Robert and the team can be very proud of the huge amount of knowledge you have shared with so many people over the last 10 years. You inspire us to do more to make the world a cleaner greener place. Since I began watching your channel, I've installed rooftop solar and my next car will be an EV. I'm looking forward to future episodes and all the important information that your channel will share. Thank you.

Nicely cobbled together Robert. All the bother about Green Number plates ! Had um for ever here in Québec and nobody blinks and eye. The ICE vehicles have blue letters and white background, the EV's, green letters and white background. It's especially handy where there is free parking for EV's and no charge on car ferries etc.

Robert, if you get an induction hob (frameless is best I think as the frames can rust from steam & any pots boiling over), you won't regret it. My landlord installed a stove with one (think his missus wanted a wall mounted jobby to counteract her arthritis & just happened to coincide with my needing a new stove) & I'd NEVER EVER want to go back to anything else. Super efficient, super quick to heat up & cool down, super easy to clean - just buy some Hob Brite & wipe down with damp cloth, use ceramic/induction hob specific scraper for occasional tricky to get of stuff. Absolutely wonderful.

Never looked back! iOn has now been joined by a 7-seater NIssan ENV200, plus solar and a Zappi. Oh, and an e-bike and an e-trike (I fall off bikes). Next step will be battery storage. Then we'll think about heating .... Then maybe wind power .......... I want our grandchildren to be proud of us.

Started watching this on Twitter. Absolutely hilarious but not because we could all laugh at you Robert, merely with you (commiserations). It's so good to know that we're not the only ones who 'accidently press' the wrong technology button and remain bamboozled for ages as to why we can't get the damn thing to work; except we can swear profusely & threaten to throw the said piece of technology at the wall or complain to Amazon or Argos about wanting a refund because it's 'their' fault that the product 'doesn't' work! 🤪🤣
    Congratulations 🎉 👏👌

When you speak to Toyota ask them how they have not been taken to task about their latest claim - 'Experience the power of Hybrid Electric. 54% Travel time in electric mode'. Seriously!!! They say that during test drives 54% of the journey is completed in electric mode. I am sure they have improved but my four year old RAV 4 it could manage 2 miles on battery power. So that means their test drive has to be around four miles. However, the petrol engine must be run in between test drives to recharge the battery. Would have been much quicker if they plugged it in!

Might not get a reply to this being so late. "But Robert" a few years back I remember you saying you had done a poll on what viewers preffered to see, you said the result was more or less 50-50 EVs and Renewable technologys. Since then I'd hazard a guess 85% of FC shows have been about EV's. Since we are now 10 years in, can you now go back and look at how the UK has moved on in terms of grid diversity and the state of green manufacturing in the UK? How well have we done since those early episodes on companys like britwind and what they are doing in the orkneys? How much storage does National Grid have and how much more is coming? Giga Factorys in the UK, Tesla enetering the energy market, what does all this mean for actual grid hardware and future job transistions? Thanks for all the hard work from you and the Fully Charged Team.

Solar panels, home battery or EV? - question in live stream:
    * Solar panels will reduce your electricity bill by around £120 pa and pay you around £600 for generated electricity. So financially this takes around 10 years to pay for itself.
    * An electric car costs around 1.5p per mile in fuel, if solar panels this becomes 0p per mile, as a good car charger can be set to only charge using solar. Difference of capital cost of BEV battery is offset by fuel savings, how long this takes depends on your annual mileage.
    * Home battery cost more than £10k to install with the only savings being your electricity bill, consider this later.
    * I also heat hot water using the electric emersion heater in my hot water tank, this has a control on it that only heats water from solar PV.

Robert, you and your fellow presenters are inspiring; keep up the good work. A question for you and the team with potentially huge implications. Why can’t my Tesla EV be my Powerwall? I can charge from Solar, I can charge from cheap night tariffs, but why should I need a 14kWh Powerwall when I have a 100kWh battery sitting in the garage? It’s nuts!

