  • Today, we're exploring a helpful feature on CoCalc: cloning a compute server's configuration. This guide is for those who manage multiple compute servers and need consistency.
Before we proceed, it's crucial to understand why cloning configurations are beneficial. They allow you to easily maintain uniform parameters for different compute servers, simplifying your workflow whether you're an educator or a developer.
Log into your CoCalc account. Then, go to "Your Projects" and select the project that contains the compute server configuration you want to replicate.
Next, go to Servers, then Compute Servers. In the upper right-hand corner of the server whose configuration you want to clone, select the three dots.
Find the "Clone Configuration" option. Click it, and you can duplicate these settings to another server, ensuring consistency across your work.
At this point, you can make any adjustments you would like by clicking on the "settings" button for that new server clone.
By following these steps, you've learned how to efficiently clone and deploy server configurations on CoCalc. This skill will help enhance project consistency and reduce setup time.
Feel free to experiment with different configurations and share what you've learned in the comments! For further details, check out the CoCalc Documentation.
