Awesome crowd! So impressed. Hopefully, the Japanese Rugby League One continues to grow and attract more fans from around the world. We as Rugby fans need to support each other’s leagues. I coach Youth Rugby and we have our first game this morning. 🏉🇺🇸🇯🇵💪🏻
I think it will be good for him. We see this with Barrett who I think is now a much more rounded player. NZ need to step up in 2022 after a challenging 2021. Time to get in some of these newer All-Blacks who I think are awesome. As for Japanese rugby, love seeing them rise and with the other Pacific region rugby improvements, e.g. Fiji, Tonga etc.
@@Connor6569 I agree that it may take a little while for them to display consistent good performances, but I think its unfair to say that they'll get destroyed. Are we forgetting that they did beat South Africa at the largest competition in the sport? I also argue that having more matches againsts the more elite rugby countries, can only have a positive effect on the growth and level of competition of the sport in Japan.

if you bend rules at this level then players are and will be found out at test level, seems to be a case of Japan playing the game in Japan to suit them selves then at test level they get hockied because they have to actually play the rules... unless on home soil where they get these decisions forward passes and offside seem to have escaped the rules book in Japan
Rugby is not that popular a sport in Japan, so there are few referees and the quality of refereeing varies. I think this will improve when rugby becomes more popular and referees are given a proper status as a profession. as a Japanese

Hopefully that changes now that there's two pasifika teams in it, whether they'll be competitive remains to be seen despite a really rough outing potentially.
I think it actually was retranslated from Japanese and it unfortunately got overlooked... Rugby U is far better in my opinion but league has a place for sure.. 😏
Tbh he played pretty well for a distributor but I think theres still alot of work needed to develop synergy in the backline. Dmac opened q a few opportunities for the winger who had some really stupid fumbles. The pass to Nakamura was honestly not a bad one but it was very risky so I do agree that it was kinda unnecessary.
This game was full of forward passes for the sake of tries or keeping the game flowing. Great for the league but on the international stage it will be called.
Great game to watch but the standard of referring is awful. There are forward passes which are borderline and then... there is the ones on display here
That looked like that was a game that most fans dream of. Loads of tries around the packs and a well fought game, pack with excitement.
Yeah and loads of ignored forward passes as well…
@@mufuliramark I thought I seen a few too
Some of those passes were hella forward. Loved the rugby though.
Shockingly forward !!
was gonna just say that ffs some were not even marginal but shockin blatant...
I was thinking are there different rules in Japan like wtaf
Are they letting them slide so that Rugby looks like a better more exciting spectacle with a view to making Rugby more popular in Japan ?

Honestly, don't you just love seeing Japanese rugby improve. I can't wait to see them in the Rugby Championship and pacific rugby tournaments too.
Same here :) If anything I think it's ridiculous that Japan is not already being added to the Rugby Championship

2:41 Great pass from the quarterback
I can't believe they let that pass. It was a blatant forward pass
m8 nithing worse than 8:30
There was one earlier than that that drifted 3/4 metres forward
Hahahahaha
WTF......1:51, such a clear forward pass totally missed by the ref who was in a the best position to see it....
Wish Aus had played Macmahon more last year. Guy is underrated
So good to see the start of a fully pro league in Japan

There were two tries awarded from forward passes.

Great to see DMac back in action this time with the Suntory, will be following these guys with Kerevi this season
Good quality rugby! It seems like the refs/tmo are letting the game flow with less interference, hence the forward passes

The amount of forward passes was quite low. It's just that 3 you see are extreme.
