    I was working at a gas station on a hill in Portland during all this. Picked up extra shifts and didn't even mind because watching people try and drive was priceless. Gas pedal doesn't always mean go.

    0:42 As an European I wonder: does that Wallmart sell salt? If not they should inmediately buy some. They lose a lot of customers for not spending some cheap salt on that hill. Stupids! Only five kilograms of salt could be the best investment during that day, representing a profit of thousands of dollars. The shop manager should be inmediately fired.

    • @aspiealex9710
      @aspiealex9710 4 года назад +5

      As someone who works for Walmart, they probably do but with mine they are usually super anal about when too put it out and how much too put it out, I know one day I've about killed myself on black ice in numerous spots, asked if I could put some salt outside, "no the managers said no salt because they don't want it tracking into the store"

      I know another big concern with salting roads is the environmental impact. I say salt the hill, but there are people that say it’s not worth polluting the runoff

    Walmart should have least put salt down, especially on a up hill entrance.

    • @andrea.mf.hailey
      @andrea.mf.hailey 8 лет назад

      LEDs are brightness controlled with PWM (pulse width modulation), which is basically flickering on and off really fast, with the pulses longer the brighter they are. Cameras are faster than our eyes, so they miss some of the "on" flickers.

    Are they on summer tyres?

    • @James225
      @James225 7 лет назад +36

      +R Diaz Tire and tyre both mean a covering for a wheel, usually made of rubber. Tire is the preferred spelling in the U.S. and Canada. Tyre is preferred in most varieties of English outside North America however.
      RUclips can be used by people from countries around the globe, not just the US and Canada. You live in a world where not everyone is like you, not everyone uses the same language as you, or the same spelling. Get used to it......

    Sometimes ALL SEASON TIRES just doesn’t work, try using winter tires for such conditions!

  • @danc1197
    @danc1197 5 лет назад

    They should pave the roads with a rough layer of asphalt for better traction on ice. Smooth asphalt is nice in the summer but the worst thing you could drive on when the ice forms.

    Having 2WD during winter conditions can be much more challenging then having AWD or 4x4 which makes winter driving a lot easier

    • @45eno
      @45eno 3 года назад +2

      Winter tires are far more important on paved snowy/icy roads than AWD. Watch the 2WD vs 4WD videos comparing All Season to Winter tires. AWD + Winter tires is best but 2WD + Winter is 2nd best over 4WD with stock tires on paved roads. Off road is a different story. Being able to turn and stop on slick roads is even more important then simply starting. FWD + Winter tires can start on slick conditions sometimes better than AWD with stock. Don't by the marketing lies, watch the reviews. Tires , tires , tires.

      @@45eno I've driven with summer tires and had no problems with ice and snow with 4x4. You have to know how to drive in it. Don't think winter tires makes you invincible against snow and ice.

    • @45eno

      @@hhds113 Yep the most important aspect of driving in the winter is knowing how to drive and what level of available grip you have. Both AWD only and winter tire only types can get over confident in their purchased tools for the winter. Basically I lean towards best tires for the winter season as AWD by itself can help you get rolling better from a light but does nothing to help you stop or turn. Which means most people can drive in snow on all season tires as long as they stay within their ability to stop in time which I think many naive awd drivers won’t always gauge well. Yes same can happen to someone that thinks winter tires will make the car grip like dry conditions.

      usually its actually a mixture of salt and sand. Here in most of Europe you can even get it for free when its really bad snow. Supplied by city. Though I love northern countries, Scandinavia. Those f+ckers dont care,even in major cities they just drive on hardened snow (like we all should) with good winter tyres or spikes :), when its bad, too much snow to remove.., why bother.
