As a native spanish speaker, I can say that the Ruy López is pronounced “The Vienna is better”
Colle (pronounced coal and not like the dog bred) QCD opening for me. Rye Lopez's 9 Grain opening does squash the Fried Liver attack.
You stole my comment format!!!! Good comment tho

@@aman-qj5sx well thank you that really means a lot coming from such a talented player. I was very proud of the game that’s the only reason I sent it in.

Levy was so stunned by Nemo playing this game that you could visibly see the full second it took him to process the information before instantly perishing
No it was just the delay
Scam
Spoiler
@@arttusiirila6790 we're seeing levy's point of view of nemo, so any delay has already been accounted for. my mans just needed a second for the comedy to process

I like how Nemo just assumes that nobody would ever willingly play chess sober.
Naroditsky and Alireza would like to have a chat with you
Honestly a good assumption for GTE
31:27 you can actually pinpoint the second Levy traveled into another dimension due to the shock of realizing this was a game by Nemo.
Underrated comment lol 😂
For a lovely clip, rewind one second from that time stamp and put the video in half speed

Lessons learned: Levy is the master elo guesser. Also, that last game plot twist was amazing!
Yeah, I believe Levy taught chess to kids and therefore has a natural feel for beginning play.
The ending is priceless
That plot twist cracked me up so hard I literally fell in the floor laughing (mostly by Levy's reaction)
New video idea: Guess the move. You'll be given the position, the eval and the rating. You have to guess what move was made. It'd be fun in lower ratings and instructional in higher ratings.
That Would be awesome
This sounds like a jones idea 😂
Didn't we have something like that before?
@@Galardomond no i dont think so. Another Thing we had was guess the eval
He would abandon it after two/three episodes lmao
This might be the greatest twist ending ever for Guess the Elo.
The twist ending is right up there with "wait, you played against Anna Cramling?" "...Wait, Anna Cramling hung her queen????"
Nemo is quite amazed at seeing the games. Whereas Levy is as chill as a doctor who is used to people with all sorts of diseases.
I like how optimistic Nemo is for the player, while Levy is so deadpan lol.
Levy's reaction to that last game was like a 2nd best student finding out the 1st one failed one quiz.
their impact on each other was so funny. Nemo was so innocent and naive, and Levy was obviously holding back
Why is Nemo assuming everyone's dead drunk? Is she trying to protect their feelings? Hey, you're not 1500, you're a super drunk super-GM!
You have to invite a strong 1000elo player in the next Guess the elo , so u can
Compare his guesses to yours , cuz masters and lower rated players don't always see moves from the same perspective.
While true, Levy spent a lot of time coaching at schools and chess clubs before his internet career, so I think he has a better understanding of how lower rated players approach chess than many masters.
I guarantee you that experience can be had by looking at his chat during GTE. No way is there any more than 15% of his viewership over 4 digit elo lmao
im glad to see that deranged reply got removed. I support this idea
@@ogluqqychess4452 woah, what deranged reply?

Only veteran chess fans would get a false hype after misreading the video title from Nemo to Nepo.
In which people for one second would assume that Gotham would have a SuperGM as a guest
He had Anish Giri on his podcast.
Nemo is obsessed with people being drunk
I like that Nemo always assumes everyone is drunk

Levy, the authority on guess the elo, helping fellow chess enjoyers to learn the art.
To give the 975 rated guy some reasoning to find that, he may have just played what felt like a good move, then played checks until it was mate. I'm a 1500 and found mate in 15 today over the board with a friend of mine, so give him the benefit of the doubt
I was that 975 guy I’m a 1050 now tho lol. You can hear her say my name “TheGreatJizz” in the video and yeah that’s exactly what happened. In a different game a few days earlier I had lost a game and was going over it on stockfish and stockfish suggested that crazy tactic so then the next time I was in the same position I implemented it and just went move by move and saw checkmate. I definitely didn’t see the check mate that many moves ahead, I was just hoping it would pan out lol
@@thegreatjizz8412 hey want to play with me
@@xdanimations0079 what’s your rating?
1500 is a lot different than 975 though
@@dietrichhittmusic yeah but I didn’t actually see the checkmate that many move ahead. I just saw a nice opportunity to open up the king and I thought that there was a good chance I’d be able to find a checkmate somewhere in there but if I didn’t and I ended up just going down a rook I wasn’t going to sweat it I really just play casually and for fun.

