    Ladies and gentlemen,
We gather here today to celebrate the life and legacy of a man who needs no introduction, a man whose music and spirit have touched the lives of countless individuals around the world. We come together to bid farewell to the one and only Jimmy Buffett.
Jimmy was more than just a musician; he was a storyteller, a troubadour, and a true embodiment of the laid-back, carefree island lifestyle that he so eloquently sang about in his songs. He brought us tales of margaritas, cheeseburgers in paradise, and endless summers, transporting us to a world where worries faded away with each strum of his guitar.
Born on December 25, 1946, in Pascagoula, Mississippi, Jimmy's journey began in a small coastal town, but his dreams were as vast as the ocean. He started as a struggling musician, playing in bars and cafes, but he had a vision, a vision of creating music that would make us smile, dance, and forget about our troubles. And boy, did he succeed.
Jimmy's music wasn't just about the catchy tunes; it was about the philosophy of life that he shared with all of us. He taught us to embrace the simple pleasures, to savor the moments, and to live life to the fullest. He reminded us that it's not about the destination; it's about the journey, the people we meet along the way, and the stories we create.
As we say goodbye to Jimmy today, let's not dwell on the sadness of his passing but rather celebrate the incredible impact he had on our lives. His songs became the soundtrack of our summers, and his concerts were like family reunions where we danced, laughed, and sang along with thousands of fellow Parrotheads.
Jimmy Buffett was more than a musician; he was a philanthropist, an environmentalist, and a man who used his fame to make the world a better place. His passion for preserving the natural beauty of our planet and his dedication to charitable causes will continue to inspire us for generations to come.
In his own words, "It's those changes in latitudes, changes in attitudes, nothing remains quite the same. With all of our running and all of our cunning, if we couldn't laugh, we would all go insane." Let us remember Jimmy not with tears, but with laughter and gratitude for the joy he brought into our lives.
As we bid farewell to this legendary son of the sea, let's raise a margarita in his honor, and let the music play on. Jimmy, your legacy will live on in the hearts of Parrotheads everywhere, and we'll continue to live life to the fullest, just as you taught us.
Fins up, Jimmy Buffett, and may you forever sail on those endless seas of paradise. You will be dearly missed, but your spirit will always be with us. Thank you for the music, the memories, and the endless summer days.
    Rest in peace, Captain Jimmy.

He was an original. I met him once, no pretensions whatsoever, a salt of the earth fella. A really nice guy, easy to be with. Jimmy`s unique Yacht Rock rules for all us yachties. Sailors love his music because the lyrics of each tell a story so when sailing they keep you company. RIP Jimmy Buffet, your music lives on forever. I`ll have one for you today sailing along playing Come Monday, my favourite.

Jimmy's greatest performance for me was in portland oregon at the coliseum back in the 80s. Somehow I scored a front row center aisle seat. The entire front row had a kick line going! A girl saw me in that prime seat and came running down from some higher seat and lands on my lap and wraps her arms around me. I was totally surprised, but absolutely rolled with it.... until security dragged her away. In the lights Jimmy could only see a couple of the first rows. He watched all this happen. After I lost "my girl", I looked up to see him laughing. He holds his hands up and shrugs. I laugh and do the same since this is just what happens in Margaritaville ! What a classic Buffett moment in life! I only wish I knew I would start this business, because I know Jimmy would have loved to live on one of the habitats I create. oh well, maybe one day when we are both over that horizon. Thank you Jimmy for all the years, all the smiles. Peace and joy to your spirit. Oh , if you are that girl reading this, stop on by. I know we will have a laugh or three!

I remember hearing him sing on Q102 out of Dallas, Texas. I never though I'd get to see one of his shows.
I was working at Billy Bob's Texas as a security guard/bouncer. He put on a great show. There were a whole lot of drunks, but I don't recall having to fight when he rolled threw. Just a lot of happy drunks. For me I just don't remember feeling on edge like I would when other acts would come to town.
Come to think of it, I do believe during one of his shows I had a patron ask me to dance with her while I worked my gate. It was that chill. This would be about 1983.

I did dance, but I don't remember which song. That was over 40 years ago.
There would be shows that you knew going to be a cluster muck. And others that would be like a night out.
It wasn't the performer that made it enjoyable or not for us employees. It was the mentality of the crowd that came to see the acts.

My most memorable Jimmy Buffett moment? When I received a fan letter from him. Back in 1992 after he'd completed his first book, he came to NYC to do an un-publicized book signing. I found out about it by doing some digging. I went to the signing with a letter I'd written for him. 2 weeks later I got a letter from him - the first sentence was "If I wrote letters like you do, I might consider becoming a writer." He went on for 7 paragraphs and invited me to meet him at a club in NYC where he was promoting a band - The Iguanas. My wife and I met him there and hung out. We shared a beer, talked about music and my letter and he offered me the opportunity to edit The Coconut Telegraph. He was amazingly nice and incredibly gracious.
    Thanks again for everything Jimmy.
