  • In this video I take a look at the Sabre Apex Prime, a fully metal Nerf Sniper and replacement to the M20. It has both pump action and side prime operation, quick change barrel and spring, and insane durability.

    I finally have one of these. The the stock is awful and not compatible with anything, the screw holes don't all line up well, the top rail is ridiculous as a two part piece for absolutely no reason (that also can't be attached completely), the rear grip digs into your hand and finger because of how it's mounted, the front grip slams your hand into the magazine, the magwell is totally unflared making mag insertion and removal a nightmare, it uses like a zillion ever-so-slightly different size and style bolts and screws for ABSOLUTELY no reason (this, alone, should get everyone at the company fired) and it comes with a SCAR attachment instead of a BCAR. (really? STOP MAKING SCARS, they are a useless waste of time as BCARs are better in every single way...just stop) It's a cool prototype, the final UX people did a terrible job. This blaster is a huge waste of money when you can get a significantly better blaster by buying a Nightingale and adding upgrades and still have money left over for snacks. This is simply an unfinished product. I highly recommend that nobody buys this for any reason. Oh, and the instructions are not good... (though Bradley did a great video, thank you for that!)
    This blaster would have been a good Beta Prototype five years ago, though still an unfinished product. Today? it's an Alfa Prototype and being released as is is an absolute joke, especially for close to $500. Do not buy this. It does look pretty cool and it does work, it will impress non hobbyists for sure, and even insiders that you have a shiny thing that costs a lot of money but it is still a BAD product and you should not spend your money on it ...unless they promise you a free upgrade when v2.0 comes out.

    I dont think it's as simple as "my nexus pro is good enough" as the counter opinion to this blaster, at this price I'm just not happy to see the things that were overlooked. There's honestly so much about this blaster that I don't like, QOL features that have been long figured out by now like a better magwell or a return spring for that very far forward bolt, or a more comfortable bolt in general, really should've been a priority to Sabre imo. I understand why the bolt option is there but in execution it's just not very functional because of the position and lack of return spring, just cluttering the outer shell aesthetic. As an upgrade to the M20 this is definitely more worthwhile but I think something like the Harrier offers an overall better user experience at nearly half the price (including sabres plunger) and not a huge decrease in potential fps. Obv the harrier is not all metal though so I guess if that's your main concern then the apex does exist, but imo this product really jumped the gun on being an "affordable" all metal option without including important features to user experience. I'm sure whoever gets one will be happy with it but I'd be surprised if it's any of those people's overall favorite blaster or even their most used. Good review as always though Brad👍 if it's not clear my comments aren't meant to argue your enjoyment of the thing just some thoughts. Looking forward to seeing some more gameplay from this blaster.

    • @BradleyPhillipsYT
      @BradleyPhillipsYT  10 месяцев назад +1

      A return spring would have been nice for bolt action operation, and you could probably even add one yourself. It would make priming a little heavier though so that is the trade-off. Unsure how many people would actually use bolt action though.
      The magwell is my main complaint with the blaster overall, though I'm not sure how you'd get away from it being flat walled using sheet metal. Perhaps it should be a separate CNC piece but then the cost goes up.
      Compared to a Harrier or similar high performance plastic blasters, yes the performance is the same, you're sending a dart out of a cylindrical tube at the same velocity so nothing has changed, what this blaster has is durability and a smooth prime.

  • @jemeljordan-butler4510
    @jemeljordan-butler4510 11 месяцев назад +2

    I mean, he’s right. I’m never going to buy this, (if I was going to spend $425 on a blaster, I might as well pay $560 for that Sweetheart Storm. I’ll stick with my Lynx and Bolt Action Caliburn) but it is still impressive as hell!

    • @BradleyPhillipsYT
      @BradleyPhillipsYT  11 месяцев назад +5

      The Storm is a compelling alternative when you get up into this price range. I guess it comes down to whether the user wants semi auto / full auto, or do they want something entirely made of metal. There's no correct choice.

If I have the spare money for nerf blaster. Definitely will get this one! Metal parts are more capable to take heavy spring and last longer if you take care of it. Video shows the oversights/lack of initial testing. Talons (most common hobby mag, ever) doesn't go in smoothly nor out, have to yank it out. Trigger has waaaayy too much play for a blaster of that price and the grip doesn't even sit properly as well as the need for a janky pad because the metal frame obviously rubs (hard) on your hand. Nah man.

    • @BradleyPhillipsYT
      @BradleyPhillipsYT  10 месяцев назад +1

      The magwell is definitely a downside of the blaster. The padding on mine has been replaced on the final version with a plastic cover, so the grip should then also seat flat against the body. The one in this video was a prototype, but yeah, the magwell is not something you can really improve other than adding an external flare.

    Do you think u could get it up to 400fps to compete with the m20s?

      Easily. Sabre sell a 30kg spring.

      Yes, you can and you need to go body building first before able to wield and prime for a 400 fps blaster.

    Is the "durability" of metal really worth paying triple the price for a basic feature set of a pump - action springer? If you're throwing your blaster onto / into hard surfaces maybe.
    There's this being relatively cheaper (due to everything Sabre sells being exorbitantly priced due to economies of scale) but it's not objectively affordable.

    • @BradleyPhillipsYT
      @BradleyPhillipsYT  10 месяцев назад +3

      Durability isn't the only advantage this has over something like a Worker Harrier for example. The linear bearings give it a smoother prime, the air volume is much larger, and it can quick swap the spring from the rear.
      Ultimately it is up to the individual to decide whether a fully metal blaster is worth it, but it feels a lot nicer to use a blaster that isn't flimsy.
      For high performance Nerfers who play 300fps or higher (this can shoot up to 500fps with a 30kg spring) the peace of mind that it won't break at those performance levels could outweigh 'risking it' with a cheaper plastic blaster.

    As a Singaporean, I really feel bad not knowing they were from Singapore! However, I still find it quite expensive, but i guess beggers cant be choosers! Surprisingly, it is not specifically mainstream here and we mostly use blasters from overseas (not that im an expert in that, just what i see from limited videos)

    Worker's pushers seal into the barrel in the exact same way this one does.
    By the flared part you mean the worker dart gate/guide bit that guides the dart into the barrel and also holds the barrel right? Worker pushers dont seal on that bit, the oring seals into the barrel like the sabre.

    • @BradleyPhillipsYT
      @BradleyPhillipsYT  11 месяцев назад +1

      Older Worker blasters before the Harrier and Seagull sealed into the barrel flare itself, not the dart gate.

    • @LL-wc4wn
      @LL-wc4wn 11 месяцев назад

      @@BradleyPhillipsYT you mean the prophecy/retaliator worker pusher/gate? Those sealed into the barrel same as the sabre. The gate part which i think you refer to as the flared bit, just held the barrel and acted to guide the darts. It wasnt the part the pusher sealed on. The oring on the pusher went past that gate, into the barrel and sealed like on the sabre.
