Loved this show back in the 90's. Had the great pleasure to go on holiday to L.A in 1996 where i got to see their headquarters and walk on that beach.

They show Bobby at the bottom of the sea, but that was it until they start showing you shark, so what happen to Bobby did he got saved?
Yeah, he was saved, but he ended up in a coma for much of the episode.

I honestly don’t understand why anyone would swim in LA water. It’s FREEZING. Summer, Winter, it doesn’t matter, not swimming temperature. Especially not in just a swim suit. But, they really do have actual lifeguards on duty in California and I’m honestly surprised that all they wear are swim suits. That ocean water is below freezing.
Also, this show is based off of Mitch being a career lifeguard. And it’s honestly not possible for someone to support themselves AND child AND own a home squarely on a lifeguard salary. Just not possible.
Also, with the Bobby and Chuck scene: Mitch should have taken his can rope off once giving Chuck the can. Chuck would have been able to hold on and wait for another lifeguard to get him, rather than Mitch trying to drag him along to get Bobby. That was his BIGGEST mistake in that rescue. Chuck would have been fine floating for a minute and Bobby would have been rescued sooner. Instead, Mitch wastes time going back for Chuck after Chuck looses his grip and Bobby ends up nearly drowning. That episode was centered around Mitch suffering post rescue PTSD and beating himself up over what he did wrong. And I honestly don’t blame him. He DID do something wrong and it nearly cost Bobby his life.
I agree with you.And David Hasselhoff is an excellent actor for playing Mitch like he did.It is possible to live off a lifegaurds salary these days.Most Californian Lieutenants in Mitch's position can earn upto and beyond salaries of around$87,000 annually.
Maybe Mitch had investments along with His Lifeguard Salary. Just a thought.

I remember the episode where Logan was doing his version of the movie Jaws with a Tiger Shark till a surfer was attacked and they discovered it was a Great White Shark and they did the whole exploding shark thing at the end of the episode where the girl mentioned she saw the same movie.
I watched Baywatch when it was on the air and I lost count on how many episodes they did that involved sharks as I remember the first episode that involved sharks was a girl who pretended to be the victim of an attack and faked her death just to escape her father and her boyfriend was the only one who knew where she was.

David Hasselhoff was brilliant as Mitch.
Newmie Newman was the silent hero of the show. he should have had more showing then he did. of alkl the actors, he had the 3rd more showing in episodes 150 the hoff had 220 and jeremy jackson had 159
I liked Newman.He was a real firefighter and lifeguard as well.
Michael Newman passed away at age 68 on October 20, 2024 due to heart complications. Michael was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease in 2006. Thanks for your service sir, RIP. 🙏🌅🏖️🌈🕊️🌹

The last video was sad, she saved the kid but she couldn't save herself. It's been awhile since I watched this show, but it's not like a show like this to kill off a character like that. At least I think that shark got her, I'ts been a while. As a young boy, I used to watch this show for the *ahem* jiggle factor, and to see Pamela Anderson in an orange swimsuit. (I had a huge crush on her when I was younger.)
They should got the life guard to follow behind her and spear gun the shark.

There's hundreds of people on the beach and lifegaurd all over the place and only one trying to save both kids at once, and the life Gaurd doesn't yell for help or back up? Always go for the younger kid in deeper water first. This totally unrealistic Hollywood, bad screenwriting.

This was good for its time in the 90s. But looking back now using standard of 2023, I don't think any of this plot will fly with anyone. Like with the kids scene, the waves are unusually high to be for open public swimming. Nowadays, they got a close off controlled area complete with safety net in those places. I enjoyed the show back then, but now it just look idiotic in all accounts, 😂😂😂. Different time, new standard 😂😂.
