I got the m40x because of the more flat response, Metal and rock music sound great on it. It isn't lacking in bass either so it does good job at hip hop/rap music as well
I Feel like your channel deserves a lot more attention. This popped up in my recommended section, as i was looking extensively at the M40x, and this is definitely one of the best reviews of them i've seen. You deserve more subscribers. Keep up the good work!
Thank you so much for your support Cary! I really appreciate it! Hope you like your headphone when you get it, these are all great option and have very impressive sound. Please let me know if you have any questions and I will help you out. Thanks again!
Hey, so on the top right, I labeled which section I am covering so you could always fast forward till you find let's say sound on the top right corner. Thanks for watching!
My whole life I've happily had Sennheiser headphones, I got the Sennheiser HD 518, same story. If you go to the gym and you wanna listen to high music, these Sennheiser aren't for you, unless you wish people listen to your music. They were not thought for mobiles, they work great for PC.
Just learn their sound then all good, it really doesn't matter what EQ comes from factory if you understand its sound (otherwise use sonarworks). If you make music always check the music with speakers. Edit: I make music with my dt990's, after 5 years i no longer use sonarworks, i kind of know or what to expect from them (of course i use speakers too).
You can use the AT cable with the Sennheiser's and vice versa. Don't understand why he didn't even try that. Both M50/40 are very uncomfortable. For listening to music ( except in airplanes and very noisy places) Sennheisers are far better when it comes to vocals. I have all of them ( 598 not the 558)
Watched this video to make my decision on getting m50x. So far I have been happy with my selection and I thank you for taking away my choice anxiety :)
One thing that annoys me in studio headphones is the noise that comes from articulations... this can be captured when recording vocals. What do you think about articulations from ATH phones?
I modded the locking mechanism on my M40s by removing the little nubs. Initially I'd removed the locking part altogether but felt that without it the socket was a exposed and weakened.
If you are planning to get a pair of "expensive" headphones. You might wanna visit a shop that offers demo tryouts instead of reading or watching tube, reviews do give some rough ideas but you will be surprised how listening to an actual demo product will help a long way. Btw, my first audiophile headphone was a sennheiser & to be honest it doesn't live up to the hype and totally regretted it, sounded almost identical to my gaming headphone lol I just couldnt tell the difference despite the sennheiser costing way more expensive. Hence, why one should not succumb to hype but to test it out.
Well the problem is that you don't get senheisers or anything that is considered "amazing" without having a lot of experience with listening in general. Those headphones aren't made for fun, they're made to easily discern every different sound added into music. If you get those headphones, you expect detail, not a particularly noticeable difference in sound signature. In addition, you don't expect a godly experience out of 60-70$ headphones, unless they have some amazing reviews or are simply legendary, like the akg k240.
I have a 16 yrs old male pet elephant who loves classical musics so much. Which headphone would you recommend for him? Oh, he also likes to play FPS on sundays
I own the M50x and a pair of Sennheiser HD598 (yes, different from the 558). Both have good bass response, but the Sennheisers have a great bass punch. Thanks for your review.
The HD558's aren't designed for portable use. So you wouldn't really plug them into your phone or portable audio device anyway. They're also completely open back, so sound would just leak in and out. They don't really fit the same category as the Audio Technica's.
Thank you so much Krishna! Comments like yours really means a lot to me and I'm really happy to hear my video was helpful! I hope you like the headphone if you decide to get one of these!
If you want to listen to casual music and game get the M40x. If you want to game and listen to music get the M50x. Yeah this video doesn't help at all lol.
@@davidstancu2963 i bought the M50x and the Beyerdynamic DT770 because i couldnt decide but did not like the M50X at all in comparision besides for the volume. I feel like the DT770 couldve been a bit kouder at full volume (32 ohm version)
@@davidstancu2963 I was thinking the same when i watched reviews, but i still bought m50x and the bass is not muddy at all, it just has a little boost but overall they are still relatively flat and neutral, m40x is probably a bit flater, but it lacks a bit in sub-bass.. Both are great for monitoring but I think m50x is better than m40x for just casual listening and gaming
@@suveerbhatia7 If you want a lot of bass, then studio monitors are probably not for you.. m40x are relatively flat headphones, so they have just enough bass as they should.. you have probably listened to some bassy headphones before, so to you it seems m40x lacks in bass..
Thank you so much for watching my video and supporting the channel! Comments like yours truly means a lot to me and very happy to hear that my video was helpful! If you ever have any questions or need help, please let me know!
I found that the M50x does have a mid bass hump but not much of a soundstage, at least the pair I bought. If you are looking for airy soundstage with good positioning for gaming it's not the one for you. Haven't tried the other two I returned the M50x and bought the HD598 a much better can in my opinion.
I had the HD598s (open-back version. I couldn't stand the closed-back version even for a minute) for some time, but then gave them to my girlfriend. Although comfortable and pretty ok to listen to, I found their midrange to be recessed to a degree, and overall sound slightly veiled (although still cavernous-sounding, b/c of the full circumaural size). Also, their bass, while present, fell off steeply in the lowest ranges, so it often seemed like something was missing. If you use the 598 for gaming, it's no surprise to me that they're good for positioning in gaming. I was hoping someone would say the M40 or M50s are better than the 598, but here we are. :/ (I was going to buy a pair, but now i'm not so sure)
