I find it hard to believe that the max load is only 30lbs, these look like they can handle at least 50lb... can you please confirm that the max load is only 30lbs? thanks

You could almost certainly load up more than that, but we tend to under-rate our stands in the interest of safety. What are you hoping to mount on yours?
