NORD, please invite this guy to play more often. Can listen to him all the time and not get bored. After all, many videos on your channel with participants who try to take or surprise with speed and complex harmonies begin to tire. They, All, are very good, but once listened to, appreciated and that's it. But Rai, well, how to say... he is different, SPECIAL! Special in terms of energy, in addition to all his amazing qualities.
Apologies for the long winded reply. He can do all of that and most probably a lot more. He is probably the most awe inspiring musician I've come across. Truly gifted (I'm not dismissing the lifetime of practice He must've put in either) His dexterity, independence, speed, technique is world class. Not forgetting his apparent perfect pitch and knowledge of theory and harmonisation. As a drummer I'd love to play with him. It would be a dream. Just check out this video. No instruments, just sat in a car. His breakdown of the harmonisation and improvisation options over it are ridiculous! ruclips.net/video/YKuuiqpQmnM/видео.html
This is why "pop" artists do nothing for me, and I constantly tell people there are actually very gifted people out there you should be admiring instead, like Rai. But alas, the people are retarded.
Sorry, now i compared, Rai played better than Valera in that video, cause he can at the same time playing bass, theme and singing the song. But I think, that Valera can do the same without problems, he virtuoso and biggest russian jazz talent. But i'm agree with you, Rai super musician! )
I don't know how this song didn't make the TOP 40 somewhere. It's got everything going for it: a high energy vibe, Rai's signature soulful vocals, and his amazing jazz piano riffs. This dude's really got it going on.
Like so many Rai Thistlethwayte tunes, he just doesn't seem to collect the audience he deserves. Back in Aus in the 2000's he was on every popular TV show or awards night performance with Thirsty Merc. He is truly a one of a kind musician, and can do it all.
Proof that he is not only a good keyboardist but also a good composer. There are so many talented keyboardists nowadays (with the accessibility of technology and more affordable instruments) that are not only extremely talented and virtuosos, as well as excellent improvisers, but you have to enjoy the moment only, whatever flows through their brain in those seconds. Few minutes later you don't remember what they created, nor them. it is part of the flow of the music naturally. But there are those that not only play, they also create memorable sticky lines, like this guy. And although he is also virtuoso, he doesn't need to display a show of speed to be memorable.
Absolute genius how can anyone listen to this and not appreciate his incredible talent, voice and well, grooving along is essential. Anyone standing still ain't got no soul!
This guy is a quiet storm. He has toured with Satriani, Louis Cole, and so many more - and this dude can play anything. Watching him play rapid fire "sequenced parts" by hand in that Louis Cole video is a mind freak. Serious respect for this guy.
Rai Thistlethwayte is the best!! Nord has to invest more in it because Rai Thistlethwayte makes music for musicians but for people who like to listen to good music
Absolutely the best Nord out there. Everything on top here, tune, talent. And this is way better than the studio version. The full frequent piano, groove and voice is so dominant here and I absolutely love it!
Whether my kids talk about pop stars like Harry Styles or Taylor Swift, I just show them this clip and remind them that way greater talent is objectively found in so many more people than just the shiny ones on TV, like Rai.
I have Stage 3, but piano samples are the same. The general idea is that he has made a split with the synth bass in the lower octaves and piano in the top octaves. Then, we was using the Release parameter to create than sample cutoff effect that Dirty Loops and many others have been known for. In solo part, it sounds like he had changed the top sample to wurlie and added quite a bit of Drive parameter to give it that dirty, overdriven sound. Hope this helps.
Great!! Is this one of the default patches on the Piano 5? If so .. what's it called? If not.. can someone describe how the patch was created? Ive got a Piano 5, but struggling to get anything like this. Thank you!
@@VitaminDada Many thanks. There's a quite a number. I was hoping for a guide as to which ones.. but I'll work my way through them. Cheers for responding

Thirsty Merc
Cool chords, groovy bassline, amazing hand independence, WHILE HE SINGS?! What more could you want

Omg I just realised this is the keyboard player from Knower 🤯🤯
Truly how does he do it? Where's the Rai Thistlethwayte Independence Technique book@@FlowieFX
Um, Duh, He's a Freak'n One of a kind, genuine, One and Only. Genius! He's Rai.
One of the most underated artists today..... Glade to see Satch, Via & Johnstone got him performing with them!!!
his left hand movement beginning at 5:36 cured my depression
He is the best musician I have seen the last 10 years

@@arthurburton7601 I must admit, these last ten years I have not been keeping an eye out for talent.
Just so happened to stumble on this video.
I do miss real bands these days. He is great, don’t get me wrong. But the WE is better than the I.
I’d love to see him play with victor wooten’s band.
This is the one of the best Nord Artist
Singing and playing syncopated piano at the same time is already very difficult, then I realized that the bass synth was also played live...
This is just god-tier level playing, what an incredible human
We call this complete hand independence with vocals on top...

Quality isn’t for the masses. 😅
Incredible performance. I’m proud to be able to realize how talented this man is. So talented that he will only be famous to our community 😢

this guy should be a brand ambassador for Nord Piano
NICE!!! I came from the KNOWER video where Rai plays that INSANE one-handed piano solo!
Aussie Legend
Ridiculous! So good. Favorite thing about his playing, to sustain a chord or note-he holds it down, no sustain pedal😆🎵

He's in the ZONE, baby! Let's goooo.....
Rai has been on a couple tours as a part of Joe Satriani's band and he is amazing! I saw them in Denver two years ago and it was a fantastic show.
I didn’t know James LaBrie could play keyboards so good like Jordan!! 😝😝😝
absolute fuckin fire. my lord

Esse cara é muito bom. Gosto de muito de ver ele tocar. Parabéns!!!
wow!!!!
New trend bro !! So good
Rai is soo goood! I bet these Nord keyboards are very good, but I saw him playing very cheap keyboards, and it was just as brilliant.
Nice!!
He is overseen..... like hell
Why doesn't the album version sound as amazing as this?
probably cause this performance is the result of nearly a decade's experience of playing this song.
Wow soooo gooood man.

There are videos of him playing with Louis Cole and Knower...no wonder..
Brilliant performance. Great upbeat tempo! This needs some air time.
