As I grow older I realise some friends are situational friends. You’re friends because you did so and so together etc. I find my friendship circle becoming smaller and smaller because I only have so much time and I have to prioritise certain relationships over others. After uni life you really have to make an effort maintaining those valuable friendships 🥰

I don’t think balance is impossible - I think it’s more so about discipline and looking into your own values- not necessarily “sacrificing” one thing for another more so just accepting that you’re growing at a difference pace from your mates maybe? You just gotta find the right people where it’s ok not to talk for like a month and pick up the convo and update each other about life from there. You don’t have to keep up with people’s life because your own life is your business right? Idk just another opinion your opinion is yours! There’s no wrong or right :)
totally feel the same about the friendship stuff! it was so hard to see ppl last year with the pandemic and uni got so overwhelming being online that i think all of our mental health suffered a lottt

cant agree more !! i just uni and afew weeks ago is the first time i have face to face lesson in school and i suddenly realize how much i haven’t been catching with friends and how detached i feel from the people. been feeling so anxious for school and suddenly keeping up with friendship or making friendship feel hard :(

I'm currently sitting alone in my university hall. I literally have no friends from uni or before. Usually people come to me so I'm not used to socialize even more now after 100 lockdowns 😭

i'm glad you had the section about balance because tbh no matter how hard i've tried, things never felt "balanced". Maybe it's just my personality of having big FOMO (not just for socialising but like I do actually wanna be getting work done when i'm out for lunch, or like I do wanna be with my friends when i'm doing work at home) and one of the things i've realised after years of trying is that multitasking only leaves me feeling like i'm missing out on both/all of the tasks and it's better to focus on one solid thing and be present, then move to the next if that means missing out on the other completely.
and as someone that needs "cooling down" time after socialising, it's so hard to keep up with every group of friends i've got while still trying to having breaks in between for myself AND getting work done at when it needs to be. It is a real struggle because once you let loose, hello burnout.

Having balance is not, as people think, sometimes you gotta put something im the back burner jist so you can focus on priorities. Having friends who understand how important things are for you, is key..
I talked to my girlfriends once in a week, just to catch up ans then we are all back on work, kids, etc. When friendship is healthy and real, no matter how long you havent talk them, it will always feel like you see each other 24/7 🤗
