    Hi Levy, I started playing about a month ago and I just made it to 800. I've finally come to the unavoidable conclusion that I have to actually start learning openings and stuff if I want to continue improving. I've seen you talk about your love of the Caro Kahn in different vids and thought it might be a cool opening to learn for black. Is it out of my current skillrange?

    • @porantso8092
      @porantso8092 2 года назад +3

      you can start with french and mix it with caro kann cause sometimes the carro gets into closed positions and learning how to deal with it in the french can help you also in carro kann cause positions are quite similar. hope this helps.

    • @thehypnotist9750
      @thehypnotist9750 2 года назад +4

      There's nothing wrong with learning openings but I'll guess the real reason you're 800 isn't because you don't know openings. It's because you don't follow basic chess principles like developing fast and controlling the center. Also because you leave pieces undefended and miss simple tactics for yourself and your opponent. My buddy is 1300 and doesn't know any openings at all, he just does a lot of puzzles lol. Start doing chess puzzles regularly if you don't already.

    • @nightgamerdbd
      @nightgamerdbd 2 года назад

      You can try the caro kann but u must know how to play closed positions and positions u got a lack of space in first. U may watch levys video for the same. But i would recommend u first get better at open positions coz the gameplay is a lot easier. I as a 1300 even struggle in the caro kann due to the lack of space I get so I barely ever play it. Stockfish even says I am completely lost(+3 or more) due to the lack of space and bad position of my pieces in caro kann many times(stockfish hates the caro kann due to the lack of space it gives u.. It says white is already +1 very early on if u choose to play the caro)

      ok, most of these comments are kinda off. karo can be played by anyone, but you just have to know the basic ideas to the responses of it. if you're 800 and just recently started playing, youll get better, and as that one guy said, openings arent the most most important thing ever. learn one playstyle, something like the vienna or karo or something and learn the different positions you can get into with it and youll play good games and get to 1000 in no time. also, stop blundering pieces, that almost puts you at 1000 already

      @@besart9740 You got it man. People don't get above 1000 until they stop blundering every other move. It doesnt matter what opening you know if you blunder a lot. My gf is 900 and gives me free pieces left and right lol. My other buddy who is 1300 and doesnt know any openings, he simply has better vision of the board and doesn't blunder nearly as much. It's good to learn openings but it's more important to learn to see how the pieces interact to minimize blunders (puzzles help). Also basic chess principles.

    The 975 could have been one of the rare matches you get where you play an even or winning game and then they fire up stockfish and proceed to best move you out of existence.

    • @thegreatjizz8412
      @thegreatjizz8412 2 года назад

      I did not use stockfish. But I see why everyone thinks I did. I was reviewing one of my other games using stockfish where I played the modern defense and I was in a similar position where my opponent had taken my bishop and I opened the h file and my king wasn’t on the back rank so my entire back rank was open except the rooks on each side and my h file was open and the opponent had castled on the same side of the board as me. And when I used stockfish to review the game it told me that Rxh2 was a move except in that game there was a different set of moves to get a checkmate of course, the pieces weren’t on all the same spots. And in that game you just saw I didn’t see mate in 6, I just knew Rxh2 from that other game I reviewed was a move and I had my knight close by so I played it and I just hoped I would be able to find a check mate. But I don’t play super seriously, so whenever I have a chance to play a cool move and find a crazy check mate I take it because I just play for fun. And in this instance it just panned out well. Trust there have been multiple occasions where I tried the same thing and just blundered a full rook😂

    This literally happened to me. My move was an inaquracy, because I only managed to win 2 points of material instead of seeing 15 moves in advance, where I can come out with a roock and a pawn up. Ah, and engine wanted me to undevelope my bishop. Yeah no chance. And I thought my move was a great move😭😭

    23:20 i mean, at 1400, i could see rxh2 with rah8 with a qh1 mate threat. nf3 seems natural after bh3. rg2 might be a stretch for a 900-1000, think rxf3+ would look juicier for a lower elo player

    I love it! Your expressions make it all worth. Who likes plane Jane games anyways right?
    Want to know a secret? Many years ago I spent 3 months straight of giving up my queen (i.e. whichever way I decided) from which I learned a deeper understanding of Chess. Points,points,points, so over rated.
    Position definitely is more pivotal.
    The last month of the 3, I discovered that a little pawn has queen potential, and can likewise carry a dagger for a king.
