Narrator (Tom Baker): In the year 2012, the Earth was hit by the last thing it was expecting.
Sanity.
2012 was the End of Days in the old Mayan calendar, a time of great change, the conclusion of history, and it seemed to coincide with a great sea change in the way people saw the world.
No-one dared suggest that it brought the change with it of course, but suddenly, we all looked at each other, and saw not where we all came from, but where we were all going.
And we decided to all go there together.
This is what we are fighting for. This is what the old rulers don't want us to have. A world gone sane.

yeah... Unlike other people i don't think Hostile Waters would work in today's political climate. Seriously, this and the main villains (at the start) would have people of today call this a "sjw/leftist propaganda" and we would just see another flame war about with the two political sides arguing about it.
the fact that some people in the comments here already have called it "commies" and said that the reason for this "ending of all wars" thing would not work, just goes to show how the plot is rather flawed. Then you have the fact that the "Old Guard" are portrayed as cartoonishly evil to the point of wanting to nuke the Earth back to the stone age to "fix it" after it has become a paradise without them. that really doesn't help.

To be fair, one of the Cabal's leaders is a communist.
Also the fact that war has broken out despite the technological advances shows everlasting peace is impossible. It's also implied that there were clashes with factions long before the Cabal came around.
@@mobiusraptor7 Well, to be completely fair, the guy you are talking about is as communist as SJW. And in story war with the cabal was the first conflict to occur after new government took power. There is no implications of otherwise. Wars raged before new government's rise to power, but not after that.

A post scarcity society will do that. Make everything that happens in it nonsensical. Even though it's the most rational course of action, it will make you question both what you previously had and what you have now

Death and Destruction something doom sayers love to talk about this... They fill our TV Books and radios... Cant we change our attitudes for the positive... If something does happen can hope that this happens? The last thing we all expect because our lives are in the dumpster one way or the other... If this does this is the one thing all doomsayers will never expect!
