U.S. based short-seller Hindenburg Research in a new report released on Saturday alleged that the chairperson of India's market regulator Madhabi Puri Buch previously held investments in certain offshore funds that were also used by Adani Group.
In a late night press statement, Buch denied these allegations and called them baseless, adding that a detailed statement would be issued later.
Citing whistleblower documents, Hindenburg said Buch and her husband held stakes in an offshore fund where a substantial amount of money was invested by associates of Vinod Adani, brother of Gautam Adani, who is chairman of Adani Group.

If SEBI Chairperson is confident then she should file 500 to 1000 Cr defamation case against Hindenburg. None of the panel members are even discussing about the possibility of any wrong doings. Instead of panel members trying to instill confidence for investors by crying foul, go through the legal way to defend your name and if there is any wrong doings by chairperson, resign immediately and she must be punished accordingly as per the law. This will create confidence for all investors in Indian market, do not beat around the bush, come clean.

First question should be....what is the stake of hiddenberg in Indian economy and his report should be rejected outrightly, if he has zero stake in indian economy.
Short sellers wants always to take benefit of short time. If due to their report market falls they will be benefited. And later if their report proved to be wrong after long time who cares. They made money already. So they are interested in this short time impact. Ofcourse opposition will like to give political colour to this. Can they say all transactions of related stocks will be on hold till things are resolved? Not possible.
For a single short seller report, if the market falls, we prioritize foreign entities over our institutions like SEBI and the High Court. Therefore, I urge all investors to stop investing, as I believe this is the weakest market. We don't even ask Hindenburg to respond to their show cause notice; it's just a hit-and-run case by Hindenburg.

SEBI as a regular shouldn’t have any vested interests in the market or big market players. This is more dangerous than even insider trading. Don’t get emotional with insider outsiders narrative. We want our market to be unblemished as a true nationalist. SEBI chief must be removed immediately

My great respect to Sir, Sushil Jainji. Deep, penetrating focus on the present scene. Sebi chairperson should give her declaration on the issue. Should resign from the post. But why Hindenberg is so interested on Indian capital market only? If there is any issue, it should be settled by Honble Supreme Court. We retailers are Bearing brunts from it.