Absolutly! Otherwise, you can look for the DT 770: they're cheaper, wide sound stage and more clarity. If you plan on carrying them around/ on the go, then go with the M40X or M50X
So im decidimg between m40x with replacement pads (brainwavs angled) or sennheiser 598CS wondering what your opinions are i do wear headlhones for long hours so comfort is important
I haven't tried to fidelio's but for the m40x and HD 598 are great options with a couple of differences. The m40x will sound a little more exciting with all types of music such as rap, rock, or edm whereas the HD 598 will provide better clarity in the vocals and instruments. The HD 598 however, are more comfortable where you can wear them for hours and hours with little to no discomfort. I hope this helps! If you have any other questions, please let me know.
hi everyone, I am adding this comment here to gather feedback and review on the audio technica ath m50x headphones. I have always used earphones and never headphones. I am planning to buy one but my small town does not have any store where i can go and try these. Even amazon deliveries take at least 4-5 weeks to deliver. Basically a countryside kind of place. So, it will take ages for the delivery and then return and reorder of a new one. Anyways, I read the reviews and they have been fantastic. I also watched several videos on youtube. But since everyone has a different definition of the words "good", "amazing", "fantastic", etc. I am not sure if i will like them equally or not. I am also not very much aware of technical terms like soundstage or sound colour, etc that people use to describe these headphones. Now the whole reason for writing this comment is just to enquire about the bass of these headphones. i want to know how good is the bass. To help you all guys answer the question so it is understandable to me, let me give some info about my likes and dislikes: 1. i really liked the earphones shipped with the age old sony ericsson walkman series phones like w550i. Their bass was what i liked and preferred to any other nokia earphone at that time. 2. I also liked the earphones that came with the sony ericsson p910i. 3. I liked the Sony MH EX300AP earphones that shipped with the sony xperia z smartphone from 2013. They are the best earphones I have listened to so far in terms of bass. The equalizer on the xperia Z made them sound even better. The bass was very nice and I was 100% satisfied with their bass. 4. I have used sennheiser hd 203 headphones too. They were the first headphones i ever listened too regularly. Actually a friend of mine and my flatmate/roommate few years back owned it and I used to borrow and listen on them. I really liked the bass on them too. I used them with my xperia z smartphone. Now that you all know what is my definition of good bass, I request you you all to provide me your valuable feedback and thoughts on how good the bass on m50x will be. I have no doubt about its clarity and other aspects of sound reproduction. Just gathering info on the bass. Thank you.
Don't know if you finaly got them, but I'll tell you that the M50X are consodered slightly bass heavy in therms of monitoring heaphones. Now if you compare that to Beats by Dre, the ATH-M50X has absolutly no bass. I've had them for 7 years now and I'd describe the bass as quite present and punchy. It is also possible to adjust the frequency response (even your phone's tool can do a difference in that regard) to boost or reduce the bass response. Overall, it's a really good pair of headphones!
TEll Me If Turned UP TO `100% VOLume can you feel the headphones shake with B>A>S>S can you really feel them good?? im generally gonna be using for music for the bass
So none of these are gonna produce that rumbling bass, the only one that has a little bass like that is the M50x but it's not a lot. For bass that shakes, I would say the Beats Studio Wireless would be the one because they have a great amount of bass. With the Beats, you will lose some clarity and detail but as far as these headphones that I reviewed, you might not be super impressed with the bass. Hope this helps! Please let me know if you have any other questions, thanks for watching!!
@@TrendingPendingVideos ? The crusher wireless are 80$ and they supposedly offer some pretty great sound, they're also very comfortable and though emphasizing bass, they still retain a level of clarity
Super helpful thank you so much for this, very informative (: I have never owned headphones in the more expensive range and i was looking to get the m50x , but after poking around it seems like the m40x will fit my use case better (and it's cheaper :D)
senheiser look comfortable as construction contrary to the audio technica which stuck against the top of my head no confort for me despite teh sound issue. no idea why they dont put more material on the top to make them more comfortable for the top of the head
I would say the m50x is like subwoofers in your ears as the m40x is the same the only difference is the frequency wouldn’t be a problem and the bass sounds the same. Tbh the battles of them two is stupid. If you’re a rainbow six siege player go for the m50x like hardcore if you’re just an average listener and just don’t care about frequency get the m40x. I believe the m50x gets warned out a lot by piercing ears and the way y’all’s volumes is on the m50x
I've got a heart attack when he tried to bend the headphones lmao. But anyways, very good review. Helped me decide which headphones to get for my studio
How much sound do the Sennheisers leak? I’m looking to buy them but I don’t want them to have a lot of leakage in the car ride because I play travel soccer.
@@teoaber7925 I choose the M50x ! No regret, using it for a couple of weeks already. (Nothing special about it actually : no boost, no bass) but the sound is crystal clear!

