I'm a native New York. I work as an actress and a model. My hubby is an engineer with the MTA. I have traveled throughout the US, been to 32 of the 50 states including Honolulu. I can honestly say there is no other city like New York. I love the variety, the mix, the culture, and the people. Yes, Anton is correct, you don't need a car to live here. And there are too many cars. It's just that there are those who want a car whether or not they need them. And some people just don't or won't ride the subways even though the subway is the fastest way to get around the city. Most people, even a lot of New Yorkers have no idea of the scale of New York believing it's only Manhattan, which is generally thought of as "The City". There are the outer broughs of The Bronx, Brooklyn, Queens and Staten Island all of which can offer you a quieter lifestyle, there are homes as well as apartment it just depends on where you choose to live. This is the only city where you can meet people from every part of the planet. I've had borsht and beer at Brighton Beach (Russian neighborhood) and Salsa dance at Orchard Beach (Puerto Rican & Dominican) I grew up in the Little Italy section of the Bronx. And I've been out to Little India in Queens to buy gold earrings. With all this exposure to people's and cultures I've developed a level of sophistication that you just can't get in any other city. In addition, there are beaches, parks and a vast amount of green spaces where you can commune with nature. There are world class museums everywhere, theatre, music, libraries. I'm spoiled. I go to other places in the US and I just can't see myself living there because "Um Frum New York".
I live in Queens but will be relocating to Miami-Dade County (80% of the year) once I get my llc & funding for my company. Half of New Yorkers live in Miami, Tampa, Orlando & Charlotte. I love the fast paced metropolitan essence of New York & also the subtropical, jungle flava of Miami. It's alot of good things happening in Florida. Universal Orlando is building a new theme park. But back to Miami topic: Wynwood District alone is epic.
Some people have a car in New York City because the subway is unsafe for them, they need to get to places faster, or they travel outside of the city often
Brooklyn made me, but I'm glad I left years ago. I enjoy the suburbs and the quiet life. The subway is still the best way to get around, the C train was home when i was there.
I’m good with metro Dallas as the place to raise my family. We have a cheat code as we have properties in Florida. All are rented out and one is used for our getaway spot!
I lived in ATL for years. I’m surprised you mentioned those suburbs. It’s rare to here people talking about anything up north past Dunwoody. With that said, that’s where I would be if I ever move back!
Don’t let the secret out🤣 all those cities are gems on Georgia you get a mixture of both city and country feel without the crime. Alpharetta has some of the best schools in America and is thriving.
Something about d.c always made feel good inside. I will live there but I prefer to live in the outskirts maybe 45 mins to an hr away. I’ve in nyc I been working this job for way too long thank god I’m only 33 but I’m not really making any money. I took a risk and I’m in process of getting a job in d.c paying me 26,000 more than what im getting plus a sign on bonus. Im crossing my fingers. I just have to move away from family and friends for a better life
It’s easy to make it in NYC, more jobs more opportunities. If you make it in Florida you can make it anywhere less opportunities in Florida. IF YOU CAN MAKE IT IN FLORIDA YOU CAN MAKE IT ANYWHERE.
Im a introvert i don't like being around lots of people so i will always live in small to midsize cities.. people who are extroverted and like to be constantly busy and lots of people .yes NY
I live in Jersey I am tired of the winters.I want to move to a place where it's less snow. I currently in a neighborhood where i can walk to our local grocery store if needed. I don't drive because i suffer from epilepsy. Now we do have a car and my husband do drives. But if I want to walk to my local grocery store real quick or he is not home. I don't like doing uber. I just always love going for walks and if i get tired i can stop sit down have a beverage and head back home.
Houston been the place to be especially post pandemic, the traffic though. I'm from there and i'm not keen on the traffic and the city is stretched out as far as traveling through some areas of town.
THO IM FROM ST. LOUIS ( YOU CANT SPELL HUSTLE WITOUT THE STL ) .. I LOVE NYC MY FAVORITE CITY ( NEW YORK CITY ) .. LOOKIN FORWARD TO GOIN BACK TO VISIT IN SEPTEMBER .. 👍🏾💯
nice to hear, cuz i wanted to travel to usa but im confused to wether go to newyork or miami,...im from europe netherlands, amsterdam. i want good weather, swimming, but also the decent city stuff and shops and restaurants like in newyork....im scared to take a cab wether they wont make regular prices or how the cabdriver will be. florida is presented from overhere like a more good family vacay place, with good hotel transfers. and in newyork u gotta take urself a cab.
You mean NYC, other parts of NY are pretty remote and mountainous and you’ll need a car to travel around these areas. NYC is only 1 area in NY, there is Albany, Buffalo, Syracuse, Rochester, etc… these cities don’t have the same amenities or transportation options as NYC. There aren’t trains/Ubers going to the Catskills or Adirondack mountains for example. NYC is in the far south of NY, everywhere else in NY is far different.
Blessings brother nice ST polo.. Like your conversation, like the way you're moving. Your content is starting to really be inspiring. New York is a creative and paper pushing town. But I think it's about controlling your backyard. To me it's just more value when you understand the landscape
Because most people travel outside of the city because of the peaceful environment. NYC needs more black investors because the ones we have sold out to them boys lol Come to NYC until your daughter graduates from NYU college.
The state of NY cost of living is through the roof out thurr. Plus the winters are brutal, they also have strictest gun laws, which is a big turn off for me.
Florida is ranked the most expensive state to live in though. Our winters are not as brutal as it once was. It really doesn’t get cold till the end of October. The temperature doesn’t rarely even touches below 25 degrees too. Florida summers are the worst. Yeah we have strict gun laws which I agree, but New Yorkers need that with the lack of self-control out here.
I live in NYC I have a care because I don't like standing shoulder ti shoulder with people all the time. I also like to go out of town with the wife and driving to our destination is simpler.
New York is. The best and you dont need car, ny is expensive rent and alot of crazy people, subway sucks , durty et, many covid nuts here, gay scene suxks , but new York still the best..i wanna visit Miami
Miami and ny Too expensive To much fake instagram life is special Miami And only work work Can’t afford a date 300 with a girl Choose different states Virginia Downtown Chicago Boston San Diego Austin Texas All better quality of life states
I live in Panama City Beach Florida, if you are trying to live that retirement lifestyle, then it's a good choice. Keep in mind, I don't have a job, I don't own a business, so I go days without making a outgoing phone call. I don't check emails, I barely use a mobile phone. If your into nice beaches, good food and awesome weather, then check it out.

NYC has been in existence for a million years so every fact you mentioned in your op-ed is common knowledge.
NY is the place to grow and become somebody.
Florida is the person who’s already have the results because of the low taxes and also for the vacation.
Great point bro! Many don’t see it.

There’s a reason why many former NYC residents (a good percentage of them are of Jewish faith) have moved to Florida for the past 50+ years..
