adapting Alita is an infinitely more impressive feat from a production standpoint, but that's all I can really get away with saying there.
No offense, i know many of you love the "boys over flowers 2005 Japanese version." But my personal opinion i think meteor garden 2001 Taiwan version is the best live action of Hana yori danggo. It became popular than the og anime, live action 90s version & Japanese 2005. Because of the popularity demand, many people enjoy the series & it had a season 2, including spin-off story about the other members of f4 tittle meteor rain. But i also love the 2005 Japanese version including the movie sequel of this. I love shun oguri performance he nailed the main 2nd male protagonist. His charming looks & great acting gives a nostalgia from the series.
I've seen a lot of the LA adaptations and I just appreciate them being made whether good or bad. There's no way to be sure what works until they try. That's why I always save opinions till after I've watched them instead of instantly dismissing a show.
Kenshin is great, and speaking of which, I'd like to see a Samurai Champloo live action adaptation. It's also heavy with the samurai/sword fighting and I think Mugen's break dancing style of sword fighting would transfer nicely to live action.
Now these do look like they did a good job at bringing them to real life & I had heard positive things about them so I will check them out, but the only ones I have seen so far are One Piece (which I love) & a Gintama movie
Bruh, why didn't you include Voltes V????? We, Philippines, also have that Live Anime Adaptation (Voltes V: Legacy) Such incomplete gathering of information you guys 🥺🥺😤😤😡😡
@@krex44 then try to watch it then... No matter how old that anime is, and same goes to its live action anime adaptation All you're loving is contemporary animes. Why not try the oldest ones?
Let’s face it. It takes a LOT to make a Live-Action variation just as good as the original source material, and THESE, MY FRIENDS, are the actual proof of that matter here!
Toriyama must be salty that Dragon Ball live action adaptation is a joke because Hollywood refused to accept his offer of wanting to help develop it. And now One Piece live action succeeded because Oda made sure it stays true to the source material.
Do you research. They were not true to the source material and that's fact. Even Oda has come out and said he isn't happy with the Live Action cause of the changes they made.

My top 12 would have been: 12. Death Note: L-Change The World 11. Gantz (2010) 10. Alita: Battle Angel 9. Death Note: The Last Name 8. Rurouni Kenshin: The Beginning 7. Death Note (2006) 6. Guyver 2: Dark Hero 5. Rurouni Kenshin: The Final 4. Rurouni Kenshin: Kyoto Inferno 3. Rurouni Kenshin: legend Ends 2. Rurouni Kenshin: Origins 1. Speed Racer
Most of the times, reason why a live action adaptation of anime/manga is good is cause it keeps close to the source material and not changing characters. Only exception to this rule is Avatar movie, despite sticking to the plot, movie was bad due to poor acting and ridding the movie from everything that made the original ATLAB funny

Edge of Tomorrow was left out but you almost did an All Kill. You hit the right number 1.
Kaiji deserves to be here it doesn’t get talked about much
After The Rain live action is absolutely phenomenal
I feel it, and the anime are criminally overlooked
Alita Battle Angel should have been higher
Willem Dafoe is the only good thing about the Netflix adaptation of Death Note, he is really the only reason to watch it.

Rurouni Kenshin live action had some good ass choreography
no Voltes V Legacy on their lists
The sword fight sequences in Rurouni Kenshin live action were FANTASTIC
I like Ghost In The Shell & Speed Racer Movies
Thank god. Rurouni Kenshin deserves all the accolades
I've seen a lot of the LA adaptations and I just appreciate them being made whether good or bad. There's no way to be sure what works until they try. That's why I always save opinions till after I've watched them instead of instantly dismissing a show.
Rurouni Kenshin was so good! I also really enjoyed the ERASED live action
Kenshin & One Piece 🙌🏼
The first (JP) Boys Over Flower was in 1995. But what had an impact on my mother was the classical hit, Meteor Garden (Chinese, 2001)
Kenshin is great, and speaking of which, I'd like to see a Samurai Champloo live action adaptation. It's also heavy with the samurai/sword fighting and I think Mugen's break dancing style of sword fighting would transfer nicely to live action.
Count me in
Do video game adaptation next. Because the new Twisted Metal is awesome
20th Century Boys not being on here is criminal.
Now these do look like they did a good job at bringing them to real life & I had heard positive things about them so I will check them out, but the only ones I have seen so far are One Piece (which I love) & a Gintama movie
Rorouni Kenshin is the greatest
Ruroni Kenshin series was awesome! As a fan of the manga, they did an amazing job on the live action version. Brought me back to my teenage years
A list of the best anime adaptations without:
-Crying Freeman (1995)
-The french adaptation of City hunter (Nicky Larson)
is a bad list
What I love about the Japanese la of Death Note is for the English dub, they got the same VA from the anime dubbing to reprise their roles.
Mackenyu be killin it😂
Bruh, why didn't you include Voltes V?????
We, Philippines, also have that Live Anime Adaptation (Voltes V: Legacy)
Such incomplete gathering of information you guys 🥺🥺😤😤😡😡
Uhh maybe because it's not that popular outside the Philippines?
@@krex44 then try to watch it then...
No matter how old that anime is, and same goes to its live action anime adaptation
All you're loving is contemporary animes. Why not try the oldest ones?
I’ll have to agree with the one piece live adaptation. I was skeptical because of cowboy bebop adaptation attempt
Let’s face it. It takes a LOT to make a Live-Action variation just as good as the original source material, and THESE, MY FRIENDS, are the actual proof of that matter here!
Also Casshern was hell of a good job, i love that movie
Toriyama must be salty that Dragon Ball live action adaptation is a joke because Hollywood refused to accept his offer of wanting to help develop it.
And now One Piece live action succeeded because Oda made sure it stays true to the source material.
Do you research. They were not true to the source material and that's fact. Even Oda has come out and said he isn't happy with the Live Action cause of the changes they made.
a lot of people say One Piece broke the curse whether Netflix or not, Alice in Borderland and some other preceded it
Imagine a live action Beastars
Could be really hard and expensive. Besides, we should avoid it looking like another version of the Lion King live action.
I kind of liked the JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Diamond is Unbreakable movie and the Bunny Drop movie. They were well done.
JoJo's Bizarre Adventure had overly bad CGI, that's why this movie failed.
Speed racer and one piece are Kings on this!🎉🎉🎉🎉❤❤❤❤
Alitta battle Angel isn’t half bad either
For Hollywood/ western adaptations, sure.
Love your spam
The second I saw the thumbnail I knew to disregard this list

My top 12 would have been:
12. Death Note: L-Change The World
11. Gantz (2010)
10. Alita: Battle Angel
9. Death Note: The Last Name
8. Rurouni Kenshin: The Beginning
7. Death Note (2006)
6. Guyver 2: Dark Hero
5. Rurouni Kenshin: The Final
4. Rurouni Kenshin: Kyoto Inferno
3. Rurouni Kenshin: legend Ends
2. Rurouni Kenshin: Origins
1. Speed Racer
These movies and shows prove that live action anime adaptions can be good if they’re done right
Gokusen always gettting left out. It's good as well
Someday I would love to see a live action inuyasha and soul eater movie/show
JUSTICE FOR ALITA BATTLE ANGEL
What did he say before that guy kicked his head right off his body???
Come On !!
Alita: Battle Angel is worthy of at least top 5. Well, can't change the list now. Better luck next time.
Crows Zero is still my favourite anime live adaptation reminds me of my College days ORAAA 🔥🔥 😂😂
You've missed Chihayafuru