I'm so glad "Alright, so should we play? Let's go." sponsored this episode, it's my favorite product!
this comment^^^^
Nemo hinting that she wants to get drunk and play chess with you levy...
Nemo would rather guess that they're drunk than guess a slightly lower elo
Whenever they do guess the elo, I feel a little better about myself and my non-existent chess abilities.
The only thing I've learned from GTE is that the Subs sometimes only looks and thinks about their move and not the opponent's move.
Rewatching the last game knowing Nemo was black is hilarious. "You can't be trading pieces when you're down material" lol.
19:28 what a roller coaster of emotions
I like the normal format (where you comment alone) much better.
levy and Nemo lives in the opposite spectrum.. Levy's like I am so done with this and Nemo's like so hopeful... lol
This is so relatable, coming up from time to time with twice the tactics of my elo, then playing those wtf moves in between. I could fathom making rook takes h2 at 22:37, not necessarily calculating all the way to the end, yet my elo is currently lower than the subs. I guess that's halfway 'getting lucky' lol, but yea, still do actual accurate tactics at 500 points above my elo.
I like the Ryu Lopez oppening and try to connect a Dragon Punch or a Hadouken as soon as possible.
Yeah the fuzzy crossup with white is kinda broken
That musium analogy, I'd watch everything you make if such anologies are there.
I love this series so much
That was a sudden twist there...
Omg what an incredible end to this 🤣
Of course it’s our favorite series cause we pass through every emotion while seeing these games
Absolutely love it when Levi thanks the sponsor of the video but before he does we just cut straight to content :D

Exactly! Simple tactic to spot after some puzzles... Good game though
@@JazzDB I'm pretty sure the 900 guy didn't see the mate in 10
Just had some faith and got the dub
levy was shocked seeing Nemo games
With the insanely good 975 I think it is quite possible, because though someone can mess up small moves with distant threats a lot and thus be a low rating, hard and time consuming calculation might be their strong point.
Don’t worry Nemo. Hikaru recently stalemated a 1400 too 🤷♂️
Hi Levy, I started playing about a month ago and I just made it to 800. I've finally come to the unavoidable conclusion that I have to actually start learning openings and stuff if I want to continue improving. I've seen you talk about your love of the Caro Kahn in different vids and thought it might be a cool opening to learn for black. Is it out of my current skillrange?
you can start with french and mix it with caro kann cause sometimes the carro gets into closed positions and learning how to deal with it in the french can help you also in carro kann cause positions are quite similar. hope this helps.
There's nothing wrong with learning openings but I'll guess the real reason you're 800 isn't because you don't know openings. It's because you don't follow basic chess principles like developing fast and controlling the center. Also because you leave pieces undefended and miss simple tactics for yourself and your opponent. My buddy is 1300 and doesn't know any openings at all, he just does a lot of puzzles lol. Start doing chess puzzles regularly if you don't already.
You can try the caro kann but u must know how to play closed positions and positions u got a lack of space in first. U may watch levys video for the same. But i would recommend u first get better at open positions coz the gameplay is a lot easier. I as a 1300 even struggle in the caro kann due to the lack of space I get so I barely ever play it. Stockfish even says I am completely lost(+3 or more) due to the lack of space and bad position of my pieces in caro kann many times(stockfish hates the caro kann due to the lack of space it gives u.. It says white is already +1 very early on if u choose to play the caro)
ok, most of these comments are kinda off. karo can be played by anyone, but you just have to know the basic ideas to the responses of it. if you're 800 and just recently started playing, youll get better, and as that one guy said, openings arent the most most important thing ever. learn one playstyle, something like the vienna or karo or something and learn the different positions you can get into with it and youll play good games and get to 1000 in no time. also, stop blundering pieces, that almost puts you at 1000 already
@@besart9740 You got it man. People don't get above 1000 until they stop blundering every other move. It doesnt matter what opening you know if you blunder a lot. My gf is 900 and gives me free pieces left and right lol. My other buddy who is 1300 and doesnt know any openings, he simply has better vision of the board and doesn't blunder nearly as much. It's good to learn openings but it's more important to learn to see how the pieces interact to minimize blunders (puzzles help). Also basic chess principles.
Gotham, are there any chess books you’d recommend to improve?
am i the onlyone that would love to see Levy make a classic lets play
Bruh levy sounds soooo depressed during the whole episode 💔🙂