I bought this headphones yesterday and I film my reaction. I play the remastered versión of Drain You by Nirvana and I feel ALL, I started to cry inside myself after the first "One baby to another says I'm lucky to have met you..." I never Heard the music with something like this, I have not much money but this.. is the real best thing I ever bought in my pathetic life. I play the Live at Paramount video by Nirvana and I CAN DISTING WHAT PLATE DAVE HIT OMG! I have a problem in my life, I can't stop think much and when I hear music I'm distract myself really fast but this headphones spit in my ears and I can feel me inside the song. Now I'm listening Stone in Focus by Aphex Twin and literally crying tears of my eyes alone. This is really rare for me, the songs past in slowing time in my head, not fast in the real time in my head, awesome
@HATE No, I'm usually using the USB audio-mic connector of my old headphones for more comfort 'cause I use both connections often. I'm like 8 months with this m-40x and I'm still happy, pretty durable and stills sounding amazing

Hello, is there a difference between ATH-M50x & the BT version in terms of the sound quality? My primary use is for mixing and mastering but would also like to use it for listening to casual music on the phone and iPad.
I'm looking at these also. These AT"s have a 38 ohm rating. Iphones/Ipads/Laptops are rated at 32 Ohms or lower. So it would be close. Studio headphones usually have a larger frequency range and higher ohm rating so you need an amplifier to push the sound. I'm not advertising for any company but I'm looking at over ear HP's also and the V-Moda M-100 have a 32 ohm rating, sound close to these and are in the same price range. Iphones/tablets/laptops are up to 32 Ohms, PC's are up to 250, studio grade are 250-600 Ohms just to give you an idea.
Usually, BT music is transfered from your device to the heaphone in a different format that may alter the quality of the audio. Make sure to look at the compression format your device will cast the music in and compare it to the quality of the "normal" cable format. These days, technology goes really fast and there might be BT format that are as good/ better than regular cabled music. Hope it can help you!
Hey there! Sorry for the later response but thank you for watching! I'm glad to hear my video was helpful! All of these are definitely very impressive and it comes down to personal preference. I personally use the Sennheiser's for gaming and watching movies because they are extremely comfortable. For music, I prefer the Audio Technicas because the sound is more exciting for rap, rock, and edm whereas for classical music or songs with a lot of instruments and vocals, sound really nice on the sennheiser's. I really hope this helps and hope you are enjoying the headphone that you ended up buying!
Hey so if you like bass, then m50x in my opinion. After that, the questions comes to if you should get wired or Bluetooth. Hope this help! Let me know if you have any other questions!
I have the m40x I love this sound ♡ but the build quality sucks. .. the new m60x is later my new daily driver in studio and gaming ♡ I love this audio Technica sound this is really a big difference from normal headphones for 30 $ or m40x Exempel
when I bought M50x ,the fisrt thing that I think about is the earpad changing. After that find some upgrade cable such as pure copper . the result was good and better than the stock one.
Hey thanks buddy!! Nice explanations. Here i have an questions? In ATH brands, is it M50x is the best one? Here actually im looking for the best ever headphone for listening to music, making music and also watching movie Is it M50X is worth it ?
so m50x aren't the best these are beginner audiophile headphones if you want studio headphones go with the beyerdynamic dt990 pro (open back) or the Dt 770pro (closed back) but these will not be as portable and sleek because of bigger design . the beyerdynamics lack base like the m50x but that isnt needed for studio uses. beyerdynamics will have better soundstage , audio quality and comfort .
It all comes down to what type of sound do you prefer with your listening experience, more bass or more clarity. If you want more bass, I would go with the M50x. If you want more clarity, I would go with the HD 558 or HD 559 because it's the same thing, just the 2019 version or the M40x for clarity. The only thing I can say is that the Sennheiser is definitely the most comfortable out of all of them because of the material of the ear cups. I really hope this helps!
The cable on the m40x m50x and hd 558's use the same standard locking cable you can use the same cable on all 3 of them and if you have a headset with a locking cable it will probably use the same plug.
Does anyone really care about stylish and sleek when they are listening alone at home? Do they have lots of mirrors and judgemental visitors looking for fashion violations?
Why do people buy headphones with *screens* on the earcups ? I get your point but for many people design is a fatal point when buying (not only) headphones !
Design give you a sense of worth, that’s the thing, if you are gonna be spending an amount of money you are expecting something in return, even when the best choice is the ugliest most people will choose at least the point of balance between function and style, because style represents most of the time the quality of a product, if it is made with only plastic it might feel cheap and you’ll feel like it lacks quality is really simple tbh, but I get your point
@@contactolequotidien8492 Fancy wood ear cups look great, but the wood resonates and colors the sound. This can be a pleasant effect if you are not after accuracy. Plastic is more acoustically inert.
@@funkyskill1961 the glass isn't just for show. Tempered glass is less acoustically dense than plastic and thus makes a nice compromise between closed back and open back
Thanks for the clarification @@haydenpack6947 , but I was actually refering to headphones like the "Vinci Lite", which literally have touchscreens built into them, showing off animations and song info. And while that may help to improve the customers experience, it won't improve audio quality.
I bought the 40x from Guitar Center during a Christmas sale for $69.99. I’m very happy with it. I’m thinking about upgrading with the Dekoni Elite Sheepskin ear pads but at $50 they are a little expensive.
Yes, they would definitely be a great option. It also depends on what type of sound you are looking for because the M40x provides more clarity and details whereas the M50x provides a little more bass and a tad bit less clarity and detail compared to the M40x. It's not a huge difference because the M50x still does a great job producing clarity and details but the M40x has a slighter edge in that area whereas the M50x has a little edge when it comes to bass. Hope this helps! Please let me know if you have any other questions! Thanks for watching!
Nice review. Its not often to those three headphones being compared. I just wish Audio Technica made the headbands replaceable. It peels/wears out too quickly.