Great show as always, I am trying my hardest to convince people that electric cars are going to be here in Australia in a big way and get different responses all the time . I have twin 5kw solar systems and a LG battery that makes me look forward to getting power bills. Your comment about insulation was great I'm slowly changing my windows to double glazing and installing a new car port with solar to charge my cybertruck when it arrives. Meanwhile I am awaiting the LDV MAXUS EV to get to Australia. Thanks . Wayne

On H2 fuel cells, have you covered the CSIRO (Australian science group) development of an efficient and fast catalysed ammonia cracker? Shipping H2 as ammonia doesn't need to be cryogenic, and carries more H2 for the volume than liquid H2 does because of its density. So, safe(ish) and high capacity shipping and local reforming to H2 for cars.

Looking forward to your Electric scooter episode. We have hire e-scooters where I live in Germany from a firm called Tier. They are all connected to the internet so you just need to download the AP, give your payment details and off you go. The Ap puts the available scooters on a google map and how much charge each one has, also the area where you can use them. You start them by scanning a QR code on your phone then following the instructions. They travel at up to 22kph but where the speed limit is below that they automatically limit their speed to whatever that is. When you are finished with them you can just leave them at the side of the street at your destination. The good things about them is they are convenient and there are plenty of them around. They also make up for the terrible bus service here. The downside is the price €1 then 19 cents per minute of use. The breaks are a bit tricky when going down hill also.

I'd say that the Sono Motors concept of solar-powered vehicles is perhaps targeted at the wrong type of vehicle.
Because I was looking at some large delivery vans and mini-buses the other day, and considering that, you know, there's possibly a good 8 metres squared of roof space on top there for solar.
Like 8 metres squared of solar panels ain't that much shy of what some folks have on their small terraced houses. It's not an insignificant amount of roof space going spare up there on top of these big vans, mini-buses and RVs (as the Americans like to call them).
Granted, it's flat roof space and a solar panel laid down flat ain't as productive as one that's angled towards the Sun - but, as you say, the Sono Motors concept is not really that you're powering the vehicle solely from the solar, but rather the idea that when you've got it parked up on a sunny day, there's a trickle of electricity going back into the batteries.
Or, particularly with RVs, which seems the most obvious vehicle for a solar roof, because it's basically a mobile home and why not have solar on the roof of your mobile home, just as you might have on your not-mobile home? In that case, you could see the solar as not really being about powering the vehicle - though if it's a sunny day and you're parked up for a while, it could certainly help with that - but about powering the "mod cons" on board your RV / caravan / mobile home (and if there's any excess beyond that then it can, indeed, go towards generating some extra miles of range too).
In the same way that it makes sense for delivery vans to be electric - as they do lots of starting and stopping - I think it also makes sense - though perhaps not so obviously so - to have solar on the roofs of these vans. Because a van has quite a lot of roof space, typically. And, like, as the van is parked up, so that it can unload its cargo, the solar can be popping a few more metres into the battery, which if you're doing a lot of stops along a street of houses, might be all you need to go from one home to the next.
And, from a business perspective, there's the idea that a solar van can never get stuck anywhere. If it were to run out of battery in the middle of nowhere - though, yes, it would take a careless driver for that to ever happen - then wait a few hours to build up enough range from the solar to "limp" to the nearest charger.
No, you can't run a vehicle entirely from solar on the roof, but the argument is much the same as with solar at home - what else is all that roof space doing anyway? You might as well get some solar up there, as it's not exactly doing anything else, beyond keeping the rain off your head. And on a van or a truck or a bus, no-one can even see the roof, typically.
I hope that the Sono Motors concept becomes just a standard thing on any and every electric. That there's just always a layer of thin film solar on the roof, because why not?
This could alleviate people's "range anxiety" that, actually, no electric can get permanently stuck anywhere. That, with solar, it can always "limp" along to the nearest charger. Clearly, not ideal - but then you should have made sure not to let the battery go completely flat in the first place - but just that underlying reassurance that if you did ever get stuck in the middle of nowhere, wait a few hours in the sunshine and maybe get back a mile or two of "limp range" to reach somewhere more useful.
