Western seems like a very welcoming community with a balanced atmosphere. Thanks again milkman, it's really opening my eyes about where I really want to go. I owe you one.
Visit the campus before hand to figure out where your classes will be ESPECIALLY for big campuses like Western. Also, as soon as you get your syllabus, write all the important test and due dates in your phone or whatever will help you remember. They are a lot less forgiving about missed assignments in university than they are in high school. Finally, you’re paying to be there so take advantage of all the stuff that comes included with tuition!
@@emeninerita4604 I’m honestly not sure of the prices of other universities. It is more expensive than college though. I would look up some different universities and compare the prices.
@@justvocals4652 does she go to western? lol. I live in this area....every day it looks like everyone is otw to the gym... Not an expensive ass school.
Something that you might not know going in is that Western is HUGE, the campus is massive, there's a ton of people and the class sizes can be very large especially in early years and popular programs. It can be daunting at first and you may not get a lot of face time with your profs unless you seek it out. That being said, stick with it. It absolutely gets better in upper years and there are some awesome colleges on campus that offer some really good programs, smaller class sizes and a more intimate student experience. You still graduate with a Western degree and there's really no difference in your education, but if you're someone that needs more face time with profs, smaller class sizes and less hustle and bustle around them, then it's a fantastic option. They even offer select courses that count towards main campus modules if you're not sure its for you, but want to try it out.
Rose Sakhi I wouldn’t say it’s that noticeable of a difference. In Toronto, you’ll be compelled to go out (or have to commute), which takes a lot longer than Western, where most students just venture to the bar in a small town. Western is 1120 acres, and I now go to one that’s 1665 acres with twice the amount of students. It could be a lot worse.
I mean, I wouldn't say it's a horror story. But you don't need to wash raw chicken. It's about the raw meat's bacteria cultures that will coat your sink. When you go to wash your dishes in a sink with raw meat bacteria there is a chance you could transmit salmonella and get food poisoning.
Would you ever be willing to do every Canadian University and College for this series? I'm finding this very helpful for student life at each university, so thank you.
Western alum here. I'm obviously biased, but imo it's the best all-around educational institution in Canada. Just remember to work HARDER than you play at Western and you will be fine, as there are a plethora of fun things to do that have unfortunately caused many ppl (over decades of generations) to flunk out, develop addictions, or simply lose sight of the fact that you're at university to prepare you for the job market. Everything in moderation. Best of luck
I like how students here aren't jerks like "duuuddeee we party all night man who gives a fuck about attending classes" but they actually encourage you to study.
I don’t get the stereotype that Uni profs dgaf about you and how that’s such a huge jump from highschool, My teachers in highschool r a bunch of bucktees and dgaf about you
Htg, but I can't lie there's that one teacher that actually cares about u like you're their own yute. Probably the only reason I care about going to uni now.
To the guy in the OVO hoodie with a backwards hat: I really need a fake and you look just like me. If anyone knows him and sees this HELP ME OUT and REPLY
Everyone knows that Waterloo’s CS program is the best in Canada but the atmosphere is not the greatest. McMaster has a way better atmosphere for sure and a lot more help, but isn’t the “best”. Honestly it’s up to preference
Thanks dude! But after uoft waterloo and ubc I think mc master is the best option isnt it? Coz i wont prefer mc gill due to french. So its either SFU or MAC
While it's true that Western's party scene is legendary over every other Canadian university (goes back over 50 years at least), those who party aggressively actually only represent a small fraction of the student body. Further, even observing the party "crowd" doesn't mean many of those kids are failing out - for e.g., on many occasions I'd see the bar stars who lit up the town on the night before in the library, bright and early the next morning, putting in hours and hours into their studies. Not to mention that when you graduate, corporate Toronto (law firms, banking, big pharma and the restaurants and entertainment venues around them) is overflowing with Western alum who always look out for their own whenever possible. If you plan on living and working in Toronto after graduating, a Western degree (with good grades of course) will open doors that most people don't know exist.