Could you address build quality on these headphones? Will all 3 last 10 years with heavy use? I would only use the headphones for podcasts or gaming, and not for music.
I would say that if you are just going to be using these casually for the podcast and music as you stated, you these would last for years and years. If you throw these on the ground or anything like that, then they might get a tad bit damaged but even then, I would say they will still hold up. I personally have had mine for a long time and they still look brand new. I hope this helps! Please let me know if you have any other questions!
I've got the M50x that I use pretty much daily. The outer coating of the head frame is peeling off, but I do have a greasy noggin. I also needed to replace the earpads after a few years. In terms of functionality though, they still sound as great as ever. Headphones are made from very high quality sturdy plastic and will last 5-10 years with reasonable care.
two months ago I bought M50x and in the first second I was disgusted by them because of the lot of bass they have and I returned them to the dealer immediately
Lol I agree, it's my go to headphones for watching TV and gaming because of the comfort but can't take them out of the house. For home use, they are amazing but the design is a little chunky. Thanks for watching my video!
The treble is nicely detailed with a decent amount of sparkle. Some people have suggested an element of sibilance, although I haven't detected this myself. I feel that the highs have strong presence, but never (or at least, very rarely) come across as overly bright or fatiguing. The mid-range presents itself well also. However, there's not much in the way of soundstage, it's more "in your face". But with more emphasis being placed on the lows and highs, the mid-range never sounds intrusive. Overall it's a solid no-nonsense set of headphones that will do the job in pretty much any situation.
Mad Mental Hibby thank you.... i finally bought these last week after watching several reviews. I could also see that the treble and mids are great too. Loving these headphones
Overall I like the M40X better then my M50X. Video games and movies sound better to me with M40X. I now have moved the M40X to the bedroom to watch movies mostly and the M50X are at the PC with my SHP9500.
I'm looking to get some advice. I listen to a wide variety of music from Slayer to Kaleo to Beethoven. I'm torn between the 40x and 50x. I've listened to the Bose quiet comfort headphones in store and that's as close to owning a high end pair of head phones as I've gotten.
Hey Tori! So it all depends on a few factors. First, how much bass do you usually prefer with your music? If you want rumbling bass while listing to Slayer, then these headphones are not really going to be impressive in that area. The M50x has the most bass, then the M40x and lastly the HD558. The bass on these though are really lean and for let's say rap rock might not be the best option. This is assuming you like rumbling bass to jam out to. But if you are not looking for a lot of bass just a pretty good amount, then the M50x would be the better option and it does well with vocals and instruments so listening to Beethoven would be nice. Now if you are looking for more clarity and details in your music and ok with a little bass, then the M40x and HD558 would be a great option. The sound on both of these are pretty similar and not too different. Both offer detailed mids and highs with great clarity. The M40x might be a better option if you will be using these on the go because of the design but it all depends on personal preference when it comes to design. The HD558 are a great pair of headphones at home while watching movies, TV shows, gaming, and music depending on what you listen to. The HD558 are definitely the most comfortable and you can easily wear them for hours and hours. I really hope all of this is helpful and if you have more questions, please let me know and I will be sure to help!
