Buyers beware --- Benro has not been able to ship The Theta Tripod. Benro is over a year late. They do not even update their website. It is June 9th and the website still says it is expecting to start shipping in May. Have sent a bunch of messages asking for updates and lately for my money back and NO RESPONSES! Maybe they are having financial troubles, but this video is a joke! DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY! Benro customer support does not respond!
It does look like a very feature rich product and thank you for the review. Couple things stands out: the tripod head, it's a similar design as the Peak Design that has three restriction prompts that restrict horizontal shooting angles under the ball head. The centre column is skinny which often creates quite a bit of vibration when extended on the Peak Design tripod to accommodate the slim size when folded. It would be interesting to compare this unit to a Heppie tripod that has the three centre column design on the top of the bell head. I do love the AUTO adjust feature and all the smart capabilities this tripod has to offer best stability is extremely important when it comes to shooting both photo and videos and not just rely on the in body stabilization of the camera body and lenses.
I can see my suggestion to use an updated design for the ball head lock was completely ignored. Even watching this guy turn the screw at @8:28 was painful. You still have the opportunity to update that design. I guess it's "Get ready to have blisters on your fingers"
This may have been asked, but if you can only buy one, which do you recommend for a normal-sized mirrorless camera... the theta or the theta max? Thank you for your opinion.
My favorite part is the camera not being level after auto-leveling at 7:41 . It’s tilted up a little bit. Hopefully, the finished product will be extra precise. I backed this product a while ago and I plan to use it for architectural photography, so auto-leveling feature should be extra accurate.
Look at it again. You have 2 long ones on the sides and two short ones in the center. The shorts ones are white = not level. I really hope it won’t been like that with the finished product
The tripod auto-levels its base, not the camera. If the tripod head is tilted forward the camera will not be level on all axes, but that is the photographer's choice.
Thank you for this very nice and original review! This tripod would be so helpful for me as a Real Estate photographer. I have to place my tripods in the most weird positions many times everyday. 🥴 What I cannot figure out; does the self leveling still works with one ore two legs are in a different angle compared to the third. Any chance to try this during your test?
I refunded the benro last summer on kickstarter. Then bought a Peak Design traditional tripod. I have slowly opened the peak hundres of times and have read kickstarter backers still havent opened 1 leg of benro 😂 which makes traditional much faster IMO
The reason I was asking is because Benro has been pretty unresponsive to the community of backers on Kickstarter.@@RageStudios I wanted to see if he could reach out to Benro and get more context on why they aren't being as responsive on Kickstarter. There are a lot of upset people who are ready to back out of the campaign. Many of us backed the product based on this video.
Nice review, a question that came to my mind is for we could use Benro gimbal into this Tripods or should I buy an additional accessory that is probably not available yet!!!
You didn't open it correctly...The latches you open all 3 when closed, then the same when closing. MUCH faster, and latches are better for numerous reasons, like fine sand, and secure lock. Auto level is cool. Remote adjusting the level would be a good feature.
It's quite common and a trend for old/big companies to release and prelaunch their new product in the way of crowdfunding, expecially collecting potential customers' view points and wishes for the new product before the formal production
@@RageStudios I've pledged the for both sizes but i've lost out on Kickstarter before so I wont relax until I get notified that i'll definitely receive my tripods!
@@RageStudios I´m totally with you, the app is *******, however it's free and you don't need additional stuff with you on the journey. In my experience the less the better. Nevertheless I ordered the tripod :-). The automatic leveling system is really awesome.
@@karolykrausz5534 the auto level feature besides looking really cool it's actually really helpful, I also don't care much for the other 2 modules, I don't live stream either but for some that could be important so I made sure to include everything in my review
Since Benro is trying to think out of the box with this tripod...It would be nice if it had a motorized ballhead addon so that we can move the camera remotely. Live stream feature would be better if the camera can follow you around and keep you in frame. It would be nice to zoom the lens remotely too by zooming in and out on your phone. For add-ons, have the ability to add motorized wheels to move for timelapse and to travel over uneven terrain. Better yet, in the next kickstarter, let's reinvent the tripod. Why does it need to be a tripod? Why not 2 wheels and a motorized column to mount the camera. They should have something like a mini segway for a phone or camera that can balance a camera like it can for a person. Then it can roll around and follow you for your live stream or timelapse. With a motorized center column and motorized head, it will be a new form of image stabilization. No more flimsy 3-axis gimbals. The future is in droids. :)
Good morning, I therefore ordered a theta max accompanied by the holy grail modules on March 2, 2024. Value €747, delivery May 2024. No delivery having taken place, and the site no longer responding, I noticed that many contributors were in the same situation. The support no longer accepts any messages because it is saturated. All my refund requests went unanswered. This campaign is a scam. THANKS
Um, if you pinch your fingers on tripod leg clamps, I suggest slowing down a bit. "The hurrier you go, the behinder you get." In 20 years, I've _never_ pinched a finger.
@@RageStudios Okay i'm looking forward to see your video 😏 Operating the Polaris and the Thea together No need for the tutorial. I already had the Polaris. But I want to understand how much noise Thea "Max" makes, if it is any different from Thea.. !!So to compare i know what to expect when i receive my Thea..
"A more traditional tripod" haha...that's the Peak Design tripod which was revolutionary which this is a clear rip off of. Extending and collapsing it is nowhere near as laborious or painful as you make it out to be.

Theta's Y-shaped central column design can effectively save storage space. The Y shape is stronger than other shapes
Great video man. Makes me even more glad I backed this project.
glad you like, you will really enjoy this tripod and wait till you see your friend's faces when you hit that auto level button

The small one is enough for a mirrorless camera

it level correctly, the camera filming the tripod was not leveled correctly
@@RageStudios it is not level. All 4 lines need to be green. You have only 2 of them green. It means that the camera on the tripod is tilted

Prototype state, I’m sure they can add features by the time it launches
Actually like the fast one twist lock more than auto level feature. Would love to have a monopod version. They should call it SupaDupaDeDupa
I am a backer. What about the backpacks? I hadn't heard of them before. Where can I get info on them?
Still under development, I think they’re coming up next month

Benro having little thinner advantage locking and unlocking, but not much as you showed in this video. :)
