I prefer the old DC motors with brush gear and commutators,like on Otis gearless lift motors.

Excellent video. At 3:08; what is this white material and what are they doing (why are they heating/burning it)? Thanks.
They are torch brazing the copper together. The white material is cerablanket to protect the surrounding copper and insulation from heat.
i like everything in this video except the shitty brazing result.😂
I used to be a winder and I agree, that was a terrible brazing job.
