Crazy Stupid Love. I was at home with my girls and was flipping through channels and this movie was going off and I heard this song. I reached out to me. I searched for it and found it. The lyrics are touching. I lost my grandmother in 1994. This song just made me think of her and our times together and how I miss her still.
+tpm017 The last verse always makes me teary Grandfather, weary soul, you’ll fly Over your life once more before you die Since our grandma passed away You’ve waited for forever and a day Just to die And someday soon You will die It was the only woman you ever loved That got burnt by the sun too often when she was young And the cancer spread and it ran into her body and her blood And there’s nothing you can do about it now
Natasha Cane yeah, that's why i asked about his grandfather too, because of those lyrics. assumedly, when you've lived your life with someone else for like 50-60 years, and they're suddenly gone it really hurts! questions your purpose in life, and no one would blame you for simply waiting to die at that point
@@smileystuff261 The movie was "Crazy Stupid Love". That's where I heard this first as well. It was the final scene in the movie and was an absolute eargasm for me when I heard it.
I can barely listen to this song! It's like a blessing & a curse too me. I love it so much, it's so beautiful, especially the lead singers voice. However I want to cry everytime I hear it, it just reminds me of my own family that's gone.
A few people in a University at Australia got together in 2005 to form this band. This song is a single from their first album. What a fantastic creation. I wonder what happened to them...
100%. I heard this end part on a few TV shows, and every time I heard it, I'm like, "What IS this?" goosebumps every time, so I had to find out what song it's from!
I've found out about this song when I saw Mumford & Sons playing it with Gang of Youth in 2019. They released it in the recent live EP. Such a great and powerful song.
What can us fans do to help ressurect this fantastic band? Their sound is purely wonderful, they all look fabulous, and of course are all very talented...
I hope everyone watches this after the Gang of Youths and Mumford & Sons cover. It is such a beautifully written and performed song, we need more of this in the world
Bitter sweet emotions listening to this song. It reminds me of my youth with my family. But my parents have both passed and I wish with all my might I could go back and enjoy those times all over. 😔
It's hard to find a song that can still cut right into your soul despite how watered down the music industry and even the world itself is. This song is what emotion would sound like if it were in stereo. Greatly stirs my soul awake.
Older brother, restless soul, lie down Lie for a while with your ear against the earth And you'll hear your sister sleep talking Say "Your hair is long but not long enough to reach Home to me But your beard Someday might be" And she'll wake up in a cold sweat on the floor Next to a family portrait drawn when you were four And beside a jar of two cent coins that are no good no more She'll lay it aside Older father, weary soul, you'll drive Back to the home you made on the mountainside With that ugly, terrible thing Those papers for divorce And a lonely ring A lonely ring Sit on your porch And pluck your strings And you'll find somebody you can blame And you'll follow the creek that runs out into the sea And you'll find the peace of the Lord. Grandfather, weary soul, you'll fly Over your life once more before you die Since our grandma passed away You've waited for forever and a day Just to die And someday soon You will die It was the only woman you ever loved That got burnt by the sun too often when she was young And the cancer spread and it ran into her body and her blood And there's nothing you can do about it now
Wow. What a comment. You think everyone considered the electric guitar or electric keyboard "real" instruments when they were first introduced? Why is "distortion on the vocals" the cutoff point for not real musicianship? Would they not be true musicians if they added reverb or echo to the vocals? Wouldn't it be more "real" for them to not use amplifiers or microphones altogether?
This song reminds me so much of my auntie, who passed away from cancer in October. It makes me so happy and sad at the same time; whenever I listen to it, I think of all the good times we had and how much fun we had together, but it also makes me miss her very much. I love this song with all of my heart.
I seem to come back to this video every year and expect the view count to have skyrocketed from ''omg whose here from greys anatomy'' or whatever. Someone will fit it into a popular tv show and boom. It deserves it
My father passed away 6years ago, ma mom looks so lonely in the house whenever i walk in now, he was the only man she's ever known, they were literally parted by death, the lyrics "you've waited forever and a day just to day" have never felt anymore real because thats the only way will ever get to see him again, i love you pops❤
This song gives me so much nostalgia, I remember the first time I heard it was on an ad for I think the festival of Sydney. It's stuck with me ever since.
If you haven’t heard Gang of Youths version of this on Like A Version then you need to go listen to it IMMEDIATELY!!!!! It’s like hearing the song for the first time again and with like 10 times the emotion. *you can thank me later*
these guys are like the KYUSS of folk music. quitted with no regrets & good reasons. even though not active, but the name & music is remembered very clearly. maybe they would play again someday (maybe a reunion), but until then, money & fame can't pull them back
One of my classmates, Marley Lion, who was seventeen was killed a week ago. I have been listening to this song so many times because it reminds me of him, and it is such an emotional song and it is just plain beautiful.
So so beautiful 😍😘😘 I love this song coz it was in the end of movie crazy stupid love and this song is played on background when everything turns right again❤️❤️
Raise your hand for 2024. Still one of my all time faves 💖
👋 we here ❤
this is probably the most underrated song in the history of music...
12 years gone still the same feeling ♥️
not underrated here.... this song is unbelievable. gives me chllls every time.
I mean they broke up because they felt like they got too famous
and most beautiful
@@bobjob66 hey can you explain why you said? Is it from a film? Because I used came to know about it from the film 'Crazy Stupid Love'. 🙂
After 10 years, still the best song ever
the beauty of this song is hard to comprehend. all the emotions every time I hear it.
Everyone should listen to this song.
I love these songs too . Whenever iam down and weary , i listen to it🥰
right? i still love this song and i am critical as muffa when it comes to music.
“The Darkest Side” is right up there too ❤
Really didn’t expect them to be this good live. Sounds like the kind of music that is hard to create outside the studio. But they fucking nailed it.
Agreed. It surprised me the same way Bon Iver does Holocene live.
there's something about the final few minutes of this song. it sounds like "fuck it. life is painful. fuck it. celebrate."
Doesn't it remind you of The Polyphonic Spree like that?
11 years ago. Hope you're doing well. 💯 of 💯 comment
I love this perspective sm
They made a sad song so beautiful.
Kamla. Face bo
ok
it may be sad, but it's about coming to terms with letting go
yes they did. and it is f-ing incredible!!!!!!
I listen to this religiously
They did this!!!!
I love this song so freaking much, it physically hurts.
feels the same here, something connects very deeply in my nature.
Same 💟
@@BuckleMyShoeKnockAtTheDoor you are here now as well, huh. :)
@@YaredFlores You! I never Comment on RUclips but whomever your are. You have nailed it.
This is such a delicate song that it just feels hard to pull off live and so massive props to them.
Heard this in "Crazy, Stupid, Love." and was intrigued ever since...
Wonderful song!
My mom died of cancer. Years after my father died. Guess till death do us part is true. Love and miss them both

