    The .22 shot brought back memories. I was EMT Crew Chief on an ambulance that was dispatched to "self-inflicted gunshot wound." Police cars everywhere. I asked the first cop where the patient was. "He's that guy standing over there giving a statement to that trooper..."
    Say what?
    I ask the guy where he was shot, and he points to his head above his right ear. I found the entrance wound, and in palpating the area I could feel the bullet about 2 inches away from the entrance. It was trapped between the scalp and the skull!
    When he brought the derringer up to his head in a suicide attempt, it was at an angle and glanced off the skull, just like the helmet shot.

      @@jdsguam Eh, depends on the situation, and where on the head it hit really.
      By situation I also include training. Say, a shoot out, where someone in the back can fairly easily move up, drag you out, and take your place, absolutely. There would be no reason to "stay in" for that situation. On the other hand, if there is no falling back, you would probably still be able to pull a trigger and point in the general right direction, after a 9mm.
      The reason I mention training, take boxers for example. There have been plenty of matches called due to someone being "dead on their feet". Enough head trauma they couldn't tell you their name, but training keeps their feet under then, and hands up in front, despite not actually comprehending what their doing.
      I wouldn't say the same for the 357. There's a respectable chance to live, but I doubt you'd be doing enough thinking to say much of anything.
      That being said, we're talking the absolute worst case hit, by both rounds, that you could stil consider being a direct straight shot to the helmet. I was still most surprised by the 45 though. Sure, didn't expect it to do major damage, but that edge shot not really doing anything but breaking a ziptie... I'd call that impressive for the helmet.

    Yeah, those glass heads are only meant to display wigs on and the glass is of uneven thickness but so is the bone of a human skull. You'd need an MD to give a forma opinion but t looks like a passable analog of the real thing to assess damage with to me. Better than a resin zombie head...

    • @CptJistuce
      @CptJistuce 3 года назад

      Tempered glass likes to shatter into a million pieces when it takes any damage. I wouldn't call it a realistic analog for a skull.

    • @witiwap86
      @witiwap86 3 года назад

      It doesn't require an MD. No, this isn't a representation of a skull. Living bone is a lot more flexible than people think it is. It doesn't shatter as soon as it starts to deform at all. Breaking the glass could happen with a movement of only 1mm inward; a skull would just flex or compress that far. Also, as the skull deforms it absorbs more and more energy through the constant resistance. The force breaking the glass applies near instantaneously and because the glass isn't flexing at all it's being concentrated in a much smaller area. As the skull deformed it would begin conforming to the shape increasing the area of energy transfer. The glass doesn't show us how a skull would react at all, it only gives an idea of the impact force.

      I mean to be fair this video isn't very accurate first you have your hair and your skin and your bone your skin and hair would definitely absorb a good amount of the impact and then you have your bone which is a good amount stronger than that piece of glass so I'd say that you'd be able to survive up to a slug pretty easily

      @taofledermaus man, I just saw Danny's last video. I have health issues too, mine are manageable tho n I woke up in pain n was taking my pain meds when his video popped up.
      When he said, "donate blood" I cried.
      When he said, "see ya on the other side." I smiled.
      I was hospitalised for 996 days straight and left with an illiostomy bag.
      My wife came home with a kitty one day and... idk... I started carrying him outside when I tried walking up the driveway. Then walked up the street.
      Now we walk around the block every day. I trained him to walk beside me with a harness. I see people walking their dogs and here I am, a white guy with a shaved head and tattoos walking my kitty on a harness.
      I live in Japan and they are very kind to me but they let me know I am a foreigner. Tattoos are still taboo. Having a kitty and smiling at the old ladies has helped me make many friends. They knew I was hospitalised and saw me get better, slowly.
      I live a great life and sympathise and empathise for people like Danny. NGL his video funked me up first thing in the morning but I was not going to turn it off.
      My IRL name is David. I love your videos. Here in Japan, guns are highly restricted. A civilian may get a shotgun for hunting but it has to be a certain way. So watching your videos, I ponder the idea if I can get a shotgun in the future.
      If you EVER get the chance to come here, you will love it. It is a cool country. Moving here was the best decision I ever made.