The 975 could have been one of the rare matches you get where you play an even or winning game and then they fire up stockfish and proceed to best move you out of existence.
I did not use stockfish. But I see why everyone thinks I did. I was reviewing one of my other games using stockfish where I played the modern defense and I was in a similar position where my opponent had taken my bishop and I opened the h file and my king wasn’t on the back rank so my entire back rank was open except the rooks on each side and my h file was open and the opponent had castled on the same side of the board as me. And when I used stockfish to review the game it told me that Rxh2 was a move except in that game there was a different set of moves to get a checkmate of course, the pieces weren’t on all the same spots. And in that game you just saw I didn’t see mate in 6, I just knew Rxh2 from that other game I reviewed was a move and I had my knight close by so I played it and I just hoped I would be able to find a check mate. But I don’t play super seriously, so whenever I have a chance to play a cool move and find a crazy check mate I take it because I just play for fun. And in this instance it just panned out well. Trust there have been multiple occasions where I tried the same thing and just blundered a full rook😂
4:07 that mate cracked me up..😂
Let’s all thank the sponsor everyone 😂
8:17
This literally happened to me. My move was an inaquracy, because I only managed to win 2 points of material instead of seeing 15 moves in advance, where I can come out with a roock and a pawn up. Ah, and engine wanted me to undevelope my bishop. Yeah no chance. And I thought my move was a great move😭😭
31:20
I died out laughing 😂😂.
Great chemistry between you two! I hope to see more videos of you and Nemo!
anyone: makes a sub-optimal move
nemo: * D R U N K*
Guess the Elo gives me life
Last game “whoever was playing as black needs a lobotomy” ouch 🤣
Collab guess the elo! Very nice
23:20 i mean, at 1400, i could see rxh2 with rah8 with a qh1 mate threat. nf3 seems natural after bh3. rg2 might be a stretch for a 900-1000, think rxf3+ would look juicier for a lower elo player
Yeah, so easy! Just a mate in 10 after a rook sac in the middle of the game, nothing too fancy
Hilarious ending. Plus outright Game Theory with all Levi's guesses. Being correct doesn't matter. Only win!
That 975 owned them with that game 😂😂😂
Levy is so tired of the previous games that he brings Nemo to suffer with him
Yay Nemo

I love Levy and Nemo GTE combo! Please upload more, they are so entertaining!
I love it! Your expressions make it all worth. Who likes plane Jane games anyways right?
Want to know a secret? Many years ago I spent 3 months straight of giving up my queen (i.e. whichever way I decided) from which I learned a deeper understanding of Chess. Points, points, points, so over rated.
Position definitely is more pivotal.
The last month of the 3, I discovered that a little pawn has queen potential, and can likewise carry a dagger for a king.
"We can also assume they're sober in case they're 11"
27:50 For anyone wondering, in the end Levy purposefully did not play the Caro, and then after the game he said that he did it cause he thought it would have frustrated her, my guy was playing 5D Chess not normal Chess.
9:35 chat read 'accelerated mate, cliff jump variation' lmao
As a 900-1000 rated player I can confirm everybody’s scared of Bishop pins or Knight jumps on g5-b5-b4-g4, so they say me push pawn to prevent move
