He had heart trouble for years even suffering a heart attack on stage. Many dont know but he was actually a genius and held college degrees but chose to bless us with his comedy. We will never have another like him.
That guy is so funny his humor is on par with Carlin...makes you think before you laugh...I watched this guy all through the 80's with friends I haven't seen for 30+ years....unfortunately so many people are lost in the political arena and to reunite with them could ruin all the good memories....I always thought the 60's/70's were the best of times but compared to the toxic society we live in today I would take the 80's in a heartbeat....R.I.P. Gallagher you smart funny S.O.B.....I never walk by a watermelon without thinking about you
I'm an 80's baby and I grew up with this beautiful man making me laugh and jump starting my wit and sarcastic imagination . Thank you for making reality funny and easier to bare.
R.I.P. Thank you for the many years of laughter! Met him in Detroit 2 years ago. Friendly and funny. Stopped at our table for conversation and pictures. What a gem! You'll be missed!
Saw him live twice. Best. Show. Ever. He did over two hours without a break. Everything was funny. You left his shows absolutely worn out from laughing.
I think Gallagher was the first comedian whose special I'd ever watched to completion. Sorry to learn that as of this comment he has been dead a little over two weeks. He is an important person in American history, and in the lives of many to whom he brought laughter. RIP.
OMG!!! I've never laughed so hard in my life as I did watching Gallagher. Tears streaming down my face and my ribs were sore the next day. I am truly saddened when we lose 2 comedic geniuses like Robin Williams and Gallagher. They filled my life with laughter and joy. May you both rest in laughter and know that you are truly missed and loved.
A sign of the times....about 1984 live show ,audience member yells out...Gallagher for president . Gallagher: I can’t be president, I smoke dope, how do you think I get the ideas for this shit (pointing at his props on stage).RIP Leo.
I grew up in a very small town in northern Michigan in the 80’s and 90’s, where we couldn’t get HBO, and our only video rentals were a couple of mom and pop ones. But I vividly remember both rental stores having a whole row of Gallagher specials on VHS to rent. They had wild covers with watermelons, floating heads, etc. As a kid I was told by my parents they were too adult for me to watch. But they stuck with me and I knew who Gallagher was. As I got to be in middle school and high school in the 90’s, I was allowed to watch him finally, and started watching his routines. I could not get enough, and became a huge fan. I never got to see him live, but he’s still one of my very favorite comics to this day. A true icon of the 80’s for sure, but even after that. I was so sad to hear of his passing. I had heard he had some health issues, and saw a video a few years ago showing him at his house, which seemed kind of dilapidated and surprising for a celebrity, clearing out and selling some of his old classic props from his routine. It made me sad, but he was still being funny as he did it. We just don’t seem to have hardly any new talents like him, like we did in earlier decades. Whether it’s comics, actors, musicians, artists, politicians, you name it. I really miss that.
I met Gallagher in Knoxville, Tn, I couldn't think of nothing to say but "Are you working hard"? He replied " I'm getting to old for this shit". 😆 R.I.P
I love Gallagher, but can we take a minute to acknowledge the fact that watchdog_jedi happened to not only HAVE this clip but also took the time to digitally convert AND upload it to RUclips for us? I always take for granted the source of these videos. Thanks for putting the time in, my dude.
The man who made watermelons a weapon of mass distraction, a cool comedy sidekick and an endangered species, all at the same time! RIP, sir. We miss you.
Oh my god! This was before my time but when I was about 6, I remember seeing this on TV and APPARENTLY didn't understand the vibrating watermelon.... I get it now. 😲🤣
"Makes no sense. You drive in a park way, but you park in a driveway. Cargo goes by ship. A shipment goes by truck. You have a pair of panties, but just one bra" 🤣🤣
Heaven is a Christian concept. I don't mean to be that guy, but as a follower of Christ, I have a duty to say this: We don't know if they're in Heaven or hell, because we don't know how they truly felt about Jesus Christ, who is the only path to Heaven. Dying doesn't automatically send you to Heaven, and just saying things won't do it either. By default, due to our sin, we are all going to hell. It's only Jesus' sacrifice on the cross, his resurrection, and your true faith in him that will save you. How do you feel about Christ? Do you love God? Have you put your faith in Jesus? I truly hope you have, and if not, I urge you to consider it.
I still put my paper groceries bag between the refrigerator and the wall because mom always did. She was a Dutch imagrant and came over in 1953. I was born in 1968. I never thought about he getting the idea from Galleger.lol.
When you say underrated, what you are trying to say is that not enough people like him as much as you do which goes against your sensibilities. Your opinion on him is the gold standard which Gallagher should be measured.
Worst date I ever had was when I took a beautiful girl to see Gallagher. I laughed, she sat there stone faced. That was all I needed to know about her. So I dumped that stupid girl!

Def George Carlin was a nihilist, and a very vulgar nihilist. Yet, there was something honest, loyal & genuine about him that I always admired. 👍💟
Great post & sadly right about our toxic environment

Robin Williams as comedic genius, Gallagher was overrated idiocy and nothing more.

How did a man this funny become a one-hit wonder with so many great bits?
Most likely because he wasnt PC and was edgy. Its why they cancelled andrew dice clay.