i hope i'm not too late, the M40x provides a higher soundstage, i'm a metal head i listen to Djent , metalcore, mostly :D, some Erra, Meshuggah, ABR.. bass sounds nice with the kick it has, but as he said in the video, anything with instruments in my view i'd go with M40x, you need that rich sound presence and clarity, leave M50 for EDM/techno music, and please don't add bass to the smooth Beethoven XD
Fuck I just bought some MH50x in offer, but now they tell me the MH40X are better and cheaper... but anyways, comming from a beats and a hyper x cloud II user they might blow my mind anyways
I'm glad to hear you are liking the headphones! So I do want to mention that as far as which headphones is better, it all depends on your personal preference because one is not better than the other in my opinion, they just produce different sound. The M40x has more clarity and details but the bass is very lean whereas the M50x has clarity and details, not as sharp as the M40x but instead the M50x has more of a tight punchy bass. So it all depends on what type of sound you prefer. Hope this is helpful and if you ever have any questions, please let me know and I will be sure to help! Thank you for watching!
I loved my M50X but I had to return them! And I ended up buying the Sennheiser HD58X from massdrop, they blow up my mind! and thanks for your answer, audio technica M50X very good cans indeed, but not what I was looking for, which was a headphone just to have on my room, to game with and watch entertainment stuff
Thank you so much for the support Saif! I will be uploading more videos soon and hope you like them. If you ever have any tech questions, please let me know and I will help you out!
It's hard to say because there are many factors that comes into play. If you prefer sound with a little more bass, then the m50x would be a good option. The m40x and HD 558 provide more clarity in the vocals and instruments. Comfort wise, the HD 558 is the most comfortable out of all of these. The HD 558 are an open back design so it leaks sound at higher volumes so that might be an issue for the library if it's really quiet. At lower volumes, it's not that bad but it depends on how you will be using them. If you just want good quality sound, nice design, and also on a budget, then the m40x are a great option. They are all great headphones, it just depends on your personal preference. I really hope this helps and if you have any other questions, please let me know.
陳柏源 - M40x, then look for replacement pads for better comfort. But it depends on how big your head is and after some wearing to get the headphones worn and used to your head size.
But it's a monitoring headphones it's used for music production and beatmaking purposes, why people are buying monitoring headphones to just watch movies with periode
because the monitoring part sells, giving quasi perspective to people that this headphones could be used on all purpose in all music genres as artist intended to sound. but in reality, it's slightly v shaped, slightly bass oriented to sounds more enjoyable for most people in real life. but as bad as it seems, m50x still nice, it's just enjoyable, the detail, clarity, sound staging here is another level, also the mids are superb. their sin is they market m50x as monitor neutral headphones, while in reality this is a monitor headphones with slight bass spicing in it. WHICH IS OKAY, it's more enjoyable for most population. that's why people tends to pick m50x. it's "monitoring" headphone with enjoyable bass.
i borrowed my friend's m50x. it's been a few weeks now.. i gotta say, i'm not the biggest fan, really crushed my head.. and not very comfortable with my glasses. Also tried his m30x, clamped like crazy, can't really judge the pads since he didn't change the pads for years, and it gets kinda deflated do you have any other options than the m30x/m50x? i was going to save up to get m50x, now i don't think i will get them. im considering getting a senn 400s, but the 559 seems a better option, though i am still having mixed feelings cuz i need the mics from the 400s.

