The middle east will go down as one of the most underrated bands of all time...man I miss them.
Same! Ive tried checking out some of their solo projects but none of them scratched the same itch for me.
couldn't agree more. Weird to say that when i'm really just going off of one song. but, Blood is SUCH an unbelievable song.. it has this overarching aura of melancholy, yet also a very powerful optimistic energy. I don't know many other songs that have replicated such momentum and such energy. It's crazy to think that a band could make a song like this and yet still break up. This is a great version of the song with some of the most amazing musicians of our time, but it doesn't have the same energy that the original does.
@@talldan645 nah they were amazing. One of the best bands out of Australia ever off just one album. Maybe one day we'll get some more but I can assure you they were more than a one song band. Just wish the shaker was quieter in the mix on this version.
I seen them live this year. Not sure how many original members are still with the band, but they opened for Zach Bryan
The way the energy consistently builds in this song and releases in a triumphant kinetic explosion at the end....

This masterpiece is exceptional and the collaboration was spectacular. I love it.
For many years I listened and I listened to the original by the Middle East. Undoubtedly one of the most evocative songs ever written. The Middle East split up a few years back and with that went my chance to see the song performed live. That sadness all went away today.
I’m just having hematology classes on my medical studies and I was so angry at the way how u have to absorb huge amount of rough knowledge, see patient with leukemia for just a few minutes, then go next to another one and so on. And there is no place for empathy, for giving you a time to imagine what this particular human being is having right now. So while studying, I felt urgent need to listen to this song. I stopped my e-learning, searched for it, played it and when I heard the very last words I burst into tears thinking about all those patients that I’ve been recently seeing.
Good for you to self manage that sort of thing. Everybody is human, nobody is superman, bad things are real and music is one of the art forms (not radio) that can keep you in touch with that. Best of luck in your journey random internet friend

Last verse always makes me cry after loosing my mum to cancer. 😢😢. Take solace in the fact that you still have your humanity but the cold truth is cancer is a ruthless killer and tears and prayers wont beat it. Thank you for what you do.

Saw this live in Paris, and bawled my eyes out throughout the whole song. Gang of Youths is my absolute favorite band. I had booked my tickets for the Mumford & Sons' concert without knowing they would be their first part. This concert was almost a religious experience for me and this song, was truly the apotheosis. I'm so happy I get to have this video to remind me of this magical moment and for many others to discover the wonders of that cover

What a magnificent cover..... The Middle East, one of Australia's most underrated bands! Great to see our biggest band in Australia today covering it with Mumford & Sons.
David Le’aupepe’s vocals are so strong and so heartfelt. Hits hard and makes the soul oh so soft.
They're amazing aren't they. And they design all the sounds and timbre of the instruments high and out of the way of his low vocal tone. Compositionally this, and all they're songs are incredible.

I got to hear this live the first night they sung it together, with a very loud and excited crowd and both bands going wild. It was one of my favorite moments in a concert ever.

I've been in love with this song since 2010. Mumford & Sons is one of my favourite bands, and this was the first time I got to see them in my hometown. Absoluletly amazing concert. Then they played this song. Didn't realize which song it was at first. But then I got so happy.Then I cried of joy.

Without question one of the great covers of all time. The emotion they draw from incredible lyricism is truly special. A lyrically perfect song not matched by many in modern music. Probably only topped by Ben Gibbard from Death Cab for Cutie for the insanely, beautiful and poetic imagery created with words

i don't know how to describe the way i feel when i hear this cover. i fell in love with the like a version by gang of youths, and i love the way they did this one too. it feels, almost relieving to hear, especially around the 2:34 mark with the trumpets and background singing. its genuinely relieving, i don't know why or how else to describe it. but thats what it is. relieving.