I've never heard someone whistle so perfectly before. That was pretty cool.
Mate you should listen to Patience by Guns n Roses if you wanna hear perfect whistling
This song penetrates my soul.
Sad, hopeful, understanding, human, moving.
If only I wasn't wasting my time listening only to classic rock in 2010.
6 years later still a classic
9 years later and more so now then ever

I like how the atmosphere grows when the tambourine gets into the action, beautiful with the xylophone and how they whistle too.
gives me the chills, every time, when they start the outro. O Ooooh OO oooOOohoohh OOOoooooo....OOOO Ooo oo OOOO oooOO

favorite song of all time, no dispute.
One of my favorite songs, and one of few that made me cry real tears of pain of losing my mother to cancer a year after I was born 💛
❤️
😢😢😢 Stay strong.
2:11 okay, i never thought one of them actually did the whistling. It is it good? yes. Was i surprised? Yes, yes i was.
Kevin Nealon reference? Yes. Do I like this band? Yes, yes I do.
the last lines just break my heart
it saddens me that such a talented band has come to an end. they were just perfect :(
Maybe they just had to end.
Incredibly hard to make a living in the music industry.
One of the finest songs in the last years of rock n roll... Almost like an anthem!

ingenious! love how they switched instruments and style as the song evolved. God job! Cheers from Sweden
This is what true musicians do. No distortion on the vocals and using real instruments. It is bands like this that will hopefully keep music genuine.
Exactly what i thought at 3:26 when the guitarist bends down to prepare something, and drummer switches drumsticks. True musicians.
