I love squeeze. Met them many times in the 80's always gracious with their fans, gave their best even when they were at their worst! Holland was esp an asset, good to see here. Tilbrook & Difford were great pop writers together period Tilbrook had a wonderful voice back then, don't think he ever went flat. God Bless 'em all in their post Squeeze journeys. Just great pop.Btw this is MY FAVOURITE SQUEEZE SONG along w/ Wrong Side of The Moon, Hourglass, Seperate Beds etc. & what's yours? Cheers!
Here we witness a band at the height of their musicality. The live recordings of their songs in studio paid off handsomely in concert. Is Gilson Lavis not the most underappreciated drummer in the history of rock music? Unlike so many other bands, Squeeze never stood still as musicians; Mr. Tillbrook's growth as a guitarist was a pleasure to witness when ever I saw Squeeze in concert.
What a fabulous comment, mrmarriot! It's true what you say about how self effacing and un-rockstar like they are when you meet them, though I've not met messers Holland or Lavis. My favourites? Revue...the hit singles...Slaughtered, Gutted.....If it's Love....etc! Cheers to you!
Thanks for this - been looking for it since hearing it many many years ago at the end of a Jools series on BBC about the Blues.
Thanks for this, it reminds me of 1971-2, the time I spent in New Orleans. Everyday was an adventure.
