WOW! A contender!!! They are still around???? I sailed one a few times back in the late 1970's. The most difficult singlehand boat I ever sailed!!! Great Video... by someone who really knows how to handle such a boat!!!! Great Job!
I've got an RS700 and I dream of taking it out in the surf in the same way that you do w/ your Contender. It's so freaking awesome seeing you just freaking go for it and do this insane stuff on your boat. Kudos to you man!
Beautiful location and superb skills, looks awesome out on the waves well done i am very envious of your location...may have to travel across the channel to try out your waters
Excellent video- It is just like being on board! - I would love to sail a Contender but I have very bad knees... I will have to be content with my Flying Fifteen and Comet.
No, but we can lift the boat in on it's side and swim it out. Done that in Kuehlungsborn. Would be tricky with onshore winds probably... (nice on the make it to the frontpage of Sailing Anarchy btw ;)
Hoi Koos, nice that you are interested to sail in Noordwijk aan Zee! Can you adjust your centerboard and rudder that it doesn't hit the bottom when you go into and out of the sea?
@dutchie1263 Yes Flying Fifteen especially is a great boat, but I have never experienced a trapeze. If I could sail anything at all (in my dreams) it would be a Contender - it is such a beautiful boat, with classic lines - like the Flying Fifteen.
Yes, would it be possible to visit with some moths? (I'm the dutch class president) Maybe we can join a regular club race? I've sailed on the Baltic with the moth, and it was just wonderful, need them sea waves! You make good advertising ;)
Yea but i understand 420 can be single handed too and it also comes with trapeze, and spinnaker which makes it more interesting in a way. Im from Argentina. Thanks.
+ale giaco I think the Contender is more comfortable for trapezing for the helmsman, because of it's mastrake, maybe there are some other single handed dinghy's in Argentina.

One of the best sailing video ever! Compliments dutchie1263!

great shots! i was gonna have a go at you for not having a fixed rudder, but then i saw the surf you have to get through off the beach
From a spanish laserist it´s amazing to sea the boat reaching so well... Nice sailing experience... OHUHHH

@tiposxdiesel
sorry to hear about your knees, but sailing in a flying15 or cornet must also be great fun!

@Teletha41
no, I'm not coming to the Sneekweek
best regards, Ron
Which boat is it, I do not think it is a flying 15??? isnt it ??
Please say what class yacht did you use in this video
Hello Pettifox, its the Contender Class
how about Sneekweek this year? ;)
Misschien kunnen we een keer met een stuk of wat motten langskomen in Noordwijk? Bij een clubwedstrijdje ofzo? Groet, Koos
I will contact the club if it is possible that a couple of Moths join a clubrace at the ZVN in Noordwijk aan Zee!
Trapezing - The true joy in life.
Hi, is it the contender so different to the 420? i cant find a contender in my country. Thks
+ale giaco
it's much different, it's a single handed boat with trapeze, length is 4,88m. In which country you live?
