The Iditarod is an indigenous tradition dating back several hundred years. Dog sledding was used as a way to deliver mail and packages across Alaska before airplanes existed. In 1973, it became an annual tradition that the people of Alaska use to remember and honor the indigenous tradition. This video is meant to inspire, educate, and entertain. I mean entirely no disrespect and only seek to honor and bring awareness to local cultures.
There is controversy surrounding the Iditarod regarding the training and upkeep of dog sled teams. I encourage you to do your own research on both sides of the argument so you can be well-informed and form your own opinions. I will not be stating my opinion here and am not seeking to argue about it in the comments. Feel free to duke it out but please be respectful and do not attack me for taking part in this indigenous tradition. Thank you.
