If you are seeking show recommendations, my partner and I are watching Newsroom (by Aaron Sorkin.) It has aged very well! As for Thanksgiving items, just generic autumn stuff should do the trick. It's so nice to see you knitting again! I missed that. I just started using circular needles for the first time ever the other night (making my first sweater!!) It's going to take some getting used to.
Love the hats! My gift giving pattern us granny square slippers using complement colours and some colour changing ombré transitions. To me, it is light watercolour painting. The granny square booties would make a big statement 😂❤
For a crochet hat tutorial, you could try Daisy Farm Crafts tutorial called Easy Crochet Beanie. It’s got a picture of a toddler. I LOVE how she did hers and it’s easy translated into adult sized hat by adding a few extra chains and rows. It is a panel thats sewn together but it’s my favorite beanie crochet pattern I’ve found. Also, i think it’d be fun if you kept all your skein papers over Vlogmas! It doesn’t have to be a challenge where you’re trying to use a bunch of yarn on purpose, but just a background thing to update us on every week?
I am going to try and write out the pattern that I know for crocheting beanies. I've made almost 70 this year to donate :) Magic Circle start (or the Ch4 circle you hate lol) 12 DC into center SS to join and Ch1 2 DC into each (24 total) SS to join and Ch1 1 DC 2 DC (repeat 36 total) SS to join and Ch1 1 DC 1 DC 2 DC (repeat 48 total) SS to join and Ch1 1 DC 1 DC 1 DC 2DC (repeat 60 total) SS to join and Ch1 At this point, it's just rows of DC until it's a good length. I find that it takes about 9-10 rows AFTER the increases are complete to be a good length and then I do 2-3 rows of SC to make a border. This is with worsted weight yarn and a 4.5 or 5mm hook. Yarnspirations has a similar free pattern from Caron that is baby/toddler sizes.

There's a pattern here on RUclips by The Turtle Trunk for a crochet beanie. Its called The Country Cottage Beanie, and you said you were looking for a top down crochet beanie pattern so this is one that I recommend. Its pretty easy and I loved making it!
