Before all this talk about the best jab in the ufc as well, I think Eddie had one of the nicest jabs that he continues to improve on so that those wild hooks and uppercuts still get the job done. Nobody talks about it since in a southpaw vs orthodox matchup (Conor vs Eddie), it semi-neutralizes the lead hand of both men, and Conor by a long shot has the better cross. If Conor was an orthodox fighter I think eddie would have given a much better account of himself that night. Maybe not won, but shown up better

Loss to Cowboy who was on a run then and I believe fought for the title soon after or just before that. Controversial decision to Gilbert Melendez who at the time was a beast. Beat Pettis turns around a beats RDA who a lot of people thought was untouchable at that point in time. Tough loss to McGregor, should have been a DQ against DP. Proceeds to have an all out bloodbath against Justin Gaethje and then a tough loss to Porier that was relatively competitive until he got stopped. If you look at Alvarez's track record, besides ONE Championship, he won a belt in every promotion he fought for and was fighting the best guys that the promotion could offer. He was incredibly competitive with near everyone he fought too. Even now a record of 30 wins and 8 losses really is not that bad when you consider he fought from 2003 until 2021 in MMA. I will always say he is one of the better lightweights to ever do it because everywhere he went, he was in the conversation as one of the top guys.