This clarifies all of my doubts about the m40x and m50x
Awesome! I'm happy to hear my video was helpful!

I own the M50x and a pair of Sennheiser HD598 (yes, different from the 558). Both have good bass response, but the Sennheisers have a great bass punch. Thanks for your review.
Thank you so much for the support Bryan! I haven't had the chance to listen to the HD 598 but I've heard great things!
The HD558's aren't designed for portable use. So you wouldn't really plug them into your phone or portable audio device anyway. They're also completely open back, so sound would just leak in and out. They don't really fit the same category as the Audio Technica's.
Also, totally off point, but am I the only one who loves the look of the senheiser?
Very helpful video, clarified my doubts on office use and made the decision easier. Thank you very much!

People like the m40x more than the m50x, apparently the m50 has muddy bass.
Both are great for monitoring but I think m50x is better than m40x for just casual listening and gaming
i used m40x for gaming and the bass it too low. they gun firing barely has any thud. had to use an equalizer
@@suveerbhatia7 If you want a lot of bass, then studio monitors are probably not for you.. m40x are relatively flat headphones, so they have just enough bass as they should.. you have probably listened to some bassy headphones before, so to you it seems m40x lacks in bass..

The ATH-M50X to play guitar could be a good choice?
Absolutly! Otherwise, you can look for the DT 770: they're cheaper, wide sound stage and more clarity. If you plan on carrying them around/ on the go, then go with the M40X or M50X
@@antonine.rodrigue8769 thanks man.
So the Sennheiser looks worst than the Audio Technica ones huh, man, your taste...
So im decidimg between m40x with replacement pads (brainwavs angled) or sennheiser 598CS wondering what your opinions are i do wear headlhones for long hours so comfort is important
Or im looking at fidelio x2s (sorry im on a mobile device so i cant edit) are they worth it over the other two?
I haven't tried to fidelio's but for the m40x and HD 598 are great options with a couple of differences. The m40x will sound a little more exciting with all types of music such as rap, rock, or edm whereas the HD 598 will provide better clarity in the vocals and instruments. The HD 598 however, are more comfortable where you can wear them for hours and hours with little to no discomfort. I hope this helps! If you have any other questions, please let me know.
hi everyone,
I am adding this comment here to gather feedback and review on the audio technica ath m50x headphones. To help you all guys answer the question so it is understandable to me, let me give some info about my likes and dislikes:
1. i really liked the earphones shipped with the age old sony ericsson walkman series phones like w550i.
Thank you.
So, how are they?

