I've spent 4 hours today with my new Origin trying to get it to work, with no success. Mostly it just won't connect; and if it does connect, it just keeps dropping the connection during initialization. I called the shop where I bought it, and they suggested several things to try, none of which helped. Then they suggested I contact Celestron support. The only option there is to fill out a form to submit a ticket, and I did that, and have heard nothing back so far. To submit a ticket, you need the serial number, which is hard to find - it's on a tiny sticker on the main tube, just in front of the back black body. So... so far all I've got for over $6,000 (Canadian) is 4 hours of torture.

I did get my Origin to work well, eventually. I bought a new iPad, specifically to work with my smart scopes etc. I reset the Origin to factory settings, with help from Celestron support (actually I think it's in the manual - just name a text file correctly, put it on a USB, plug into the Origin, and turn it on). That got things working, up to a point; but the Origin app still kept complaining of low Wifi bandwidth, even when I was right next to the scope. I bought the USB plug-in Wifi antenna suggested in the manual Appendix A, and that seems to finally provide a reliable connection without bandwidth warnings. So... a great scope, but Wifi does seem to be its weakness. I also use the Seestar S50 and the Dwarf 3 - no such problems with those.

@@kleedhamhobby How do you compare the S50 and Dwarf3 to the Celestron? Regards from Ottawa!

@@alfredopatricio8865 Well, as you've read here, I had quite a bit of difficulty getting the Origin working, as regards the Wifi. No such difficulty with the S50 or Dwarf 3. It's also much easier to get your data off the S50 and Dwarf 3 - just connect them to the computer with a USB cable and copy the files. With the Origin you have to have the whole thing set up on the mount and the tripod, then plug in a USB stick, and then connect from your tablet and go into the Origin setting menu, and tell it to copy the files. I was just doing that actually. And the Origin froze after 14% on my first try, but I got it to work with a different USB stick on a second try. Now, of course, the Origin is much larger and heavier than the other two - more like an old style SC. So far as results are concerned, they absolutely all have their points. The Origin is definitely the fastest, and produces large, detailed images more quickly. But the quality of the images from the smaller scopes is surprisingly good. In some ways the S50 is a bit more capable (slightly faster optically, and easier to use); but it does have a rather narrow field of view. The Dwarf 3 is good for wider field targets. I haven't used the mosaic modes at all, as they involve too much overhead when I'm working at 30 below freezing, as I was last night. I'm in Brantford, BTW.

@@alfredopatricio8865 It doesn't seem to be my day - I just typed a long reply, and RUclips seems to have lost it. Shorter this time. Origin has been balky to get working, is large and heavy, and it's awkward to get your data off; but it is by far the fastest optically, and produces large, detailed images quite quickly. But the other two produce surprisingly good images for their size, and are much easier to use. The S50 has a slight edge over the Dwarf 3 optically, but has a rather narrow field of view. The Dwarf is good for wider field targets, and the EQ mode allows for longer sub-exposures; the dual lenses are also nice to have. Haven't tried mosaics, as they involve too much overhead when I'm working at 30 below freezing, as I was last night. Also haven't tried daytime mode, which is an extra on the smaller scopes. Regards from Brantford.