Hope it can help you!
just pick BT2, BT slightly different in sounds. M50X BT2 sounds like the original M50X. go see many reviews about BT2, they will tell you the same.

if you want studio headphones go with the beyerdynamic dt990 pro (open back) or the Dt 770pro (closed back) but these will not be as portable and sleek because of bigger design .
the beyerdynamics lack base like the m50x but that isnt needed for studio uses. beyerdynamics will have better soundstage , audio quality and comfort .

Is Audio Technica ATM M40X headphone good for mixing and mastering
Yes, they would definitely be a great option. It also depends on what type of sound you are looking for because the M40x provides more clarity and details whereas the M50x provides a little more bass and a tad bit less clarity and detail compared to the M40x. It's not a huge difference because the M50x still does a great job producing clarity and details but the M40x has a slighter edge in that area whereas the M50x has a little edge when it comes to bass.

Could you address build quality on these headphones? Will all 3 last 10 years with heavy use? I would only use the headphones for podcasts or gaming, and not for music.
I would say that if you are just going to be using these casually for the podcast and music as you stated, you these would last for years and years. Great review....
Could you also let me know on gow the treble / highs are on M50X headpbones
Many reviews tell only about the bass part
Nice review. Thanx
Thank you, I really appreciate it!
Overall I like the M40X better then my M50X. Video games and movies sound better to me with M40X. I now have moved the M40X to the bedroom to watch movies mostly and the M50X are at the PC with my SHP9500.
Do you use your M50X for gaming? I'm looking at purchasing one and also attaching a Modmic 4.0 or 5.0.
Thank you :)
ProtonBehz Thanks I'm going to go with with the 50x, but I'll probably end up with both at some point; just to see which I like more.
i hope i'm not too late, the M40x provides a higher soundstage, i'm a metal head i listen to Djent , metalcore, mostly :D, some Erra, Meshuggah, ABR.. bass sounds nice with the kick it has, but as he said in the video, anything with instruments in my view i'd go with M40x, you need that rich sound presence and clarity, leave M50 for EDM/techno music, and please don't add bass to the smooth Beethoven XD
@@lizaclark1682 The m40 were the better alternative... You don't want pesky highs and bass in your classical, do you?

Thank you so much! Glad you liked my video!!
A really friendly personality.
Extremely good review

Can we increase the bass of M40x with an equalizer?
Yes, if you're listening to the headphones on let's say on your PC, there's options you can open up to increase the bass etc. I hope this helps!
@@ProtonBez thank you
which l should choose.
l want to use them in the library.
M40 or m50, can't do open back on quiet places.
But it's a monitoring headphones it's used for music production and beatmaking purposes, why people are buying monitoring headphones to just watch movies with periode
Cuz good sound quality is good for everything that requires listening to audio?
because the monitoring part sells, giving quasi perspective to people that this headphones could be used on all purpose in all music genres as artist intended to sound.
but in reality, it's slightly v shaped, slightly bass oriented to sounds more enjoyable for most people in real life.
but as bad as it seems, m50x still nice, it's just enjoyable, the detail, clarity, sound staging here is another level, also the mids are superb. their sin is they market m50x as monitor neutral headphones, while in reality this is a monitor headphones with slight bass spicing in it. WHICH IS OKAY, it's more enjoyable for most population.
that's why people tends to pick m50x. it's "monitoring" headphone with enjoyable bass.
@@marhensa great !
i borrowed my friend's m50x. it's been a few weeks now.. i gotta say, i'm not the biggest fan, really crushed my head.. and not very comfortable with my glasses. Also tried his m30x, clamped like crazy, can't really judge the pads since he didn't change the pads for years, and it gets kinda deflated
do you have any other options than the m30x/m50x? i was going to save up to get m50x, now i don't think i will get them.
im considering getting a senn 400s, but the 559 seems a better option, though i am still having mixed feelings cuz i need the mics from the 400s.
@@efemji man the question is why poeple are using and buying monitoring headphone for just watching tv !
monitoring headphone are made to be used in production --'
